My husband attends Alastair House as a day resident on a Wednesday and a Friday.
He has had an occasion to extend a Friday and also stay the night. My husband always comes home saying he has enjoyed his stay and how enjoyable the food is. Also, how friendly all the staff are, nothing is ever too much
trouble.

In the four years my Mum has been in Alistair House she has been looked after extremely well. Although she has dementia she seems happy and is always smiling. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I can visit any time of the day. Always made to feel welcome.

I have been very impressed with the staff at Alistair House in the way they are caring for my very elderly aunt. There seems to be a calm sensitive approach to dementia and a good level of general care. The house is tidy and clean with a friendly atmosphere. My aunt is taken shopping every two weeks
and there are various trips out and events from time to time. I would definately recommend Alistair House.

All staff are very friendly at all times and willing to help you with any questions you have, always make you feel like you are at home when visiting ie always asking if you would like a tea or coffee. Staff are always doing different actives with residents and always making them laugh and you always
walk out of there with a smile on your face. Meals are out of this world, I keep saying I will be booking myself in there soon with my mum as the food is just wonderful and tea/biscuits with cakes in the mornings and afternoons which are all made by the cook. It was the hardest thing we had to do in life was to put my mum into a home but we have made the right choice just by seeing the smile on her face when we go and see her or when we see the photos on their social media page and she's always smiling doing the different activities they do. If you are in a situation like we were and looking for a place for your loved ones there is only one choice in my opinion and that's Alastair House.

My mother has been at Alastair House for three and a half years now, during this time she has only ever been treated with kindness, dignity, love and respect. Over the last six or seven weeks, it has become increasingly obvious that her levels are once again dropping. As always, I have been included
in all decisions for mum's ongoing care, fully informed on the new care plan which has been drawn up for her and kept up to date on how this is progressing, along with how mum is accepting of this.

I never worry about the care that my mum receives at Alastair House, the staff are amazing and I am in complete awe of them for how they deal with the residents in their care - not just my mum.

There is a good cook and a good varied diet. The rooms are always kept clean as are the residents. There are varied activities and outings. You are welcome to visit

The welcome from management and staff is always friendly and positive no matter when we visit our dear friend of many years. Due to the distance, we visit every 6 weeks or so. It is a home of kindness, smiles and laughter and everyone is treated in a thoughtful way. The atmosphere is calm, everywhere
is spotlessly clean and recent redecoration has been done with care. Our friend could not be being cared for in a better place.

Two of us try to visit our friend every month or so and although she herself shows 'changes' each time we see her, it is obvious that her care is maintained to a very high standard and she is happy. The staff give constant attention and loving care to all the residents and to those who visit. We are
always made to feel welcome and the staff show their appreciation of our visit, knowing the distance we have to travel. Alistair House has a very 'homely' feel to it and the extension and alterations they have made over the past twelve months have enhanced this. There are always plenty of activities and not a day goes past without something to stimulate the residents whether it's having their nails painted, a visit from the hairdresser or choir practice! Birthdays are always celebrated in style with cakes and perhaps a tea dance. The home is always maintained at a comfortable temperature, is clean and there is NEVER a smell of stale food. The menu is always appetising and varied.

Alistair House is a clean, friendly, dementia home/daycare centre, my husband goes there twice a week. I am so glad I chose it, I am very happy with our choice. The staff are fantastic, I can't wait for 2018 when I can get some respite care. I feel great knowing my husband is in a safe place when I
leave him, he looks forward to our visits.

My mother has been a resident for two years now and I'm extremely satisfied with all aspects of her care and mental well being. I was very reluctant to place my mother in a care home and visited several before deciding on Alistair House. She can be very difficult at times due to her dementia and other
medical conditions and the staff respond with a caring loving attitude. I am kept up to date of any illness or worries they have about mum. They do a variety of activities daily which keeps her mind active. I would highly recommend Alistair House.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.444)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.444) out of 10 for Alastair House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.744 for Alastair House is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.744
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alastair House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 15 registered maximum number of service users is 3, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
