Welcome to Rutherglen Care Home which has five individual Houses, each offering a warm and homely environment for residents. Care is offered to those with dementia, as well as residents requiring help with with nursing and respite needs.

This purpose-built care facility is situated in the Glasgow suburb of Rutherglen, next to Overtoun Park and a short walk away from the town centre. The home offers a high standard of accommodation and facilities to support a positive social atmosphere, with bright sunny rooms, extensive landscaped gardens and bedrooms that can be personalised to individual taste.

Nurses are on duty in each House 24 hours a day, and are supported by an extensively trained Care Team who ensure that residents' personal care needs are met.

In terms of overall wellbeing, there is an extensive Activities Programme with Reminiscence Classes, Craft and Gardening Clubs and a variety of other activities tailored to residents individual interests and abilities. Strong community links are a priority, with local nursery schools and community groups visiting on a regular basis.

The Chef and his team use only fresh ingredients to make sure that each meal is packed with nutrients and is high in calorific value. Additional staff includes a large Housekeeping and Laundry team and a long established Maintenance and Gardening Department.

My mother had been in the dementia section of Rutherglen Care Home - 10 Woodside Unit for years. Staff fine, but my mother's two gold rings went missing off her fingers a year before she died - one gold sovereign ring - one gold snake ring. Also, an antique lamp in her room disappeared which is sad.
Please take your family's valuables off them before considering a placement here other than that your family will be safe and looked after. Anyone thinking of putting family members here it's a good place - most staff are nice some people aren't when you ask them to do something for you - it's like they can't be bothered - exceptional Nigerian staff do anything for you thank you guys. You get that in most workplaces anyway.

Sorry to hear about your mother's rings going missing and as a matter of course we always now recommend to families upon admission to keep precious jewellery locked up somewhere safe and rather just use costume jewellery instead. Whilst caring for residents living with dementia we always try our best to keep their belongings safe and secure but there may be occasions where residents themselves remove their jewellery and tuck it away somewhere or offer items to friends, who may also be residents to wear and they get lost that way. Please do get in touch with us via our main reception with a description or pictures of the items and we will conduct a further search of Woodside House in the hope of retrieving them. Thank you for your comments about the staff and we now have more permanent colleagues rather than using agency which has resulted in positive improvements. Best wishes to you and the family.

My mother had been in the dementia section of Rutherglen Care Home for more than 3 years before her death aged 101.
From the start, she was very content there and was very well looked after by the staff. I was very happy with the communication and helpful response from the team as we now live 200+
miles away and visits were at intervals over the years and particularly hard during Covid.
We were able however to telephone regularly and speak to the staff on duty who were always happy to chat and give messages to her. This was a great comfort to us and they could not have been more caring and informative on these calls lately and also their calls to me when anything regarding her help and well being needed to be discussed.
We really liked the trouble they went to on her 100th celebration when we were able to have a small group of relatives and friends spend time with her in the private room provided with decorations plus plates and glasses available for a small party for her.

My dad has been a resident for 3-years. The last few months have been difficult as he contracted the virus and was in the hospital for many weeks. Now he is home, the care staff within the Waverley Unit have been excellent in ensuring that he eats his meals as he lost nearly 3-stone. I can’t thank them

The staff in Woodside unit go beyond to make sure their residents are happy, safe and well. They keep them upbeat and always have their interests at heart. They are always dancing/singing/playing games making the residents time enjoyable especially as we are not able to visit presently, seeing the Facebook
posts of all the residents having fun is lovely.

The home is very welcoming for family and other visitors, I feel very comfortable coming to visit my mum and sitting in the lounge. The staff manage my mum's behaviour and moods with care and respect. My mum feels settled here. I like that there are activities that my family can be involved in and we

I was apprehensive about putting my husband into a care home for respite, but my fears soon disappeared when having a home visit from the staff. We were treated with dignity and respect and it was the same at the care home.
Hubby has been twice now and gets on well with the staff and enjoys the activities.
He has actually put on weight so he must enjoy the food.

My father in law was in Dryburgh House from March 2019 to May 2019. During that time he was very happy with his stay and everyone made him welcome and encouraged him to join in the activities. He felt it was an extension of his family and we feel he thrived and he regained his usual positive attitude.

My mother had one-week respite care in the Melrose Unit at Rutherglen Care Home, this was our first experience of a care home and it was very reassuring for the family. My wife has improved immensely since coming into Beechwood from hospital. She is not aggressive now and is eating better and putting on weight. She is content and happy due to the care and hands-on approach by the staff.

Woodside unit looks after my husband. One year ago I was given the news that my husband needed full-time nursing care. I was devastated. One year on and I just want to say a big thank you to all the staff in this unit everyone of them outstanding. We had our Christmas party yesterday it was great. The
activity staff the families. who attended made it all worth while This nursing home provides everything I could wish for for my husband. All year round sing songs, concerts and summer outings. The home manager also supported me when a small issue arose sorted out the same day. Thank you so much I now have quality time with my husband.

Mum is really well looked after and cared for by all members of staff, every single member of staff treat her with dignity. Our family can tell my mum is happy in the home. I have always found staff to be very helpful to my aunt. The home itself is clean and tidy and fresh.
Activities for residents are provided infrequently but my aunt enjoys the concerts when one is organised.
