Our initial meet with staff 'dressed as an elf' lifted the mood from the start. My mother-in-law was made to feel at home, welcome and safe. I cannot commend Harwood more highly, as a nurse myself I have high expectations and these were met without question. Allowing us as a family to feel able to rest
knowing our mumsy was happy in her final chapter of life. Thank you.

My mum has settled into Harwood Court after about 5 months. All good, caring staff, and each time I visit I know Mam is in good hands with very caring staff, right through Harwood Court - carers, cook, domestic staff, residents and residents' family. So all good for me at Harwood Court. If there was
a problem it will be dealt with as soon as possible.

My mother dreaded going into a care home, but once installed in this facility, she soon changed her mind. The staff are superb, the management are tremendous, they have looked after her really well, it's just a shame MHA won't employ more carers because if there were more of them then the service would
be even better.

The girls are genuine, caring, hard working and the maintenance man is great. The chefs cook amazing food and it never looks in need of a clean. Overall excellent.

My mum has been a resident at Harwood Court for over 2 1/2 years. During all this time she has been treated with care, dignity and respect. The management and staff including cooks, carers and handyman are attentive and above all caring. Harwood Court may not be modern and have fabulous facilities of
a newly built home but we could not have found a better place for her to live out her final years. It truly is a "home".

My Mum is settling down very well now in Harwood Court. The staff and the care and support they give are excellent. They are very attentive to my Mum's needs and very patient with her. This is well appreciated as her present memory is not good and she needs reassurance and much repetition to clarify
her understanding. There are activities organised every day for residents and plenty of opportunities to interact. The expertise and attitude of management are excellent. Thank you.

I find the care home to be very good and the staff friendly. Since the home has filled up, it, at times, becomes slightly disruptive with some of the louder residents.

Thank you for the lovely comments about the staff.
I will pass them along to all staff.
Although the communal areas do get busy many people have commented on how nice it is to see the lounge so lively.

My Mam is very happy at Harwood Court. She was initially admitted after a series of hospital admissions that started after a bad fall. With a long-standing heart condition, her residence at HC became essential. Initially, Mam did not want to stay. This lasted for about two weeks! You could not drag
her away now. She knows that she is well cared for. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. They try very had to make sure they meet the needs of the residents. I do think that, at times, staffing levels could be higher, particularly now as Harwood Court is reaching capacity.

My sister in law thoroughly enjoyed her week at Harwood Court, despite being very reluctant to have respite for the first time. From the onset, we were made to feel very welcome by both staff and residents and everyone was so helpful. Her room on the first floor was was beautifully decorated and furnished,
with access by lift.
Throughout the week, there were many activities to join in, and she was encouraged to do so.
The catering staff produced appetising, well presented meals which were really appreciated.
The care staff showed genuine concern for the welfare of the residents and we felt the 'family' atmosphere as soon as we entered the building.
Being a Methodist Care Home was a bonus for us and we were able to join in services, (something that she is now unable to do from home), and talk to the chaplain.
Not only did my sister in law feel supported, her husband and myself were 'included' in the care package.
A big thank you to you all.

Thank you very much for your kind words. We have thoroughly enjoyed looking after your Sister in Law. You are right she was very nervous on arrival but very quickly became one of our family. It was our pleasure to look after such a warm and friendly lady and with a great sense of humour! We look forward to seeing her again. I will pass your lovely comments on to the staff team. It is lovely to know that the care we provide is appreciated.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.498)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.498) out of 10 for Harwood Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.798 for Harwood Court is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.798
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Harwood Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
