I have been to Wellburn House many times to visit my friend with my daughter and found it to be a very pleasant, happy house. The staff are most helpful and make you welcome, and the care - nothing is ever a problem.

I would retire there myself if needs be, nothing but praise.

My aunt has been in Wellburn House for an assessment for the past 4 weeks. She enjoyed her stay very much. She has been exceptionally well cared for in every aspect. All the staff have been lovely with her and she says she will go back to Wellburn House for "a holiday". I can't thank the staff enough
for the care and kindness given consistently.

Myself and my family are so pleased we chose Dad to go into Wellburn. The care and attention they give my dad was very reassuring for the family to know that he was well looked after.
Also, the manager and all the staff are amazing and so friendly.

My mother was extremely satisfied with her care in Wellburn House. As her family, we were also very happy with the care our mother received whilst in your care. She was well looked after, well fed with good nutritious food and kept very clean.
We were satisfied with the activities at the home.

The staff are very caring but I do feel they are understaffed as I have had instances when I have visited before lunch and my mother wasn't dressed. She had had her breakfast but was still in her pyjamas at 11:30 am. Some residents feel a bit bored but they have a new activities lady so this should
now improve.

Sadly our mother has passed away (9th June 2018). We would not recommend this care home to anybody. The staff are unapproachable and not at all friendly.

My mother slept in her day clothes all night, left in her old poo for hours on end.

Mixed up her medication. The ten days my mother was in the

care home were the worst days of her life. When we moved her to another home it was lovely and clean and most caring.

My aunt was a resident in Welburn house from 23rd april 2013 until unfortunately on the 6th January 2016 she suddenly became very ill, I was informed immediately and a doctor was called, when I got there it was obvious she was really ill. As I visited daily I was shocked at how quickly she had deteriorated,
the staff responded very quickly to get medical attention but unfortunately it resulted in my aunt being hospitalised for 10 weeks, after which she required nursing care so was unable to return to Welburn, this was decided by social worker and hospital staff. Luckily my aunt no longer needs nursing care as she is much better and I would be extremely happy for her to return to Welburn house which this decision was agreed by the nursing home social workers and myself. I feel my aunt would benefit a great deal by returning to familiar staff and surroundings..

My Aunty was in the care home for five years and was always extremely well cared for.
All staff are lovely and caring and I was very impressed with the excellent attention given to her when she was dying from Alzheimers disease.
She had been very challenging to look after the last two years as was
doubly incontinent, couldn't walk and had to have her food cut up minutely and be fed by staff, but they patiently did all this for her in a very caring way.
She used to enjoy the events at the home put on for the residents, and the sing songs before she was too ill to attend.
I was so happy with her treatment and care I didn't hesitate to recommend the home for my father-in-law, and he is in there now receiving excellent care, although he is seriously ill at the moment.
Would like to thank all the staff for the wonderful care they've given to my relatives over the years!

We find Wellburn House a very welcoming and friendly environment. The staff are very attentive and caring. My nanna has been in here for over a year and she has received excellent professional care from all staff. It is a pleasure to visit and like a home from home and would recommend this home to anyone.

Staff at Wellburn House cared for "me mam" with unstinting care, compassion and professionalism throughout her stay there; not only for her, but for us the whole family.

Our world is blessed with such places and people as we observed the staff's interaction and care towards other residents and visitors

alike, coping with difficult times in all their lives.

We particularly liked the "snack table" which was accessible to all.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.411)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.411) out of 10 for Wellburn House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.864 for Wellburn House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (133 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.864
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.547 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wellburn House Care Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.722
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
