I just wanted to add a new review of Ashmead Care Centre. My mother was at the home for 20 months before her passing last year. During those 20 months and the pandemic, I saw how hard the staff work for all the residents, from the kitchen, cleaners, carers, nurses and management. All work for the safety and well-being of all the residents. I wanted to give something back to them for the wonderful care of my mother. So I became a volunteer, just a few hours once a week just speaking to the residents, singing, dancing and having fun. During my time at the home, I only see great care and understanding towards all the residents. It is a wonderful home and I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Ashmead.

My mother-in-law has been looked after by the staff on Lavender and all the staff at Ashmead since 2020. She moved to Ashmead in March of that year the day before her 90th birthday. Although Covid was a terrible time and we couldn't see her as we would have wished to we knew she was getting the best of care and we were kept informed of her well-being at all times. Knowing my mother-in-law is safe and well cared for has given the whole family much comfort and she continues to enjoy the care and attention she receives. My husband and I have nothing but admiration for the staff and our heartfelt thanks go to all of them. We are grateful that Mother-in-law lives there. Thank you.

My late mother was blessed to have been admitted to this outstanding care home in April 2019. The home is clean and professionally run and the staff are simply very special people. They took such great care of my mother, right up until the time she passed away in May 2022. Because I was informed that her end was approaching, I was able to reach her in time as she drew her last breath. She died peacefully and pain-free in a lovely room, with me holding her hand and kissing her forehead as she slipped away. At all times during Mum's residency, I was kept informed if she was unwell and needed to be admitted to hospital. I was involved in every stage of the process. The staff respected my wish that she wouldn't be readmitted after her final stay in hospital, as I wanted a peaceful death for her. A special thank you goes to the Buttercup Wing team. It was only by chance, that Mum was admitted to Ashmead Care Centre and I consider this home simply the best. I would highly recommend Ashmead to anyone.

Everyone at this home treated my father with compassion. They were all extremely professional and caring. My father's last days were stress-free, pain-free, and dignified. The home itself has a family atmosphere and we were always made to feel welcome.

My dad was in Ashmead only for a few weeks before he died. As I live in Hampshire and my mum in Chiswick it was hard for us to visit frequently. The staff always kept me informed as to any changes in my dad's conditions and recommended when we needed to see him at the end. My dad was very comfortable and settled at Ashmead and seemed more than happy there. I couldn't have asked for better care. Thank you.

My father was transferred to Ashmead from hospital in October 2020. My daughter and I visited Ashmead for the first time on 1st January 2021 as my father was on 'end of life' care. As soon as you walked into Ashmead you were instantly met with a sense of caring. It was extremely welcoming. The staff and residents all looked happy. Ashmead is well run and clean with lovely furniture, exactly what you want for a loved member of your family. The staff at Ashmead have been truly amazing. They have been unbelievably caring. There have been two members of staff at Ashmead who I believe are angels on earth. They are the nursing staff on the Primrose Ward where my Dad stayed. They have been absolutely wonderful, kind and considerate. I cannot use enough words to describe how I will always remember their kindness to my Dad when he really needed it the most and was at his most vulnerable. He was a very strong, independent man who would have found it very hard to be so helpless but I know that both of them were wonderful with him and I will be eternally grateful to them.

Overall Experience

The care and compassion provided by the staff during my aunt's stay for over 6 months at Ashmead Care Centre was truly outstanding.

Considering this was during a global pandemic, the staff worked to high standards and showed due care and conscientiousness in discharging their duties. Staff were also receptive, helpful, kept me updated on her care, and acted on her needs with kindness and true compassion.

As a retired midwife, she appreciated the tidiness at Ashmead Care Centre and how considerate the staff were. In her own words, Ashmead was like a "palace" where her needs were met with due care and understanding. My aunt and I would like to express our profound gratitude to the manager and all the staff especially at the Rose Unit for their kindness, outstanding care and professionalism during her stay.

My father came to Ashmead straight from hospital after having a fall and with Alzheimer's. It was in the middle of coronavirus in March. The staff I spoke to have been very helpful and kind and let me FaceTime him. I feel he is in the right place in safe hands. One member of staff, in particular, is an angel! My mother visited him for the first time in 3 months which is fantastic. (My ratings are based on the fact I haven't seen all the facilities.)

The care my mother has been given at Ashmead Care Home has been outstanding. As a family, we cannot thank the staff enough. Mum has always feared going into a home, she has been quite happy here. The staff are so kind and understanding. It has been a very worrying and difficult time, as it has been for many others, but our calls every day have been treated with kindness and understanding. It has been possible for us on a few occasions to video call mum, or she has been brought to the office for our call. Nothing has been too much trouble. I would if possible name staff, I am only sorry we never got to actually meet them, as we were obviously unable to visit. Mum has told us the home is very clean and the food is lovely, in her words "good wholesome food" She says the staff are very kind. Many many thanks.

During my visit to a friend today and a few weeks ago I saw residents being cared for in a very respectful manner. The staff maintained the resident's dignity at all times and cared for them in a friendly, kindly manner. Thank you to all the care staff for all they do to care for and support each other and the residents on Lavender Unit.

I attended a memorial service in memory of my mother aged 96, who sadly passed away in April 2019. She was a resident for 18 months and was so well cared for. The staff were absolutely wonderful and it was lovely to meet up with them all again and thank them for all their caring work. The service was so well organised and both myself and my family will continue to support Ashmead over the coming years. God bless to them all.
