It was a traumatic time for my brother and I. The manager and staff couldn't have been kinder to my mother for which we are both very grateful.
My mother has settled in and now calls Hawthorn Court home which brings us to a very happy situation to be in. The manager and staff are very kind people.

Considering that my mother has only been at Hawthorn Court for just over 2 weeks she has made friends, loves the bedroom, gets on well with staff, enjoys the food.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Hawthorn Court to friends and family.

This is a lovely home, where the staff are all so very caring. My mother settled here very quickly and loves the staff. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit and always leave feeling content that Mum is happy, safe and receiving the best possible care.

I am very pleased my Dad has moved into Hawthorn Court. He has settled nicely. Staff are very caring and friendly and the manager does a great job too. Compared to Dad's first home I wish I had known about here much earlier. I was not happy about the previous home he was at.

Hawthorn Court has become the home to both my parents. Although this is not what they would choose for themselves, the staff go out of their way to look after and care for them. They always have a smile to greet them and a joke to cheer them up.

My wife has been a resident for fifteen months. She seems very happy and gets on well with the other residents and the staff. I visit her every day and have recently been invited to join her and the other residents for lunch. This works well as I am able to encourage her to eat. Perhaps more than she
would normally eat.

My mother has settled very well indeed into Hawthorn Court. She has improved physically her mobility especially. Most notable, however, is her greatly improved disposition. She is far more cheerful and positive than she has been since being admitted to hospital some six months ago. All this reflects
very well on the staff of Hawthorn Court who act professionally and in a caring way at all times. HawthornCourt is very well managed, the atmosphere is happy and all residents are well cared for.

My mother entered Hawthorn in August 2018.
Her room is excellent and the carers are attentive and extremely sympathetic.
The senior staff are friendly and nothing appears to be too much.
Up to this point, we feel we have made an excellent choice of care home and would encourage others to entrust
their loved ones to Hawthorn.

Very approachable staff - nothing too much. Very welcoming. One staff member was great with Nan - concerns over Nan on Sat, called out of hours, she was fantastic. Always asked if we want a cuppa and cake when we call to visit. No concerns with Nan being on her own whilst in work. Would consider Nan
to stay if the need arises again. Nan has enjoyed her stay.

Being the first time I have experienced a care home, I must say I have been impressed. On arriving a day prior to my mum being resident for respite only, I can honestly say the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were very attentive to my mum's needs and assured me that she would be taken
care of. I have visited mum most days whilst she has been in residence and I have seen the care and attention that my mum required during her rest. Mum was very comfortable and if I can say happy. I would not hesitate to use Hawthorn Court again if the need requires it.

I am extremely happy with my mother's care at this lovely home. She is always saying that she loves the place and people who work here. That is what we needed for her.
The staff are always helpful and happy when I visit here.
The food is excellent as far as my mum says and it's so nice to be offered
tea or coffee and cake when we visit.

Current Review Score: 7.3 (7.292)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.3 (7.292) out of 10 for Hawthorn Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.4 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.417 for Hawthorn Court is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) + (1 Poors x 2) + (23 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 3.417
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hawthorn Court is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
