This has been a strange year due to Covid. Millbeck has been amazing they have gone above and beyond to keep our families safe. We have had video calls, video messages of all the lovely activities the residents have been doing. All the staff are so caring, they are all our extended family. Rooms, food and all the facilities are 100%. My mam is so happy living at Millbeck.

During these difficult times of COVID-19 Millbeck staff have been amazing, nothing has been too much trouble. They have rung to keep me updated with the situation, have been happy for me to contact the home at any time to ask how my aunty is.

Superb resident-centred care in the most difficult of circumstances. I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after my father in such a calm, friendly and safe fashion. Real healthcare heroes.

My mam is a resident at Millbeck and has been there for a year. The staff are truly caring and wonderful. We went back for Mams birthday in October (we live away) and were overwhelmed with how well and happy she was. A birthday meal was put on for her and the family. It was so lovely. The staff go above and beyond to please their residents and keep them smiling. Very entertaining as well. Thank you so much for all you do.

A fantastic team. I could not wish for my Grandma to be in better care. As we struggle through COVID-19, the thought of the carers has been unbelievable. They have video messaged us so that my Grandma can speak to us and see us, which to me, is above and beyond their line of work, especially now as they are even busier. Thank you, everyone. Seeing my Grandma happy and smiling is all I need.

My Mother in Law has been a resident at Millbeck for a year now. I cannot praise all the staff enough. They go above and beyond for all residents. My Mother in Law is so happy and loves all the girls. It gives us peace of mind she is safe and very well looked after, especially with what is going on at the moment (Coronavirus).

I like Millbeck because the staff are very polite and helpful. Also, I like how your staff change shift because there is always somebody on the floor. The last place my mother was in, they all changed over at the same time, leaving nobody on the floor which is a bad idea. Keep up the good work. People must sign in and out - you must get the staff to tell people because some people forget. Also, is there a camera above the main entrance?

Very professional approach with friendly, caring and helpful staff who have made my mum, her family and friends welcome and accepted. This provides the reassurance that my mum is in capable hands.

I visit my auntie once a week. I find staff are pleasant but very busy, meaning residents can become a bit isolated in their rooms and they could do with some motivation to go out or get involved with indoor activities which are good at this care home. The laundry system is a bit haphazard with clothes going missing and getting mixed up, but they are trying to improve.

Reply from Debra Dowd, Manager at Millbeck

Thank you for taking the time to review Millbeck and we are pleased that you rate our activities as excellent. We have a full programme of activities and trips based on our resident's interests but we respect their wishes if they do not wish to participate. We have recently re-organised our laundry...

My mum has just spent 2 weeks in Millbeck for respite, first time ever so we were apprehensive but from the moment we went through the doors, we were met by friendly, pleasant, helpful staff from the housekeeping, admin, carers and catering.
The chef even made my mum a birthday cake as it was her 92nd birthday whilst she was in there.

We are hopeful for a long term room when one comes available. Millbeck is clean and kept tidy and is an absolutely refreshing change from others we had researched.

Millbeck is conveniently located with a pleasant outlook from resident's rooms and communal areas. The staff are friendly and very helpful, treating the residents with respect and caring for their dignity. The food choices are very good and the catering team will accommodate special requests/needs. The garden areas could do with a bit of care, but as it is early in the season I am sure this will be all in hand.

I discovered this care home by chance when I drove past one day and I called in and was made to feel very welcome and a member of staff offered to show me around and answered questions. What struck me immediately was the homely feel it had and there were no unpleasant smells commonly associated with care homes. I then made an appointment to speak with the manager with a view to my father being placed here. After this, I managed to get Dad promptly placed where he was for two years and one month. The staff were very accommodating and I never felt worried about asking them for help. They all treated my father like he was a member of their own family. He quickly settled and loved joining in with all the activities which were numerous and varied. The staff were very good at communicating with me whenever they had any concerns about my father's health. My Dad passed away in February and from the outset, I felt that I had made the right choice of home for him.

I attended the 'Millbeck's Got Talent Show' and BBQ on Saturday July 22nd. The event was truly inspirational. The manager, her deputy, the activities co-ordinator, along with the staff and the chef had done an amazing job in engaging the residents in such a wonderful experience, followed by an excellent meal. The residents sang, played percussion instruments and one read a poem. The staff also joined in the entertainment.

The effort and care taken to involve the residents was amazing, the whole room was filled with smiles and laughter. The experience has really motivated my mum and helped her feel part of a special group.

The friendliness, care and devotion of the staff makes Millbeck feel more like a family than a care home. I do not live in the Norton area but I would never dream of moving Mum closer as Millbeck cannot be matched for its level of care and dedication towards its residents.
