When I visited my mum the first thing I noticed was that mum didn't have any teeth in. My mum would never ever be seen without teeth, no one would unless they don't care but my mum does, always does. Mum always prides on how she looks but now my mum has to depend on others. Other people may not care how they look but my mum will never change. I always have a hard time with management at Meifod. I'm always made to feel like I'm always in the way so when it says visiting is any time, I find in my personal experience to be misleading. I was told today that I may not be able to see my mum and that has upset me and if my mum was told that she couldn't see me again that would kill her.

Reply from Nazmeen Arif, RI/Director at Meifod & Vicarage Court

I'm sorry that despite efforts from the management team to arrange a time with you to discuss your concerns, we have not been able to receive this time from you. I know that the manager has spoken to you several times about the remits of the service and we are always happy to discuss and resolve any experiences which were not to your satisfaction.

Both my mum and dad were admitted to Meifod in July after long stays in hospital following falls at home. My mum has dementia and my dad has very limited mobility so, unfortunately, they were unable to return home. This was obviously a very distressing time for me and my parents but the staff at Meifod have helped to reassure me that they are well looked after and are now starting to settle in.
The staff are all extremely helpful, kind and caring and it is obvious that they treat all the residents with care and respect. I visit twice a week and my parents are both always clean and well dressed. I am kept updated on their wellbeing and informed straight away if they are unwell or need any medical attention.
Whenever I need to contact the staff to discuss anything, they always ensure that my concerns/requests are dealt with and I am made to feel at ease that they will arrange what is required.

I am happy that my parents are safe and well looked after by all the staff at Meifod.

Reply from Nazmeen Arif, Director/RI at Meifod & Vicarage Court

Dear Karen, thank you for your review and I am happy to see that your expectations are being met, however, if there is anything else we can do to improve the service, please do not hesitate to contact me. My father was admitted to Meifod in an emergency after my mother his main carer was admitted to hospital. Without exception, every member of staff went out of their way to make his stay as comfortable as possible and I felt supported as a carer/family member. I felt reassured my father was in good hands.

The care my husband and I received at the home was the best I have ever known. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband had a very dignified end to his life that he was all down to the staff, from the lady who brought his clothes clean and fresh to the wonderful management. Thank to them all.

As a relative, I have been treated with support, dignity and kindness and I know that they are like tiger mothers and a cub with the way they treat my husband, which is so reassuring.

Thank goodness there are such people willing to work in a home.

Unfortunately unable to comment on some of the areas because I have not been in the home because of lockdown, but have regular updates and photos of Mum. She is happy and put on weight. Staff are excellent and I am so glad Mum is well looked after.

In my opinion, Meifod House care home is an extremely well-run establishment and I am very happy that my mother is a resident there. The staff within the home are always polite, very courteous and very helpful. All of the needs of the resident seem to be extremely well looked after.

In short every aspect of Meifod House care home is excellent well run and in every way possible. They are a credit to care homes and looking after the elderly.

Our mum has been in Meifod since September 2020. We are more than happy with the care she is having, because of Covid, we have not been inside but have spoken to a few of the team and they are all very friendly. My mum has told us during a pod visit she is very happy and she loved them all. They have also told us how much they love her. That in itself is enough comfort for us. Well done all at Meifod, you are a great team. Cannot wait to meet you all properly.

Reply from Nazmeen Arif, RI at Meifod & Vicarage Court

Dear Jill, thank you for your time and review. Please do arrange a face to face visit if you would like as these have been in place for several weeks now. We look forward to welcoming you at the home.

Nursing/care/domestic staff are wonderful with the residents - have made a decision which was forced upon us due to sudden ill health much easier to accept. Mum is in great hands and that makes me happy. Cannot thank the staff enough.

My mother is very well looked after at Meifod care home.
She is always clean and well presented with her hair neatly done.
She has a good rapport with the staff, and they seem to enjoy looking after her.
The food is very good, and Mum eats everything on her plate.

The garden area is pleasant and easily accessible and safe.

Mum has only been here for 2 weeks, having been in hospital for over a month due to a safeguarding issue at her last home. They are a friendly bunch, some staff more than others. Like most homes, there was a staffing issue the other night, but staff were switched round to accommodate. As they are in the middle of refurbishment I cannot give more info at this time.

Reply from Nazmeen Arif, RI at Meifod & Vicarage Court

Dear S, thank you for your review. We always ensure that enough staff are on hand to cover. Also, if you are concerned about the level of activities of speak to the manager or myself. We have a range of equipment to support residents to feel more engaged. If you have any suggestions please do let us know. Thanks
