My mum was transferred to Lakeside after being in hospital for a long period and the difference in her since she moved is great. She is up, washed and dressed every day, she is eating so much more, the food is fresh and lots of choice so my mum is eating more. The management have been great and have kept us informed of everything the whole time and have been very reassuring, the staff are lovely and take good care of her, my mum is happy to be there taking into account she is not ready for home yet which she understands. As a family , we are relaxed knowing she is being well taken off, we can go in anytime , day or night.

Thank you so much for your kind review. I am very glad that your Mum is feeling better, is regaining her appetite and that the family feel re-assured that Mum is being well looked after. Its very important for us to receive feedback from family, loved ones, and residents, as it allows us to see what we are doing well, and what areas where we need to improve.

Thank you all of you and especially Andy (manager) with whom I can't express enough gratitude for looking after my Father. Andy has gone above and beyond in order to help and care for me, my daughter and especially my father in repatriating him to Jersey from the mainland.
Andy you have no idea how much help you have been to the three of us and your staff have helped with kindness and thoroughness.

A very big and special thank you

My father has been at Lakeside Care Home for 6 months, and he is very happy there. Before he moved, he was isolated in his home; now he has many social interactions every day. The care team are all friendly and efficient, and Andy the manager is very involved with all aspects of Lakeside's day-to-day running. I have found everyone to be responsive and very welcoming.

Thank you Carla for your review. I am so glad that your father is happy here, and enjoying the social interactions which Lakeside is now highly regarded for.
Detailed reviews really help us to focus on maintaining standards where we are doing well, and to look at how we can improve in areas where we are not.
Kindest regards,

From all the team at Lakeside

Generally all is good however maintenance issues are not very quickly dealt with. My Aunt has ants in her room and despite this being reported twice in the last week, no-one has done anything about it.
My Aunt has her own landline in her room and often when carers/cleaners move the bed, the telephone jack point is damaged resulting in a call-out, and her loss of telephone usage.
Carers and staff are very nice, and from my own experience of the food, it is good and well presented.

There is still often a "smell" in the corridor leading to her room.

My dad was only in Lakeside for a couple of weeks respite so we had a fairly limited experience. Andy and the team welcomed him and made his transfer in to the home from hospital easy. The staff were great with him and really tried to help him in very difficult circumstances.

Mum has now moved into a room with a sunshade. She can now see out of the windows without feeling hot because of the sun beaming in. Mum now speaks more, commenting on the trees, birds, lake, weather and so on. It has made a huge difference to see the outside world. So thank you to the manager. Barchester, please spend money on sun shades, it'd make a difference to residents well being. Also, please provide summer uniforms to carers, hot and bothered staff results in lack of patience.

My parents seem very happy here since January 2025 although there has been numerous small issues, mostly resolved now.
Sometimes things fall a bit flat when there are staff shortages (which is often) and for instance the bus on a Wednesday cannot go because there is no carer available to accompany the driver. This needs greater monitoring as my parents look forward to this.

2-3 members of the team stand out & are extremely attentive & understanding, another member is totally not suitable for the job & quite rude at times!

Mam is very well looked after and all the staff are loving and considerate towards Mum. Mum has dementia and the staff are able to interact with her and to get responses from her in ways that I cannot. I know that Mum is in a safe, caring and friendly environment which is of great comfort to me and my family. Mum is unable to join in most activities but when she is able to I am sure she appreciates them.

My mum is being very well cared for at Barchester Lakeside Care Home.
The staff are all very kind and patient with Mum. She has a lovely room with a view over the lake and she is happy, content and well looked after.
They always communicate with us and let us know if there is anything we need to be informed about.
The manager is fantastic. He took so much time to help, advise and reassure us with Mum's move. It is very obvious that he cares very much about the residents and their well-being.
Mum enjoys the meals in the lovely dining room and there is always some kind of activity for her to join in with if she wants company.
We really appreciate that we can visit Mum at any time and that we are able to take our little dog, Betty, in to see her too.

Mum is so much better since she has been at Lakeside and we have no worries about her care or well-being.

We simply cannot fault or thank the manager and his team at Barchester Lakeside Care Home. My husband has Star 4 Dementia and can be somewhat complicated to help care for, however the team at Lakeside went over and above - in particular the manager to ensure that my husband's care was the top priority - as well as ensuring that he still did things that he enjoyed.
The manager would regularly take my husband to golf, which he really enjoyed and also allowed my husband to join him in the office, which would remind my husband of past times.
The staff interact with my husband at his level, which is always appreciated and that gives me great comfort that I know he is being treated so well.
When there were incidents, the staff were always very attentive and informative, and were quick to inform the family of the situation and the outcomes.

Whilst my husbands stay there was only short due to his needs, we are so incredibly grateful for the support that the manager and the wider team gave to not only my husband, but the wider family.
