Welcome to Rutherglen Care Home which has five individual Houses, each offering a warm and homely environment for residents. Care is offered to those with dementia, as well as residents requiring help with with nursing and respite needs.
This purpose-built care facility is situated in the Glasgow suburb of Rutherglen, next to Overtoun Park and a short walk away from the town centre. The home offers a high standard of accommodation and facilities to support a positive social atmosphere, with bright sunny rooms, extensive landscaped gardens and bedrooms that can be personalised to individual taste.
Nurses are on duty in each House 24 hours a day, and are supported by an extensively trained Care Team who ensure that residents' personal care needs are met.
In terms of overall wellbeing, there is an extensive Activities Programme with Reminiscence Classes, Craft and Gardening Clubs and a variety of other activities tailored to residents individual interests and abilities. Strong community links are a priority, with local nursery schools and community groups visiting on a regular basis.
The Chef and his team use only fresh ingredients to make sure that each meal is packed with nutrients and is high in calorific value. Additional staff includes a large Housekeeping and Laundry team and a long established Maintenance and Gardening Department.

Prior to admission she weighed less than 6 stones and was a dress size 6. Since her admission, her appetite has improved and thanks to encouragement from staff and seeing others eating she has happily joined in and is now a very healthy weight and appears healthier.

I note your concerns regarding technology and am delighted to tell you that this an area which Advinia, our new owners, are also extremely interested in pursuing. We are lucky in that we already have a pretty good Wi-Fi system installed and we are now looking at what hardware would best suit to take advantage of new ideas.
All staff, from unit manager to nurses to the housekeeping staff, have been wonderful since our aunt came to stay. They are so attentive and kind to her. When visiting I see them work hard to make everyone happy.

No matter how many meetings I have with staff, or how many times they are told by managers they are doing great, it is never as well received as it is when families and residents take the time and effort to praise them. My mother has now been in care for 8 months. We have only had one review when she entered at the beginning. It was excellent. I now feel that the standards are not the same. There are too many staff changes causing confusion for the residents and families. Members of my family have found medication on the floors which I feel is unacceptable. We also have to ask staff to take my mother to the toilet.
We strive very hard to provide high quality care and where we appear to fall short, we all take it very personally and will try our best to ensure we regain your confidence. I will personally investigate your concerns and contact you separately.

As a resident who has dementia and dysphasia, I was finding it hard to cope on my own at home, even with family support. Since coming to Rodger Park (Rutherglen) I've had problems fitting in but all the staff have been very helpful and supportive which has helped me to settle down. This is my home now and I have accepted that but it has taken months to achieve but I believe I have reached that goal now.
Many thanks for letting people know how your experience in a Care Home has been. There are so many examples in the media demonstrating bad support and care. For us at Rutherglen, it is a journey, not filled with dread, rather a place to live with compassion and laughter.
