Chirk Court offers high-quality care in a warm, friendly and homely environment. The well-being, care comfort and quality of life for residents is the home's primary objective. The home is set in a quiet residential area of Chirk and is easily accessible to the amenities within the community. Local transport is available providing a regular service to Wrexham, Oswestry and Llangollen areas.

With over 23 years’ experience, Chirk Court has extended its services to meet the needs of residents living with dementia, which includes a new purpose-built extension which was completed in Spring 2016.

The unit offers state-of-the-art facilities, with four dementia care EMH households each with 14 residents. The fifth household provides residential care for ten residents. The design is based on the University of Stirling’s principles and standards of excellent dementia care delivery.

All staff are trained professionally and are qualified appropriate to their respective roles. This includes specialist training in caring for people living with dementia.

Catering staff pride themselves on knowing the individual preferences and needs of residents who can enjoy high-quality, nutritious and a varied selections of meals.

The charges for Chirk Court Care Home include all aspects of care and services provided inclusive of high levels of staffing, laundry and cleaning staff and facilities, medication ordering, management and administration of medications and onward referrals to health services and specialist health professionals to support the individual within the care home.


We will conduct professional meetings with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding and review, social worker reviews, referrals to healthcare professionals and GP twice weekly clinics which are conducted by doctors in the care home for ease of Residents living within our support services.


The fees reflect a bespoke care home, recently built on our existing 30 year care home site with an excellent reputation, offering bespoke services and support, adaptive technology to maintain independence and staffing levels close to nursing support levels. The home is based on the Sterling University model for excellence in dementia care with individual households accommodating no more than 14 residents, allocated continuity of staff to develop and maintain excellent relationships and individual rooms with full en suite facilities.


There is a full time Activity Coordinator employed within Chirk Court to develop and plan individual and Group Activities for stimulation and wellbeing, working weekends also to ensure quality of life, choice and opportunity to live life at our best at all times.

It is three months since my dad arrived. The staff have helped him settle in well. Very helpful and caring. Room is comfortable and is ideal (not sure about the colour!). Food is very well prepared, in fact he has put much needed weight on! As a family, we feel very happy with the care provided.

I would like to thank all the staff for the warm welcome extended to family and friends. My Mum had a wonderful 90th birthday thanks to the staff going the extra mile. Despite Mum's confusion, she was able to relate to my brother, what a great time she had. We even received photos of Mum having her
cake with her friends at the home later that day.

Since the introduction to Chirk Court, I wish to complement the reception area, it portrays a calming and relaxing environment. This is extremely reassuring as it continues throughout. It is demonstrated by the staff in the unit who are approachable if any specific needs require addressing. Clearly,
the staff strive to become familiar with all the individual residents to provide a high level of care. It is a pleasure to support the staff and appreciated how they care so well for my brother.

Chirk Court Care Home is a beautifully furnished and decorated care home surrounded by gardens. My mum often comments on these aspects of her home. Her 'household' is all on one floor. This is something she didn't have in her previous home and is a definite plus. She also has her own shower room with
toilet and basin - all ensuite. Often when I visit I take her down to the orangery for coffee and cake and she thinks she's in a cafe (she has Alzheimer's). Care is good and activities are frequent.

Chirk Court Care Home is always a friendly place to visit, there's a feeling of openness, it's light and airy and has a pleasant feel to it. My mother is treated well, the staff understand her "little ways" and treat her accordingly. I can communicate with all staff and have a good relationship with
them.
One problem with her household is that it's too hot and her radiator will not turn off, it's not easy for some residents or staff to work in it.

My friend went into a care home earlier in the summer and to be honest, it nearly destroyed her. Thankfully we got her moved to Chirk Court, and even though initially it was a struggle for her as she had lost her independence, it is the best move she has ever made! She is happy, contented and motivated
as there are loads of activities. The environment is superb, with no smell of anything and the management and staff are amazing. If you want to secure a happy future put your name down now. A massive thanks to everyone for doing such a wonderful heartfelt job you are all amazing!

Right from the start I felt relaxed and happy that Mum was safe and being cared for with such compassion and professionalism. I was always treated as a friend, not just another relative, and felt totally included in Mum's care. I only have one query which is a possible lack of stimulation - the majority
of residents being bedbound and the impossibility of arranging many activities/social events because of Covid. This is not a criticism but just life! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I have no hesitation in recommending Chirk Court Care Home to anyone who requires care. My husband has been at Chirk Court for eighteen months and I am confident that he is safe and being well cared for in all respects. The staff in all sections are kind, friendly and patient towards both residents
and visitors. The carers are competent, deal with situations calmly and put the safety and security of residents as a priority. They form bonds with residents and show genuine interest in their well-being. There is a sense of unity among the staff who go out of their way to help residents and create a relaxed, homely atmosphere. The household is always clean and the personal hygiene of the residents is high. Residents are encouraged to socialise, with individual needs supported as necessary yet allowing independence to be maintained as far as possible. National events and festivities are celebrated and the daily chat sheet stimulates residents giving them a sense of belonging.

Chirk Court Care Home provides outstanding care. Staff are very friendly, efficient and professional, providing a welcoming environment for family members and visitors. Through Covid, staff worked extremely hard and with outstanding professionalism. We were always given updates on my mother’s condition.
The care my mother receives at Chirk Court has always been excellent. She has not spoken sentences in all the time she has been there, even so, all the staff fully understand her needs and likes. In short, every single carer and associated staff are wonderful. The personal touch that is offered to residents provides a ‘homely’ environment and they have always treated our family as part of the Chirk Court Care Home family. On special days such as birthdays, Christmas and Easter, particular effort is given to ensure residents experience the full atmosphere of that time of year. We are and will always be, so grateful to every staff member at Chirk Court for the work they do in caring for 'Mum'.

I would highly recommend Chirk Court for anyone you may have to go into care. They are fantastic the staff are friendly and helpful and in my dads case, they have gone above and beyond to attend to his needs. The rooms are lovely and the lounges are lovely to sit in with family. It is a very clean environment
and the food is great. There is always a cup of tea on offer and if you need to chat about your person in care, all staff are more than willing to help and if they don't have the answer, they will put you onto someone who will. My dad has been in this care home for over a year now and he sees it as his home and he is very happy there. In my opinion, if you are lucky enough to get your loved one a place here, you will never regret your choice as it's amazing.

As a family, we would like to write a review regarding the wonderful care that Dad benefited from. Sadly, he was only at Chirk Court for six weeks. His care, from start to the end, was wonderful. He was managed with great professionalism, patience and understanding of his specific needs. He was loved
and cared for and the team always took time to engage with the family as well. He particularly valued being allowed to try to look after himself. The household way of working is an ideal, well designed, well-managed unit, with a great patient to staff ratio. He regularly commented about the good food that he enjoyed. His medical needs were very well met, with regular meals, liquids and the correct and up to date medication, with good support from the local GP’s. Dad passed away peacefully and content in his sleep and we are very blessed for that. Thank you.

I have previously written a review regarding the excellent standard of care my mum was receiving at Chirk Court but felt it was important to comment on my family's most recent experiences. Mum recently passed away at the home and I felt that I needed to comment on how well mum continued to be looked
after in the last weeks of her life. The love and dedication shown to mum was a real comfort to the family and we are deeply grateful to the staff for supporting us through a very difficult and emotional time. My family and I spent many long hours by mum's bedside and we witnessed first hand the love, care and compassion shown to mum, in ensuring her last days were as comfortable and pain-free as possible. Staff were responsive to any changes and pro-active in avoiding additional complications such as pressure areas. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we take great comfort in knowing that mum received the best care possible. I would definitely recommend this home to others.

I am so glad I found this lovely place for my Mum for respite, she is happy to come here which for me says it all. The main difference is the environment itself, the layout of each household is totally different from other care homes we have tried and it has a lovely 'feel' to it as soon as you walk
in the door. Having her own good size en-suite bedroom gives mum the option to stay in her room without feeling confined. We found all the staff here very kind and patient and this includes everyone we saw - the manager who welcomed me and my mother - he is very caring and has gone the extra mile to help. The ladies on reception who always welcome with a cheery smile and ensure queries are sorted, the staff on the household who were kind and attentive to my mother's needs, the activities co-ordinator who helped my mother to feel included and the team of ladies who keep it clean, bring the lovely food and do the laundry - everyone is just so pleasant and helpful.

My Name is Jane Humphreys I have worked in the care Industry since 1991 progressing from working in Dom care setting supporting people in their homes, progressing to working as a support worker with Residents who had been supported by hospitals to be supported in supportive leaving, I then progressed to Deputy in 1997.


In 1998 I became a registered Home Manager over Two supportive living homes.


During this time I completed My Registered Manager award which also includes my Higher Manager award in managing Care home services, Also My Further Education Teacher Training.


In 2004 I became a home manager for a children's home where I also completed my Registered Manager qualification in Children’s Services Underneath Ofsted.

In 2006 My Mother passed away In a nursing Home at the age of 67, and I felt I needed to change my direction In care.


I managed a Residential Care home in Powys, working with Commissioning, CIW, NHS, and ALSO Local. It was here that I trained with Bradford University which related to specialised dementia care mapping and improvement of quality with dementia and Mental Health Services. This was an excellent opportunity to look at the training that each staff member needed to undertake to look at the key skills which were essential to supporting residents with Dementia.


I feel that I have a clear understanding of how it feels when you place your loved ones into a care home, after my mother was admitted into the care home I could become her daughter again rather than her carer. I feel with this life experience with a loved one being in a care home I have a better understanding.


Within My new role as the Care Home Manager at Chirk Court, I find it a huge privilege to be at the home, looking at each household and how unique the home is in supporting each resident with the home to be as independent as possible valuing them and treating them with respect and Dignity.

After having my family, I worked as a receptionist/admin


I started work at Chirk Court Care Home in September 2017, as the receptionist/admin.


The work is very varied, never a dull moment, interesting and very rewarding. Although very busy, we have fun, the work is rewarding and we work well together as a team.


I have worked in the admin field since 1997 after having my children.


I have worked In the care field as an admin since 2014 when I was an admin at a Large care Home.

I really enjoy interacting and meeting and greeting People coming into Chirk Court whether visitors professionals, family, contractors, or staff, It is all about first impressions.


I absolutely love going to the households at Chirk Court and getting to know the residents.


It is such a lovely care home to work in. We ensure that we are all working together as a team from management, lead senior, seniors, carers, Housekeepers, cooks, and handymen to admin we ensure that the the residents are in the centre of everything we do, looking at and ensuring that Clwyd Alyn Values are part of what we do Trust Hope and kindness

Job Title: Training Admin Joined: 2007

I have worked within Clwyd Alyn since January 2007.
I have worked within Chirk Court as the Training Admin since I transferred to the home in April 2015.


My main role is to look at the training that is being provided throughout the care home, booking courses, linking in with internal and external providers ensuring that we are Compliant. Ensure staff portfolios of training are in place.


I work closely with the manager and the team at Chirk court to ensure that we are meeting te targets that are required to ensure that all the staff have the knowledge and understanding to allow them to practise safely within Chirk Court.


Although my role can change throughout the day, where I may be looking at purchase orders supporting the front of the home when my colleagues are on leave, it is very diverse which I enjoy.


I find that Clwyd Alyn's Values are very clear with Trust Hope and Kindness.


Chirk Court is home to the residents and we are all very value-based

Since leaving school I have worked my way up from receptionist to Personal assistant. A number of years ago my husband and I went to work in the Middle East, with a plan to move back to England.


In 2023 I moved back to the United Kingdom and my husband and I have now bought a lovely cottage in the Chirk Area where I love being in my garden bringing flowers into the care home and helping the residents in the gardens that they have here.


I applied to work at Chirk Court as I thought the value bases and the feedback about Clwyd Alyn were Excellent, Most of all I wanted to come and work in the community- where I live and give something back.

My Main role at Chirk Court is to ensure that the staffing is correct for each of the households.


With Chirk Court, we have 5 households with a separate Staff team, led by a senior in each household.


The staffing ratio within the care home is excellent, I will link with the staff team looking at coverage for annual leave and sickness so that the households have the staffing in place to run smoothly and effectively.


I have only been at Chirk Court since February of this year but I absolutely love it here. The manager is very proactive here and is led by the resident needs.


As a team, we all work together- where we will support each other and cover each other jobs when staff are on leave.

Throughout my working life, I have been in a number of different roles, such as trainer and Manager at M and S Financial Services, working with bank settings and supporting vulnerable customers guiding them with their Financial difficulties and sign-posting them to support groups, I have been a manager within a high-end hairdressers, and managing a call centres support team member with their development ensuring all services level were met.


I applied to Clwyd Alyn as I was impressed with the values that they had, the job That I applied for was for only one year which was a brand new role as A quality Assurance Admin but on reading the reviews I felt that I wanted to be part of the Working Group. However, the contract then changed to permanent and I have been at Chirk Court since 2018.


My main role is to ensure that the home remains Compliant with in remit of CIW, I work with the Registered manager to ensure that all areas of the care home are covered whether this be a resident Dols, staff registration to Social Care Wales, looking also at Certificates and work that is necessary with thin the home.


I am the Staff Forum Rep for Care homes within the company, where I will link in with all staff gaining insight into what they are doing feeling etc, and working with them and supporting them with changes.


In 2023 Clwyd Alyn supported me in gaining my Level 4 In Preparing for Leadership in Health and Social Care.


Within Chirk Court with have a team of Admins who we work together to ensure that the home Runs Smoothly

Hayley Parry

Job Title: Lead Senior Joined: 2016

My name is Hayley Parry, I started in care in 2010 as a part-time activities coordinator. I did this role for 12 months before becoming a care practitioner. In 2011 I started Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care then became a senior and completed Level 3 and 5 diploma in Health and Social Care. Within this service, I also became a key trainer for manual handling, a training mentor, a social care partner and a staff partner.


I started at Chirk Court in 2016 as a care practitioner and have completed my training to become a six-step palliative care champion. In 2017 I became a senior care practitioner and I am currently undertaking Level 4 Introduction to Leadership and Management. I have just started a new role within the company as a lead senior at Chirk Court along with my Colleague Jackie.

Jackie Roger

Job Title: Lead Senior Joined: 2018

Jackie has been working in the care environment for nearly 12 years, Jackie started off by working in the community where she would be visiting people in the community in their homes, Jackie was working within one of our assistance living schemes in Plas Telford, where she enjoyed working with Clwyd Alyn where she decided to come over to work directly with Clwyd Alyn at Chirk Court where she came to work as a night staff member in 2018, where she then was successful in her application for senior, Jackie has worked within the home on a number of households and has a vast amount of knowledge and experience.


Recently she has been successfully in the lead senior position at Chirk Court so she has actively worked her way through the roles in Chirk Court and has a clear understanding of what staff roles And responsibilities are.


Jackie has very clear values in place and supported the team in looking at how residents may feel coming into a care home, looking at respecting them as individuals and supporting family members through how they are feeling about their loved ones coming into the care home.


Jackie is in the process of completing her level 3 then she will be supported to start her level 4. Jackie has completed in the 6 steps of palliative care

Michelle Laing

Job Title: Lead House keeper Joined: 2016

Michelle has been at Chirk Court since 2016, where she was employed as a housekeeper, previously she has had experience working as an area manager in a supers market where she did routine checks and supported the supermarkets she was allocated to.


She came for the position of housekeeper as she felt that she needed a change, she loves working at the home she enjoys interacting with the residents and making a change.


This year she was successful as the lead Housekeeper where she supported her team in looking at all areas of the home to ensure high-quality cleaning and also supporting residents with their laundry looking at meaningful activities in their households.

Christell

Christell Williams

Job Title: Lead House Cook Joined: 2002

Christell has been employed within Clwyd Alyn for 16 years, She started at Chirk Court as a Kitchen Assistant, to cover maternity leave, then after a year became a relief cook working weekends .


she then was offered a Cook position in the home where she was offered the chance to complete her Qualification.
In 2023 she was offered the Lead cook position where she is a key part of leading the kitchen team, her dedication to the home and to her team is excellent. She looks at the rotas to ensure that the team has suitable staffing in place. She looks at supporting the team around key areas of allergens.


Recently Christell has led her team in gaining 5* in Food standards which she has achieved for a number of years.


She is regularly part of the household meeting so she can gauge what residents have enjoyed and what they would like to have on the menu.

Laura

Laura Shone

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2025

My name is Laura Shone I have worked in the care sector for 15 years.
I started my career as a care practitioner in Nursing care and the developed my skills into Dementia nursing care.
While working in a Nursing setting, I completed my level 2, 3 & 5 diploma in health and social in care.
In 2018, I became an inhouse trainer. My role was to train all staff in many aspects of care.
While doing my trainer role I became a 6 steps champion in end-of-life care and my main role was to also train this to all staff.
In 2020 my role changed to lead trainer and assistant to the deputy manager.
In 2024 I was very privileged to win gold at the care awards for commitment to training & workforce development.
It's such a privilege to work at Chirk Court, with such strong values and beliefs.
