Wellfield is a caring environment for its residents. My mother quickly settled in and enjoyed the high-quality care and support. The building and rooms are clean and bright and welcoming. The food is lovely and there is an extensive range of daily activities, including arts and crafts and baking plus stimulating sessions to create interest. The staff are always helpful and reassuring and responded to any query we had and keep the resident's interest at heart, especially those with dementia. The management go above and beyond and made the whole process easy from the start. I would highly recommend.

I have recently placed mum into the care of Wellfield Residential Care Home. Having looked at several alternatives I was particularly impressed by the care there with all staff maintaining a high level of contact with the residents who were treated with dignity.

Strong leadership from management and seniors provide me with the confidence that mum will be well cared for. I am also impressed by the good level of feedback on a day to day issues. All the staff treat the residents like their own. When you walk in you are met with smiles from all the workers from the managers to the cleaners! They have a depth of knowledge about my mum and a caring, loving approach to her care. I feel as though they are part of my family. After every visit, I walk away knowing she will be treated with dignity and respect moreover love.

The care my mum received was first class, all the staff were welcoming, friendly and professional.
My mum had her own room which was basic but comfortable, and lounges and seating areas where available
My mum enjoyed the regular activities during the day, from painting, craft, games and music etc which were put on by the staff.
The food was good and they adapted the menu as my mum was on a gluten-free diet.
Visiting times were not restricted but visitors were encouraged not to come during meal times
One area I think could be improved would be outside sitting areas and the garden, however when mum was leaving to go back home, we did receive a newsletter asking for volunteers to help with the garden area, so not sure if this has been done or not.

Overall I would recommend this home as my mum enjoyed her time here. I would like to thank all the staff for the support and help they gave my mum while she stayed here THANK YOU ??

We're glad that Mum has come to Wellfield, we visited a number of homes in Flintshire but we didn't get the same feeling as we did with Wellfield. You're treated with respect and made to feel very welcome. Mum is happy and she has settled into the home extremely well, better than we had imagined.

What can I say, nothing but great things about this care home? I visited the home with my wife initially planning to visit 5 other homes within the area. On entering Wellfield we were greeted by a staff member who welcomed us and attended to our every need. We didn’t arrange an appointment to view the home however, we were made to feel so welcome. A young chap came to greet us (Deputy Manager) and showed us around. He was very welcoming and answered all of our questions. The atmosphere in the home was amazing, so much laughter and excitement. I will be honest, the home needs a slight makeover in parts but the Deputy manager assured us that plans were in place. We were so happy with how we got treated and what we have seen, my sister is now a resident at Wellfield and is more than happy to be there. Thank you to all the staff and management for making us all feel welcome, by far the most homely place in the area.

I can not tell you how happy I am with my friends care that she is receiving in the home. All the staff at Wellfield have embraced her and they encourage her to participate in all activities. It's wonderful seeing photos of her having fun and really enjoying herself. It's hard for me to come over and see her as much but I can now log on and see what she's getting up to. Thank you so much to everyone at Wellfield for giving me peace of mind and making her look and feel so happy. Pearlcare have really turned that place around since April 2019 and I can't thank them all enough.

My wife only spent five nights at Wellfield, but her care and attention was excellent. The home is very welcoming and have very good activities. All the staff were lovely and friendly - plenty of cups of tea were available. The management have excellent rapport with staff and dig in to help when needed - I put this down to their friendliness and people skills.

We can't think of a better place for our Mum to be than Wellfield. The staff are all lovely, they go above and beyond what you would expect them to do. The home is beautiful, homely and perfect for our Mum. The food is lovely, Mum has always had a good appetite so that's a plus. It was great to see both Managers getting involved on the shop floor, they are so kind, caring and compassionate. Thank you to all the amazing staff at Wellfield and continue doing what you do.

A successful environment is created by good leadership. The new management have transformed this care home! Their professional drive is supported by their warm and welcoming personalities. They have such a positive approach to their work ethic and this proves infectious with staff motivation and pride in their work high.
The management are transforming the appearance of the home with new furniture and decoration. Currently, there are exciting plans for the menu and the refurbishment of the dining room (which they inform me, they are doing themselves). Everywhere looks cared for and residents are warm and comfortable in lovely rooms. There is lots going on. In the last two nights there has been an American Diner themed evening and a Halloween party. Lots of family visitors came along to join in the fun.

It certainly is a 'home from home' for the residents, cared for by lovely staff. I know this is going to improve even more as the management further establish their ethos.

I visited Wellfield with my husband in September 2019 to see our beloved friend from Grimsby. The home had a lovely atmosphere, plenty of things were going on and our lovely friend seemed happy. Lots of photos showing what she's been getting up to and how much fun she is having while waiting to come home, if she wants to come home. All the staff have been lovely, we were offered a cup of tea on arrival with biscuits and made to feel so welcome. The dining room looked a little dated and could do with a touch-up of paint but the home itself compared to our visit in April 2019 looked so much different. We got to meet with both the Deputy Manager and Home Manager to find out how our friend was doing and they were both welcoming and very supportive. Our friend has been having trouble with her phone signal so we did pass that on to management who were going to look into it for us. Our friend is happy and so are we.

My Nan went for respite just after Christmas at Wellfield where she was extremely well looked after by all the staff, I only visited my nan once during the time she was at Wellfield due to work commitments but I did call via phone on many occasions where I was updated regarding my nans day, how she had eaten and the messages I left were passed on to my loved one.
The day I collected my nan and her belongings were neatly packed and I noticed her room was exceptionally clean.
All of the staff made such a fuss and reduced myself and my nan to tears, if we ever required respite again my nan would without a shadow of a doubt return.
My nan since being back at home with my mum has spoken so highly of the home and certain staff.

My nan would like a message to be passed to the young pretty girl in dark blue with black hair as she treated my nan like a queen were her words.

Reply from Manager, Care Home Manager at Wellfield Residential Care Home

Many thanks for your kind words. It was a pleasure to care for Nan and we would like nothing more than to have the opportunity again in the future.

My grandad walked into Wellfield on March 9th and was taken out of there to hospital on May 5th 2018. In the time he was there, he fell 4 times, only 2 of those times we were told about. He was left without his medication for approximately a week which again we were not told about. As someone who is living with Parkinson's, it is imperative that he has his medication on time numerous times a day, not one missed let alone a week's worth.

He was taken to hospital with aspiration pneumonia and had we listened to the advice of the 'carers' in Wellfield he would not be with us today. He is now immobile and half the man he was going into Wellfield. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

My mum suffers from Alzheimer's and has been a resident at Wellfield for 2 1/2 years during which time she has been very well looked after. She seems content and is in good physical health. I get the impression that the staff really care for the people that live in the home and they try to make life in the home as fulfilling as possible. Well done everybody, keep it up!!

My name is Rachael, I grew up in Holywell, Flintshire, and have lived there for most of my life. I moved to Ormskirk in 2005 to study Social Work Studies at Edgehill University. This is where I found my passion for caring for other people and decided that I wanted to work in social care. I believe that there is no better reward, than helping others at any stage in life, and to see them live their life as happy as they can be in an environment where they are safe and cared for.

I am currently working towards a qualification in Health and social care advanced practice at level 5.

My current role here at Wellfield is Deputy Care Manager, this involves supporting the Manager and team in providing a high standard of care to our residents, ensuring that all their daily living needs are met and ensuring that we are providing a service that they deserve and to be able to live out their life as comfortable and as happy as they can be.

Before working at Wellfield, I spent 9 years working with children and young adults who had a learning disability, our role was to support the individuals in a residential setting to learn and develop new life skills and to support them to live as independently as possible in a home environment. I spent the last two years working there as a team leader, where I led the team of life skills instructors. I have also spent 4 years working in a nursing home where I was also a senior for the last 6 months that I worked there.
