We (the family) were very pleased with the care that she received throughout her stay. Covid obviously caused great problems. We were reassured that although visits were restricted, the care she received was unaffected by the virus.

My mum was a resident at Plas y Garn for about three months and was treated with the utmost respect and dignity and the staff went over and above to provide the best care that they could. The standard of care was excellent and she was treated like a family member and came to think of Plas y Garn as her home. She was so happy there which gave me great pleasure and the reassurance of knowing that she was safe and being well looked after. I will always be grateful to them and sing their praises and highly recommend them.

From an initial visit to view Plas-y-Garn whereupon I was met by wonderful caring staff, I felt the reassurance that this special place could meet the individual needs and safety measures required for my dear mum. A few weeks have passed mum is settled enjoying the company of others, and the delicious home-cooked meals. All this is provided within a warm, friendly atmosphere. I am comforted by the ongoing care received. Heartfelt thanks to all concerned.

Every time I've visited this care home, I have been very welcomed. The staff are friendly, efficient and very caring. I have had a mother-in-law staying here and she had the same care as my close friend.

Throughout the pandemic the staff have strived to keep their residents and carers safe and protected.
The protective restrictions added difficulties in visiting residents but they have always managed to accommodate whenever possible.

The carers always look to support and care for the residents with dignity and kindness.

My mother spent 14 months at the Plas-y-Garn care home before passing away at the age of 104 years. In the whole of this period, she was given excellent care, notwithstanding the difficulties the care home experienced because of the Covid pandemic. We were impressed with the effort made to provide stimulating activities for the residents and to show the activities on social media, a useful way of allowing relatives to see their loved ones participating. Communication with relatives was good, particularly with updates on the care home. and status during the pandemic.

Plas-y-Garn is clean and tidy, the staff are always polite and helpful to my mum. The rooms are always kept well and are immaculate. Due to Covid, it has been difficult to get access which is understandable, but hopefully, activities should be started so that residents have more interaction with other outsiders. Also, more varied choice of food available, please.

I have written a review before and my views have not changed. The Plas-y-Garn residential home still deserves much praise. The staff continue to strive very hard to maintain their high standards. My mother's care is wonderful. Dignity, compassion, kindness, fun, and love are very much part of her life. I keep telling you the staff at the home are your golden assets. I hope you will be determined to acknowledge this.

The staff were all very friendly and considerate. Working under difficult Covid restrictions they did their best to help me cope with the decision to put my husband of 51 years into the home. He was very happy there and he thought that he was in a hotel. His dementia was challenging but the staff were amazing with him. Sadly his condition worsened so he had to leave their care. I would recommend the home for a loved one.

I cannot comment accurately on some of the criteria below as Covid restrictions applied.

My mother moved to Plas-Y-Garn (Care Home) into their EMI residential unit in February 2021. She did not want to go into residential care but we were no longer able to cope with her support needs in our own home. Going in was a difficult experience as the Covid lockdown was in place and, due to restrictions, had to be handed over to the care staff at the entrance with her belongings. We were not able to go in and see her room or settle her in. However, the manager and staff have been extremely supportive of my mother and our family and their communication, advice and support has been exemplary. The process of settling in remains a challenge, as it inevitably was going to be in the face of my mother’s Lewy Body Dementia but the efforts of the staff have made this as bearable as these circumstances could be. Our heartfelt thanks to all concerned.

Some of the scoring is due to the limitations imposed by the lockdown.

Despite the challenging times over the past few months in regards to COVID 19 the care at Plas-y-Garn continues to be outstanding that they give to my mother and other residents. I am aware of the challenges in regards to the pressures that COVID 19 brings and the quality of care that has been maintained has been that of an extremely high standard. I received a copy of the Risk Assessment that is undertaken when family and visitors who visit. This risk assessment is detailed in the aspects of:
Hazards
Potential Harm
Control Measures in place
Any further controls that may be needed to be put in place.

This risk assessment gives my family and I great reassurance in knowing that the preventative measures that are being assessed are robust in preventing any risks in any spread of COVID 19 into the care home setting and environment. All care staff have been proactive and outstanding in their care delivery and always act in my mothers best interests. A big thank you.

What a lovely care home. The staff are amazing. Very welcoming couldn't ask for more. My mother was very happy to go into a care home for respite, for 4 weeks. The staff rang in the afternoon which was reassuring, as I had worried all day but they put my mind at rest. Thank you.

Since going into this home, my father in law has changed remarkably. He is back to being a happy, jolly old man. The staff follow his wishes. He doesn't get up early, they let him get up in his own good time.

We were hesitant to put him in a home but he is so happy there, it was the best we could do for him!

I am visiting a service user of female gender and feel she is getting the best of attention with every consideration for her comfort and well-being. She has good days and obviously, some bad days with either of these the staff are concerned about her feelings I can only commend on a very high level the way this individual is being looked after. Thank you for the opportunity for expressing these thoughts.

This home was chosen by myself and sister for our mum and as a family, we have no regrets in choosing this home. Having had no previous experience of care homes we looked at a number of care homes in the locality. During the 5 years that mum resided at Plas y Garn, she was treated with the respect and dignity she deserved. The staff were very efficient and friendly making our visits very comfortable and welcoming. Mum's needs were always considered and we felt very comfortable leaving mum in their care. We were regularly kept updated of any concerns whether that was health-related or difficulties experienced given her Dementia. Sadly, we were faced with an end of life situation earlier this year and the manager and staff went out of their way to ensure that mum remained at the home as opposed to hospital and the help and support we were given was overwhelming.

Given our experience, the manager and staff should be very proud of the care they provided.
