The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for Glenalina Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Glenalina Lodge in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.749 for Glenalina Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.749
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 4.638 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glenalina Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4
Target of 9.4 positive Reviews (47 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 9.4 Target = 0.638
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My uncle was admitted for respite care and possible long-term residency in Glenalina Lodge.
The staff and care manager were absolutely brilliant.
They provided the very highest level and standard of care for my uncle. Further they were very supportive of the whole family at a very difficult time.

The staff were very friendly and caring. Being away from home after a spell in hospital, the environment helped me to heal and make a full recovery. My wife was made to feel welcome at each visit and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend Glenalina Lodge care centre as a family home from home.

My aunt moved into Glenalina Lodge about one year ago after living independently for most of her life.
At first, she found it difficult to settle but due to the care, patience, understanding and support of staff, she has now fitted in well to her new surroundings.
She has a nice room with a view of the garden.
I consider that Glenalina Lodge gives a good level of care and support to its residents.

Glenalina Lodge provides an exceptionally high standard of care to all their residents. The compassion, patience, respect and inclusiveness I have witnessed has left me with no doubt that this is the best place for my brother to live I have no hesitation in recommending this home. It truly is the gold standard in person-centered care provision.

My visit to the home is usually pleasant.
Recently I've been aware of a great general improvement across the board.
More armchair activities could be a positive possibility.
On one occasion (some time ago) I had a complaint - it certainly was not fully investigated.

Upon arrival, although the staff were very busy with residents, they took the time to explain everything to me and answer my questions. We were made to feel very welcome. Very bright care home and staff are all caring. Would recommend to others.

My brother had been transferred from the hospital to Glenalina Lodge. I already felt it was the wrong decision that the hospital made as my brother had mental health issues. The transfer went ahead and after a short while, the care manager of Glenalina Lodge said that he felt my brother needed re-assessed. The manager made all the calls to contacts for this to be done and whilst my brother's stay in Glenalina Lodge was brilliant, I can honestly say the 'duty of care' and understanding my brother received by management and staff was outstanding and I would like this to be recognised.

I come to see my aunt 2-3 times a year from England and I have to say every time I come I found the staff very helpful and pleasant. But this time I came it seemed "exceptional". My auntie looked really well, the place was spotless, the staff very welcoming.

The care in the home is excellent. The staff are helpful and pleasant and the building itself is kept spotlessly clean and bright and cherry.

I have only good comments to write here. My aunt can be quite difficult at times. She is 95 and all of the staff without exception, have been so good and caring with her.
The accommodation is modern and bright. The bedrooms have everything she needs, and the food is excellent.
I would recommend Glenalina to anyone wishing for excellent care for their relative.

My sister has been in many care homes but this is most definitely the tops. She is very comfortable, happy, well fed and stimulated which is of great important. Activities are displayed daily on a blackboard so that residents are free to join those of interest to them or do their own thing. My sister has a plot in the garden for growing her own bulbs and flowers. She particularly enjoys arts and crafts and has made many beautiful items which are displayed.

Glenalina is a very special place with the most amazing staff, from the cleaners, kitchen staff, chef, carers to the manageress. They are all amazing. The home is spotlessly clean, well equipped and as for the food it's proper tasty home cooked food with a good amount of variety. I can not speak highly enough of Glenalina, it's a very unique home with unique staff. Thank you.

My father sadly passed away on 16th Feb 2016 whilst in the care of the (angels) staff of Glenalina Lodge. His care was excellent and each member of the staff from manager to the ancillary staff went above and beyond the call of duty. This care was afforded to us as a family also. My father was allowed to have a peaceful and dignified passing by the angels in this care home. Although only in their care for a few months my father was treated as a member of their family. For this i am eternally grateful.
