The Review Score of 6.7 (maximum of 10) for Chirk Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 5 out of 5 from 2 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Chirk Court in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 1.7 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 2 years. (A 2 year period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 12 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 5 for Chirk Court is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 1.701 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chirk Court is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 = 3.25 then divided by 2 = 1.625
Target of 13.2 positive Reviews (66 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 13.2 Target = 0.152 , then divided by 2 = 0.076

Since Mum moved into Chirk Court, we have seen a great improvement in her health and well-being. Mum has settled in well and she always appears happy and contented. We feel part of an extended family when visiting Mum and nothing is too much trouble for staff. They have made it their mission to get to know Mum and she is very much treated as an individual, with her preferences, wishes and choices informing the way she is supported. The general atmosphere within the home is warm and welcoming, with consideration given to the comfort of residents. Furnishing and fittings are beautiful, and the design and layout are conducive to supporting individuals to live well with dementia. We have found staff to be professional in all aspects of their work; respect and dignity are promoted and high standards are maintained throughout the home. It is a joy to see the improvement in Mum's physical and emotional well-being - this is most certainly dementia care at its' best.

Lisa Johnson, Registered Manager at Chirk Court responded to this review on 28 Feb 2017:
Many thanks for your outstanding remarks and review of Chirk Court service delivery. Our aim is to create a home for people living with dementia and a "place called home" for both residents and families who are such an important part of creating a successful care home. Small households of 14 residents enable us to provide care in an extended family atmosphere, echoing Sterling University principles for the quality delivery of care for those individuals living with dementia. An improvement in physical and emotional/ psychological well-being following a move to Chirk Court is a real testimony to the environment and team and I am delighted as the registered manager to receive such positive feedback. I will share this with the team and thank you for your time and consideration with your comments.

I am so glad I found this lovely place for my Mum for respite, she is happy to come here which for me says it all. The main difference is the environment itself, the layout of each household is totally different from other care homes we have tried and it has a lovely 'feel' to it as soon as you walk in the door. Having her own good size en-suite bedroom gives mum the option to stay in her room without feeling confined. We found all the staff here very kind and patient and this includes everyone we saw - the manager who welcomed me and my mother - he is very caring and has gone the extra mile to help. The ladies on reception who always welcome with a cheery smile and ensure queries are sorted, the staff on the household who were kind and attentive to my mother's needs, the activities co-ordinator who helped my mother to feel included and the team of ladies who keep it clean, bring the lovely food and do the laundry - everyone is just so pleasant and helpful.
