Even though my mother's stay at Alexander has proved to be short, I am extremely pleased with the quality of care and service that my mother has received and also the level of communication, service, kindness, time and support provided by the manager personally and her team to me and family.
I am glad
that my mother's final days were spent at Alexander Care Centre.

From day one I have been very impressed with the care my cousin has been given. Just recently Alexander Care Home has undergone a refurbishment which is very high standard and very stylish. I think that the food needs some improvement. What I have seen has been rather bland and not enough thought into
what has been put together (e.g corned been cold with mash and baked beans and similar other mixtures).
Reply from HC-One, Careline Team at Alexander Care HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review. We really value the feedback provided by those who use our services.
You have highlighted concerns about the food on offer at the home, and apologise if we have fallen short of the high standards we aspire to.
Each home has its own dedicated catering team, who prepare all meals using fresh, raw, ingredients.
Making sure Residents have a choice of their favourite foods is really important to us. We record individual preferences to make sure our fresh food menus are created around what they want most. We are delighted to welcome families and loved-ones to share in mealtimes, and the Sunday roast is a special time at many of our homes.

The Home Manager operates an open door policy, please feel free to call in and discuss any concerns you may have.
Thanking you again for taking the time to provide really helpful feedback about the home. We value all feedback and ensure it is recorded and acted upon.

As long as I have been visiting this care home it has been nothing but up to very good standards. This home has been through some changes and each change has been excellent in refurbishment and to the staff. Of what I see the service is to high standards. If I could change one thing it would be to see
more staff at weekends, as sometimes if I wanted to discuss anything the staff are very sparse and busy therefore don't want to disturb. Me and my sister work, so difficult to visit during weekdays, to again get to see the full benefit of what is provided.

I have found without exception all staff members to be very dedicated, patient, understanding and tolerant. They are without doubt great ambassadors for the company. In my fathers case they understand his illness and his needs and spare the time to sit with him and encourage him to mix with other residents,
and they have built a very good strong rapport with him. I have found the activities and social events at his home to be very beneficial for my father and relatives are encouraged to join.

My father came to Alexander House in London. Alexander house is located in a quiet road in Brockley and is near my brothers home. I came from Australia where I live to help settle him into his new place/home. In the 4 weeks I was there I visited daily and for several hours each time. I am very impressed
with the care and respect my father is receiving. There appears to be constant high quality of support and care given by the staff who are considerate and sympathetic to the rest of the family. They are always cheerful and willing to do anything. Nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is always welcoming, whatever time of day or night. Absolutely outstanding commitment. A great team. It would be hard to find better care.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.244)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.244) out of 10 for Alexander Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.269 for Alexander Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (121 Excellents x 5) + (89 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 245 Ratings = 4.269
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexander Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 registered maximum number of service users is 15.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
