I was very worried about how my Aunty would settle in Chirk Court. She has lived in her own flat until she was 101. We tried to get her in other homes, but refused to go.
She settled so well, within a week. She is very happy and loves it. She says the food is excellent.

She is always very clean and tidy. Excellent home.

Arrived here July 2023 after several falls and breaks ending up in hospital several times. Since being at Chirk Court I am pleased to say I am safe and protected. I am very relaxed and my family love coming to visit me. They enjoy both the orangery and gardens and so do I. I believe I am lucky to have found such a place to live. I am now 90 years old.

Mum has been in Chirk Court for two and a half years now and she receives excellent friendly care from all staff who are all extremely attentive and supportive of mum's needs. The home works very hard to supply lots of activities for all residents with the opportunity to also attend special meals/ afternoon teas for Christmas, Valentines Day and Mothers Day which have all been lovely. A lot of work has also been done to the large sensory garden to provide a beautiful open space for all residents to enjoy. I would have no hesitation to recommend Chirk Court to anyone looking for a Care home for their loved one.

A lovely care home. Feels like a hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. My mother-in-law is happy and relaxed here. A big thank you to one member of staff in particular for her work in the garden. It is a lovely place to take my mother-in-law out into. She looks forward to going out and looking at the flowers. The orangery is lovely too. Going there for a cup of tea and piece of cake is another credit to that staff member and her team.

Event - Mother's Day afternoon tea.

An absolutely perfect occasion. All staff at Chirk Court went the extra mile to provide a really lovely experience for residents and their families. Everyone was made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and plenty of it! A glass of bucks fizz was a lovely touch, my mother enjoyed two glasses!

I had a lovely visit with my dad today. The weather was beautiful so we took him down to the sensory garden in his wheelchair. It is such a fabulous space, very accessible and seating areas to stop and chat. He thoroughly enjoyed the sun on his back, listening to the birds and enjoying the planting.

What a wonderful facility for the residents, well done to all involved.

Being told my father needed care when leaving hospital I found myself in unfamiliar territory. After contact with Chirch Court and meeting some of the staff, whilst viewing there was never any question, I wanted my father to live there. Their help and support was invaluable making my father's transition from hospital seamless.
The acommodation is bright and airy with a modern but homely feel. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Meal prepared and cooked on site. The selection is excellent. There is even home made cake and drinking facilities in the orangery where visitors can sit with family members if they wish. The well laid out gardens also provide a place to sit and enjoy good weather. A different daily activity encourages my father to meet with other residents, however if he chooses he can stay in his room or the lounge. This encourages him to socialise and help his mental stimulation.

My father's every need is catered for with compassion. Nothing is too much trouble. The standard of care is second to none. Time is taken to ensure my father's comfort. As a daughter wanting the best for her father I could not ask for more. Knowing he is receiving such a high standard of care in every way and that he is comfortable and happy is priceless.

Dad has recently moved here, and since his move 6 weeks ago, I have been very happy with the quality of care, the friendly attentiveness of the whole team and the ethos of the place. My siblings have commented on how well cared for Dad has appeared in recent weeks. Dad has consistently been in pretty good spirits and quick to settle into such a welcoming environment, even though he is a creature of habit! We had a very pleasant hour out in a corner of the garden, which is a bit of a sun-trap last Sunday!

The unit itself is modern, spotlessly clean and well designed to help someone with dementia. My father-in-law's room is lovely with an excellent en suite bathroom. The staff are superb. The overall experience is a positive one. The only niggle is having to ask for a hand towel for my mothers bathroom. Whoever cleans the bathroom takes out the old towels but then doesn't replace them with fresh ones. Its basic stuff. I think Chirk Court has a really nice atmosphere. The staff are really nice and helpful. I would heartily recommend Chirk Court. The home offers good value for money despite the recent increase.

Words can't do justice to how lovely this home and staff are. It was such a homely atmosphere to visit my mother in law and all the staff from the front desk to the carers, really could not be any better. The facilities were always clean and tidy. We could even bring out dogs in to see my mother in law which really made her day. This place is really not your typical care home and your family members could not be in a better place.

Jane HumphreysJob Title:Care Home ManagerJoined: 2023

My Name is Jane Humphreys I have worked in the care Industry since 1991 progressing from working in Dom care setting supporting people in their homes, progressing to working as a support worker with Residents who had been supported by hospitals to be supported in supportive leaving, I then progressed to Deputy in 1997.

In 1998 I became a registered Home Manager over Two supportive living homes.

During this time I completed My Registered Manager award which also includes my Higher Manager award in managing Care home services, Also My Further Education Teacher Training.

In 2004 I became a home manager for a children's home where I also completed my Registered Manager qualification in Children’s Services Underneath Ofsted.

In 2006 My Mother passed away In a nursing Home at the age of 67, and I felt I needed to change my direction In care.

I managed a Residential Care home in Powys, working with Commissioning, CIW, NHS, and ALSO Local. It was here that I trained with Bradford University which related to specialised dementia care mapping and improvement of quality with dementia and Mental Health Services. This was an excellent opportunity to look at the training that each staff member needed to undertake to look at the key skills which were essential to supporting residents with Dementia.

I feel that I have a clear understanding of how it feels when you place your loved ones into a care home, after my mother was admitted into the care home I could become her daughter again rather than her carer. I feel with this life experience with a loved one being in a care home I have a better understanding.

Within My new role as the Care Home Manager at Chirk Court, I find it a huge privilege to be at the home, looking at each household and how unique the home is in supporting each resident with the home to be as independent as possible valuing them and treating them with respect and Dignity.
