Staff have coped remarkably well with the continuing pandemic restrictions and have continued to provide excellent care for my mother in a compassionate manner. I am kept well informed of relevant changes to visiting arrangements.
My Dad has been in Eothen Whitley Bay in this most strange year. He did not want to move into a Home but he settled immediately due to the kindness of the staff. They allowed him to be himself with all his quirks and foibles and be an individual. This is a very special place with exceptional staff.
A well-run care home by a professional team who are very caring, personable and treat the residents as family. It has been a very difficult 12 months during the Covid pandemic but they have shown great compassion, flexibility and maintained a sense of doing what’s right for the residents and their families.
My father moved in shortly after losing his wife of over 70 years and was treated with much kindness and respect by all the staff immediately. He did not want to go into a care home and had always been self-sufficient but he grew to enjoy the company of other residents and particularly took to many of the staff. While being registered blind and only able to walk with a zimmer frame, he really enjoys trips organised by the home with a lot of help from the staff. We have been very pleased with his care and would be happy to recommend the home to others.
I was like a jigsaw puzzle but with love and care from all the carers in my care home, I am now very much improved and healthy in body and peace of mind and quality of life and living again.
My mother worked in care homes when I was growing up so I have been in plenty. Eothen Homes blows them all away. The staff clearly love their jobs and the residents can tell. The whole place has a really warm family-like atmosphere and the activities and entertainment provided are top notch!
My sister suffers from severe memory loss and was therefore very vulnerable at home. I am happy that she is now safe, warm and very well cared for by lovely kind and caring people, who extend that kindness to me when I visit.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely, ideal for my sister who is of a quiet disposition.
My mum recently passed away. I would like to say all staff made myself, family, friends welcome. My mum safe, loved and very well looked after. Staff knew my mum was dying and came in on their days off, swapped shifts to help her pass away in the best way possible with familiar people around her. I refused hospital admission so she could stay here. Also, can I say we had a wonderful Christmas day, food and atmosphere were lovely. Good memories. Thank you!
Good position within Whitley Bay.
Pleasant garden which is welcome.
Food plentiful and well cooked.
Comfortable room with pleasant view out of the window.
I would welcome more organised outings.
Overall, a lovely environment.
The activities for the residents are excellent. The social events organiser often asks the residents and their relatives about their interests. Social activities are varied and tailored to the needs of each resident.
The food is excellent, there is always a good choice of high quaity, fresh food. All in all a happy homely place.
My mum moved into Eothen in July 2017. She's 91 and could no longer live at home alone as she'd had a couple of falls and has poor mobility. My wife and I visited the home without an appointment and were impressed with the friendly welcome and immediately knew it was a caring and comfortable environment where mum would be happy.
Since moving in, she has been well cared for by the patient staff. It's a Christian community offering regular devotions, as well as a good range of activities to stimulate the residents. Mum is able to join in activities just as she pleases. The food provided is very good - menus are varied and the only negative comment I hear is, that too much food is offered! But equally, she can leave what she doesn't need.
Eothen has close links with the local GP practice, and the doctor has been helpful when needed - thankfully only for minor things so far. After 10 months I'm well pleased with Eothen and would recommend to anyone looking for a care home in Whitley Bay.
All of the staff at Eothen Whitley Bay are extremely friendly, highly professional, and treat their residents with the utmost kindness and care at all times. They are like a family, and they also welcome residents' families at all times (except meal times), are easily approachable and constantly aiming to make the whole experience a pleasurable and happy one.
They are always looking at new ways to entertain and stimulate the residents using events and games, bringing in interesting visitors to perform things like singing, or crafts, and they always try and involve all of the residents whatever their level of disability may be.
They provide the residents with good quality nutritious food at meal times, and they have a fantastic garden which is always well maintained.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone.
Eothen Home is a Christian home that is run on Christian values. I cannot thank them all enough for the love and devotion to my mother in the last ten years of her life. The fact she lived from her 88th year till her 98th year is a testament to the excellent care provided. The last three years she was requiring more from a care home provides so she did not have to moved to a strange place. God bless all the staff.
