My mother has been a resident in Marian House for nearly three years and at no point during that time have I had any concerns over the excellent care that she receives from the very caring, friendly and well trained staff. The home is always clean and the food well prepared to meet my mothers changing
dietary needs. There are daily activities provided by the activities organisers and in addition to this a Craft cafe. Most of the rooms look onto a safe and well kept garden which residents can access and enjoy. I would have no hesitation in recommending Marian House to anyone seeking care for their loved one.

My Mum has been in Marian House Nursing Home for 2 years now and the exceptional nursing care that we experienced in 2024 is the same, if not more exceptional now. All the nursing and care staff are so friendly and their care to mum goes above and beyond their duties to attend to mums needs. Every
time we visit we find mum is always immaculately dressed.

There is always a wide range of activities and outings for the residents each week and a beautifully kept secluded garden at the back in which mum loves .

There is a calming and peaceful atmosphere inside and the home is impressively clean.

Mum is so content now, a sincere thanks to everyone at Marian House for all your love and care you give to mum.

Reply from Asa Kitching, Manager at Marian HouseThank you so much for your review. Its our pleasure looking after mum, thank you indeed for the warming review.

My mum has been in Marian house for 3.5 years and has been very well cared for while she has been there. From the moment she arrived the staff took the time to get to know her personally and to tend to her individual needs. These needs have changed over the time she had been there and the care and attention
of the staff has adapted accordingly. Her room is warm and comfortable and the fact that she was able to bring some of her own furniture and have her own pictures on the wall really helped her to settle in and feel at home.
The garden is a real bonus. Unfortunately my mum is not so able to make use of it so much now but she enjoyed being able to get outside and walk or sit in the beautiful surroundings.
I cannot praise the staff enough. Knowing that my mum is safe and so well cared for makes it so much easier for us as a family.

My brother came to Marian House late in 2025 after an unfortunate diagnosis with Dementia. I had been advised about this care home by people who had helped me along the way with my brothers plight. I can honestly say that he settled in very quickly, the staff, and the surroundings, proving to be excellent. The
care and attention to his needs are wonderful managed by a well trained staff. There is something on every day with outings on a regular basis arranged by the Activities Coordinator. The quality of food is good with a choice on the daily menu. Management and staff keep good contact with the relatives and have relatives meetings during the course of the year. Finally the care home is kept with really high standards of cleanliness and it is situated in a wonderful area with nice gardens and nice outlook . I am so happy for my brother and I can rest reassured of his wellbeing. I would have no hesitation in recommending Marion House as a wonderful
care home.

My dad moved into Marian House in July 2023, as his Altzheimers had progressed to the stage where he could no longer live independently, and required significant care. Marian House came highly recommended and I am so glad that my sister and I decided it was the right care home for him. The quality of
care he receives is simply superb. There is a genuine sense of community, and staff really know dad and understand his developing needs. The activity programme is diverse. When he was able, dad loved attending weekly Art sessions run by the charity, Impact Arts. The lovely garden is accessible and used properly by residents.

Our dad has been resident at Marian House now for over two and a half years. The care he receives is fantastic. The home always has plenty of staff and regular staff who know and understand his needs well. The staff are loving and caring towards dad and cope brilliantly when his behaviours (due to dementia)
are challenging. The standard of nutrition is very high, and personalised to his needs. My sister and I also appreciate the high level of medical attention he receives, not only from the skilled nurses who work in the home, but also from the wider GP, psychiatric and other health teams the Marian House team has referred dad to when he's needed more specialist care. The home is always clean, smells nice and is redecorated regularly. There's a good range of activities for residents and dad has really benefited from regular sessions at the home's Craft Cafe. The garden is brilliant and really well used by the residents. We feel so lucky to have found Marian House for our dad.
Reply from Asa Kitching, Manager at Marian HouseThank you for your review. I will ensure the staff are aware of the very kind words mentioned about them. They do take great pride in delivering high standards of care.

My sister has been living in Marian House since January 2022. I visit her every week and enjoy going into the home to see her and all the staff who care for her. She is no longer able to have a two way conversation with me but she likes to talk! She goes to the in-house hairdresser every two weeks,
has regular manicures (her hands are so soft and her nails are always painted!), is seen by the chiropodist every 6 weeks or so (these things were always very important to her), medical and dental issues etc. are dealt with promptly and she is encouraged and aided by the staff and the Activities Coordinators to attend all the activities that are available every week. She has been taken out on trips by mini bus to various places and dementia events.
The staff always seem to be very upbeat and happy, some are positively joyous!
Marian House is a lovely home and I am very happy with the care that she receives.

I have no hesitation in recommending Marian House to anyone with a relative who has care needs. Having been through the process of assessment and admission with both parents I can assure any reader that the process was made as simple as possible and was handled in a highly caring and compassionate manner.
I cannot fault the level of care my parents have received at Marian House. There is a genuine warmth, the staff are clearly of very high quality and I am continually impressed by how personalised the care experience is. Any queries are handled efficiently and professionally by management. Our family would highly recommend Marian House.

My mum has been in Marian house for 18 months. Her physical and mental health have improved due to the excellent care. Marian house always feels well organised, with everyone clearly understanding their role. All staff are friendly, kind, compassionate and skilled in their care of my mother. She quickly
felt safe and well cared for and is happy to refer to it as home.
There are a range of excellent activities, including the wonderful craft cafe, and a beautiful, quiet sun trap of a back garden.

My mum was in Marian House for six years, until she died early January this year.
Everything about the home is really excellent, and I cannot fault it in any way.
The care Mum received throughout the six years was first class (including being treated with utmost dignity and respect at all times).
She was always clean, dressed as well as she would have wanted and her hair almost always looked immaculate (only exceptions to this were really when the hairdresser was unable to attend unexpectedly). The staff were good at spending time with Mum and taking her off to activities. I was informed every Monday of the weekly activities programme. The app was such a helpful platform, enabling me to see almost hour by hour what care interventions there had been.
The end-of-life care extended to Mum (and indeed to us as family) was quite exceptional, for which we were hugely grateful and will never forget.
We would thoroughly recommend Marian House.

My mother lived for years on her own in a flat. After experiencing several incidents, we realised she was unable to safely care for herself and needed to move into a home. I did some extensive research and decided that Marion House was the best place for her. She has always loved gardens, and the
garden and outlook at Marian House is gorgeous.
She has now been there for 2 years and the care she receives is fantastic. I live in South Africa and have to say that before she moved, I was always worried about her. She is now in a warm, loving and caring environment.
The staff are very good at keeping me updated about her condition and are always happy to respond to any queries I have.
All in all, I think it's the best decision we ever made, and I am thrilled with the care she receives.

My husband moved from the family home into Marian House a few months ago. Due to his condition, he didn't settle well at first but the staff were so caring and patient with him. He now says that they are 'lovely people' and I am relieved and happy to report that he is settling into his new home.
The
care home is spotlessly clean and the food is excellent with a choice of meals to suit all tastes.
A warm and friendly ambiance greets you when you enter and the staff are always ready to answer any queries you may have. The garden to the rear is very attractive and the perfect spot in which to relax on a sunny day.
We are delighted with the care our loved one receives in Marian House.

The care provided is exemplary in every way. No complaints whatsoever. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are friendly and extremely attentive and caring. Most of the staff have been in the home for some time which is always a good sign. The decoration of the rooms and public areas is spotlessly
clean and there are no untoward smells anywhere. There is a regular activity programme which is published in advance each week. There is excellent medical support from a local GP practice and ophthalmic and dental support is available.

It has been 3 months since my husband moved into Marian House. The most wonderful aspect of this care home is its staff. All staff are very friendly, helpful and conscientious and compassionate. They really work very hard to make residents happy and comfortable. I cannot thank them enough for working
tirelessly to look after my husband. Furthermore, the most attractive feature of Marian House is its mature garden. On a sunny day, residents and their relatives can enjoy strolling the garden. On such a fine day, animals including Alpacas, Shetland ponies, pigmy goats, and guinea pigs came to visit residents. I was truly astonished to find them in the courtyard. Marian House also welcomes visitors by pets as well. My husband appreciates a regular visit by his pet cat. It makes all the difference to him. I would like to end my review with my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of staff.

My sister has been a resident at Marian House since early 2024 and I was very apprehensive about her settling in. I needn't have worried as the staff were so welcoming and friendly and had hung all her favourite pictures beautifully to make her room very homely.
Marian House is a lovely airy light-filled
building inside and it wraps around a well-kept sunny courtyard garden. My sister's room looks out on this space and I know it gives her a lot of pleasure as do her little forays out there.
The staff are very understanding about her need to have a little independence and don't interfere with that. I think things could have been very different in a place where a more rigid approach was taken.
There are also lots of activities my sister can take or leave as she feels inclined.
So all in all she is happy and content in a difficult health situation thanks to the care and kindness of the staff of Marian House who really couldn't try harder.
Reply from Esther Bathgate, Head Of Care at Marian HouseThank you for taking the time to give us such a great review. My mother recently moved into Marian House.
I am impressed with the high standard of care and facilities here, and would not hesitate to recommend Marian House. (Honestly, I could live here !)
My mum has a lovely room overlooking the gardens. Her room is calm, clean, light and bright. The services
and facilities are fantastic - great food, coffee and cake, great laundry service. There are also activities for those who would like to participate.
The care team are kind, caring, patient, attentive, respectful and supportive - not only of Mum but the whole family. The staff involve us in decisions and keep us informed.
Mum's individual needs are understood and catered for.
On moving in we were met with warmth, understanding and clear and helpful information.
As I live abroad I am lucky that my Mum is living and cared for in such a lovely place, and that I have access to the care plans. when I ring there is always time to keep me updated. I feel as though nothing is too much trouble.

Mum has now been at Marian House for a few years and we count ourselves very lucky indeed that we found this care home. The place is an oasis of calm, always clean and the staff cannot do enough for their residents. Even though Mum isn't able to participate in many activities now due to her advancing
dementia she isn't ignored and people spend time with her. The laundry is always immaculate and the food is good. I feel like the staff looks after the whole family, not just the residents, and I can't think of a better place for my mum to be looked after.

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
