My mother is very happy at Marian House and our family recognizes that she is receiving excellent care, which provides us with peace of mind and comfort.
Overall, I’d commend the home on its organization, cleanliness, nutrition and, most importantly the personal care my mother receives. She enjoys
the food choices in the dining room, she is engaged in lots of activities to fight boredom and she feels comfortable and safe in her room. As a relative, I like that the nurses are easy to reach and the manager is quick to respond to queries. In addition she provides regular, helpful information and updates in her emails. I only go to the home twice a year while visiting from overseas, but I am always made very welcome and all the staff are willing to help and answer any questions I have.

My mother stayed in Marian House for a few weeks in 2023 to recuperate following a spell in hospital. From the moment that she stepped into Marian House, she was made to feel welcome by each of the staff that she met throughout her stay there. With their dedicated care and support her health improved
and strengthened quickly until she was well enough to return home.
Moving Mum into Marian House was made very easy. I was able to bring in items from home to make her lovely room more individual to her, and they liaised with the hospital about the arrangements for transferring Mum on the agreed date. Also, the staff always made me feel very welcome and I was able to visit Mum often. I feel that each resident is respected as an individual within the Marian House community and is encouraged to engage in the things that interest them.
Reply from Lynne Feeney, Business Support Administrator at Marian HouseThank you for your lovely review. I am so glad to hear that your mother recovered well and was able to return to her own home. We strive to ensure all our residents are treated as individuals so it is heartening to hear you say that is your experience. Many thanks.

Marian House is a very special place and I am so glad that my mother is being cared for there. I could wax lyrical about the astute leadership, the dedicated nursing care, the healthy food, the bright, clean and cheerful environment, and the engaging programme of activities, but I think, above all,
it is the people who work there who make it so special. Staff go the extra mile to make residents feel at home, and are consistently patient, kind and welcoming. Residents are always treated with respect and everyone's point of view matters. The regular residents' meetings, for example, are properly minuted and displayed. This makes my mother feel valued and encourages her to participate in the life of the home. The wider family are also included in my Mother's care. As my sisters live abroad, they appreciate the daily reports recorded in a secure online portal. My mother's visitors are always warmly welcomed and the afternoon cup of tea is generously shared with strangers. A special place indeed.
Reply from Lynne Feeney, Business Support Administrator at Marian HouseThank you so much for such a glowing review. We strive to provide an excellent service and it is really good to hear that your mother is benefiting from that at Marian House. Our staff are exceptional and they will be delighted to hear how much your mother is enjoying living here. Thank you so much - and we'll keep the afternoon cups of tea coming!

Marian House has been very welcoming to my mother (nearly 97). The activities coordinator has been very kind - the pet therapy dog has been very good for her. The home is warm and comfortable. The cups of tea and coffee and homemade cakes are very appreciated. The management is kind and good at communication.
The nurses are excellent.

When it became necessary for Mum to move into a care home we asked around. Marian House was mentioned favourably several times. These recommendations were entirely justified. Her room is most attractive with a view out to a lovely garden. Mum settled very quickly, very much appreciating being able to
bring items from home. As well as a TV she also has a landline phone beside her chair so feels in touch with the outside world. Staff are friendly and caring and visitors are made to feel very welcome. As a family we appreciate how quickly we are informed of any concerns and how promptly a doctor would arrive if necessary.
Reply from Lynne Feeney, Business Support Administrator at Marian HouseThank you for your lovely review. It sounds as if your mum has settled in very well and that's what we like to hear. This is her home now. We do strive to provide an excellent service for our residents and it's so nice to get such lovely positive feedback from the family. We hope your mum continues to enjoy her stay in Marian House. Thank you.

We chose Marian House for Mum because many family members live in the neighbourhood.
It was obvious from the first visit that the home is warm, clean and friendly.
The carers are very good, some exceptional, and management is on the ball.
They recognise the need to provide activities for resident's
emotional needs as well as physical and are working to improve this aspect.

My mum had to move into a care home in September 2022 at very short notice. I cannot praise everyone at Marion House highly enough, they made the move so easy and welcoming for my mother and the family. Over the past year, the staff have been so thoughtful, caring and kind. The high level and consistency
of her care has been so reassuring for us. My mum's quality of life has improved enormously both socially and physically. She really enjoys the wide range of activities and the quality of the meals. It has been so good to see her thriving after a long period of struggling to cope at home.

My husband moved into Marian House last July, with 2 rare dementias and double incontinence. After an unsatisfactory respite experience elsewhere, last May, I was rather anxious about his move into full-time care. I need not have worried!
When I first visited Marian House, I was struck by the calmness
and cleanliness. The pre-admission Care meeting evidenced a real understanding of my husband's situation and needs. I felt this was the right place for him and it is! His needs are quite complex and he is one of very few men. There have been some challenges but I have been consulted and care plans have been revised accordingly. The management team are approachable and motivated to provide the highest standard of care.
The Care team are absolutely wonderful - always kind, caring, supportive and compassionate, even in difficult circumstances. It is interesting to observe my husband's different responses and relationships with individual staff - all are positive and bring him happiness!

Our mum has been in Marian House for nearly 5 years. During the whole of that time the quality of care she has received has been of a consistently very high standard. The staff are very professional, very friendly and easily approachable. On top of this they always look like they enjoy their work, even
when very busy. This was true even during the pandemic with the immense stresses and difficulties posed by restrictions and fears about cross infection. One of the things that I immediately noticed when I started being a regular visitor was that every member of staff looked up and said hello and smiled when I walked by. This was very important to me and still is. I found it very welcoming and reassuring. Mum has had many challenging periods with hospital admissions, deteriorating health, and increasing frailty. The way that Marian House has responded to mum's changing circumstances and needs have given me an enormous amount of confidence about how well she is being looked after.
Reply from Lynne Feeney, Business Support Administrator at Marian HouseThank you for such a wonderful review. My mum has been a resident in Marian House since 2018. From the outset, she was warmly welcomed and settled in immediately. All of the staff are extremely professional, caring and respectful. Her care needs have increased during her stay and they have been dealt with without prompting and appropriately.
The recent management change was carried out professionally and seamlessly. The manager has settled into her role wonderfully and has maintained the home’s extremely high standards. Our family are totally satisfied with the care provided and would have no hesitation in recommending Marian House to anyone seeking care for their loved ones.

My elderly cousin was a very successful scientist during her working life, she never married and became lonely. She developed vascular dementia and has now been a resident at Marian House for almost 4 years. The staff have been superb in supporting her through the difficult change in her circumstances
when she moved there, all through the slippery slope of her increasing dementia. At first, she found it difficult to accept the restrictions on her lifestyle and her behaviour at times was unacceptable. The staff coped with this impeccably. Since those early days, she has become a totally different person - she feels loved, cared for, accepted and no longer on her own. I cannot thank the staff at Marian House enough for what they have given her, and continue to do so on a daily basis. Marian House has become the home that she never had, the staff are her friends and the residents her brothers and sisters, she is now the happiest she has ever been. Thank you Marian House.

My mum moved into Marian House a couple of years ago and throughout that time I have found the standard of care to be exceptional. Unfortunately, I have taken very ill over the last year: I have been greatly comforted by knowing that my Mum is being cared for in such a wonderful way. Marian House feels
like a “family”, the staff are so very kind and attentive and they go out of their way to make Mum and the other residents feel loved, cared for and safe. Marian House respects its residents giving them opportunities to experience daily activities - the craft cafe and events in the beautiful garden are two examples.
At the end of the day, the quality of my Mum’s life at Marian House is all down to the staff who I have utter respect for. They care deeply about the residents and forge strong relationships with them and their relatives. They work long hours and I often wish I could wave a magic wand to bring in more staff allowing current staff time to recharge their batteries in between shifts. Thank you Marian House.

My mother's quality of life improved considerably on admission to Marian House in March 2021. In my view, the staff are kind, considerate and patient with her and she has always responded well to them in my company. I am impressed by the high standard of care both daily and when unwell. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
