Chirk Court has a Review Score of 10 (9.952) out of 10, based on 116 reviews in the last 2 years.
Over all time Chirk Court has 149 reviews.
The new management has responded well to any issues raised.
The buildings and surroundings are well-kept and attractive.
I would be happy to recommend Chirk Court.
Thank you so much for your kind words, if there is anything else you would like to discuss please come and see me within the home.
Very clean, and always there when I need them.
Caring for Dad.
Thank you for your feedback, it's lovely to hear how positive you feel about the home and the care that your father is having.
This has to be down to the supporting care and the engagement in activities etc. that the carers at the home are providing.
Thank you for filling in a review card. This information is accessed by families considering this service and this is first-hand feedback from those who have tried the services that we provide is always the best. I will feed this back to the household
My mother was in a care home in another location and wished to move to Chirk after she had heard good reports about Chirk Court. I contacted the home manager and from day one noted the friendly, hands-on approach. She invited me to the home to have a look around and I was impressed with how she took me around in person and how she knew and spent time talking to every resident. My mother moved in a few days later and she seems to be a different person having regained her self-esteem. Each and every staff member I have met has been very helpful and encourages Mum to join in with the other residents. Keep up the good work. Mum has not been at Chirk Court long enough yet to comment on activities and value for money but I am sure both of these will score highly if the other areas of the home are anything to go by.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, I will forward this to the household staff team.
We find Chirk Court a warm and welcoming environment. Mum is very understood and looked after. The activities co-ordinator works hard to provide a variety of activities and visitors, especially at special festival times. If problems arise, the staff deal with them with understanding and kindness. We are more than happy with our choice of Chirk Court for Mum. The only thing I'd like to see is some external visits if that were possible.
Could you link in with me to establish what external visits you would like.
I would prefer lunch served later - such as 1 pm and the afternoon tea/dinner later than 4.30 pm.
I appreciate being moved to a quieter room.
This year has been the very first time that I have ever visited Chirk Court. Even from the outside the building is welcoming and as soon as you enter, the lady on reception is ready to greet you with a smile. The staff honestly go above and beyond to make sure the residents are comfortable and happy. The decor is modern and the Christmas decorations were out of this world! Well done Chirk Court for going teh extra mile in making it a homely, welcoming, safe and happy place for all your residents.
Thank you for the lovely review, it is so nice to hear the experiences that you have had in the home are to this high standard.
Care staff in Dyfrynn are happy to update us on how Mum is doing. My only concern was that Muum developed norovirus and we were not informed. We turned up for a visit, but we were advised not to see Mum. It would have been nice to have been informed.
My mum has been a resident at Chirk Court for nearly twelve months now. She settled quickly and is very happy in the warm, welcoming and supportive environment. The staff took time to get to know her, and her likes and dislikes. They always seem to make time to spend with her for a chat or do a jigsaw together. Staff are very welcoming to the family and happy to offer a cuppa and answer any questions. The management are also very supportive and have been quick to respond to any queries/issues, be it care-related or financial. Mum is well cared-for, yet supported to maintain her independence as far as possible.
Thank you for your review, I am glad to hear your mum has settled into Chirk Court and everything is going well. Staff strive to make everyone feel welcome and are always on hand to help. As managers, we are always happy to help with any queries/issues at any time.
My mother has just moved here after an eighteen month long stay at a care home in Wrexham. Although she has only been here one week, the first impressions are very good. The rooms are lovely, big and bright. The reception area is lovely and welcoming and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Lovely to hear your positive feedback, also that we could accommodated your requested for your mum to come in to Chirk Court
My grandmother has lived at Chirk Court for one year. She has been supported to settle in. Staff have got to know what my nan likes and makes sure she is involved in what is important to her. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit.
What a lovely review, thank you for your taking the time to fill in this review.
It is three months since my dad arrived. The staff have helped him settle in well. Very helpful and caring. Room is comfortable and is ideal (not sure about the colour!). Food is very well prepared, in fact he has put much needed weight on! As a family, we feel very happy with the care provided.
Thank you for your review, if you would like to support Dad in choosing the colour for his room, we are more than happy to do this to make his room more suitable to his liking.
I would like to thank all the staff for the warm welcome extended to family and friends. My Mum had a wonderful 90th birthday thanks to the staff going the extra mile. Despite Mum's confusion, she was able to relate to my brother, what a great time she had. We even received photos of Mum having her cake with her friends at the home later that day.
Kind regards.
Well looked after. Have lovely room, which is personal with my own things. Food excellent. Talk to family using a tablet and they visit often. Admin and management are good.
Thank you, it is great to hear the positive feedback from you.
Since the introduction to Chirk Court, I wish to complement the reception area, it portrays a calming and relaxing environment. This is extremely reassuring as it continues throughout. It is demonstrated by the staff in the unit who are approachable if any specific needs require addressing. Clearly, the staff strive to become familiar with all the individual residents to provide a high level of care. It is a pleasure to support the staff and appreciated how they care so well for my brother.
Thank you for your lovely feedback looking at the first impression that you have on coming in to the home. I also really appreciate the kind words that you have relayed about my staff team.
My mother-in-law has been on Ceriog for two years and all staff, past and present, have been wonderful. It helps when greeted by a wonderful lady on reception, she is always so pleasant. Thanks to all the staff who look after our mum really well.
It is lovely to hear this.
Chirk Court Care Home is a beautifully furnished and decorated care home surrounded by gardens. My mum often comments on these aspects of her home. Her 'household' is all on one floor. This is something she didn't have in her previous home and is a definite plus. She also has her own shower room with toilet and basin - all ensuite. Often when I visit I take her down to the orangery for coffee and cake and she thinks she's in a cafe (she has Alzheimer's). Care is good and activities are frequent.
If you would like to discuss anything with myself, as a manager, my Door is always open.
Excellent communication, friendly, informative and thorough. My mother was visited in her previous care home and everything was explained.
This is so important to ensure that there is a good understanding from our side to establishing the support that Mum would need, ensuring the transition into Chirk Court is smooth.
My friend went into a care home earlier in the summer and to be honest, it nearly destroyed her. Thankfully we got her moved to Chirk Court, and even though initially it was a struggle for her as she had lost her independence, it is the best move she has ever made! She is happy, contented and motivated as there are loads of activities. The environment is superb, with no smell of anything and the management and staff are amazing. If you want to secure a happy future put your name down now. A massive thanks to everyone for doing such a wonderful heartfelt job you are all amazing!
Thank You so much for such sincere and honest feedback. As the registered manager, I'm so pleased to hear such positive and inspiring comments regarding the activities, staff and management of Chirk Court. We strive so hard to enable residents to lead their best lives and live in a "home" that is...
Right from the start I felt relaxed and happy that Mum was safe and being cared for with such compassion and professionalism. I was always treated as a friend, not just another relative, and felt totally included in Mum's care. I only have one query which is a possible lack of stimulation - the majority of residents being bedbound and the impossibility of arranging many activities/social events because of Covid. This is not a criticism but just life! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks so much for your feedback, as this is always appreciated and as the Manager, we very much appreciate the challenges both you and we face in supporting each individual who lives within a supported in-bed situation. We have received funding, and detailed information in the Chirk Court...

My Name is Jane Humphreys I have worked in the care Industry since 1991 progressing from working in Dom care setting supporting people in their homes, progressing to working as a support worker with Residents who had been supported by hospitals to be supported in supportive leaving, I then progressed to Deputy in 1997.
In 1998 I became a registered Home Manager over Two supportive living homes.
During this time I completed My Registered Manager award which also includes my Higher Manager award in managing Care home services, Also My Further Education Teacher Training.
In 2004 I became a home manager for a children's home where I also completed my Registered Manager qualification in Children’s Services Underneath Ofsted. In 2006 My Mother passed away In a nursing Home at the age of 67, and I felt I needed to change my direction In care.
I managed a Residential Care home in Powys, working with Commissioning, CIW, NHS, and ALSO Local. It was here that I trained with Bradford University which related to specialised dementia care mapping and improvement of quality with dementia and Mental Health Services. This was an excellent opportunity to look at the training that each staff member needed to undertake to look at the key skills which were essential to supporting residents with Dementia.
I feel that I have a clear understanding of how it feels when you place your loved ones into a care home, after my mother was admitted into the care home I could become her daughter again rather than her carer. I feel with this life experience with a loved one being in a care home I have a better understanding.
Within My new role as the Care Home Manager at Chirk Court, I find it a huge privilege to be at the home, looking at each household and how unique the home is in supporting each resident with the home to be as independent as possible valuing them and treating them with respect and Dignity.

After having my family, I worked as a receptionist/admin
I started work at Chirk Court Care Home in September 2017, as the receptionist/admin.
The work is very varied, never a dull moment, interesting and very rewarding. Although very busy, we have fun, the work is rewarding and we work well together as a team.
I have worked in the admin field since 1997 after having my children.
I have worked In the care field as an admin since 2014 when I was an admin at a Large care Home.I really enjoy interacting and meeting and greeting People coming into Chirk Court whether visitors professionals, family, contractors, or staff, It is all about first impressions.
I absolutely love going to the households at Chirk Court and getting to know the residents.
It is such a lovely care home to work in. We ensure that we are all working together as a team from management, lead senior, seniors, carers, Housekeepers, cooks, and handymen to admin we ensure that the the residents are in the centre of everything we do, looking at and ensuring that Clwyd Alyn Values are part of what we do Trust Hope and kindness
I have completed my Level 3 In Business Administration.

I have worked within Chirk Court as the Training Admin since I transferred to the home in April 2015.
My main role is to look at the training that is being provided throughout the care home, booking courses, linking in with internal and external providers ensuring that we are Compliant. Ensure staff portfolios of training are in place.
I work closely with the manager and the team at Chirk court to ensure that we are meeting te targets that are required to ensure that all the staff have the knowledge and understanding to allow them to practise safely within Chirk Court.
Although my role can change throughout the day, where I may be looking at purchase orders supporting the front of the home when my colleagues are on leave, it is very diverse which I enjoy.
I find that Clwyd Alyn's Values are very clear with Trust Hope and Kindness.
Chirk Court is home to the residents and we are all very value-based

Since leaving school I have worked my way up from receptionist to Personal assistant. A number of years ago my husband and I went to work in the Middle East, with a plan to move back to England.
In 2023 I moved back to the United Kingdom and my husband and I have now bought a lovely cottage in the Chirk Area where I love being in my garden bringing flowers into the care home and helping the residents in the gardens that they have here.
I applied to work at Chirk Court as I thought the value bases and the feedback about Clwyd Alyn were Excellent, Most of all I wanted to come and work in the community- where I live and give something back.My Main role at Chirk Court is to ensure that the staffing is correct for each of the households.
With Chirk Court, we have 5 households with a separate Staff team, led by a senior in each household.
The staffing ratio within the care home is excellent, I will link with the staff team looking at coverage for annual leave and sickness so that the households have the staffing in place to run smoothly and effectively.
I have only been at Chirk Court since February of this year but I absolutely love it here. The manager is very proactive here and is led by the resident needs.
As a team, we all work together- where we will support each other and cover each other jobs when staff are on leave.

Throughout my working life, I have been in a number of different roles, such as trainer and Manager at M and S Financial Services, working with bank settings and supporting vulnerable customers guiding them with their Financial difficulties and sign-posting them to support groups, I have been a manager within a high-end hairdressers, and managing a call centres support team member with their development ensuring all services level were met.
I applied to Clwyd Alyn as I was impressed with the values that they had, the job That I applied for was for only one year which was a brand new role as A quality Assurance Admin but on reading the reviews I felt that I wanted to be part of the Working Group. However, the contract then changed to permanent and I have been at Chirk Court since 2018.
My main role is to ensure that the home remains Compliant with in remit of CIW, I work with the Registered manager to ensure that all areas of the care home are covered whether this be a resident Dols, staff registration to Social Care Wales, looking also at Certificates and work that is necessary with thin the home.
