The carers are excellent. The laundry cleaning staff and home handyman are all excellent. Workers from elsewhere are excellent. Nurses - one or two are not up to standard but the rest are excellent. Assistant Manager, Manager, Reception, and Finance are all excellent as was the medical care. The activities are very good. The home is very good.

Since I live abroad, until mid-June I only had email and Skype contacts with my uncle and I always felt he was in good hands. But by starting visiting him regularly I found that care and assistance is much better than I thought. The home looks like a hotel, nice rooms, and communal areas. Staff extremely caring and kind - such a high standard that in Italy we couldn't even dream of. I much appreciate that I can call in without any pre-advice and spend valuable time - for me - with my uncle.

My wife and I were very apprehensive about moving dad into a care home, but we needn't have worried. From the initial point of contact with the homes management doing their initial assessment to the welcome the care staff and nurses gave dad everyone has been kind, patient and caring. Dad has settled in so well, always looks smart and has put on weight - Chef came to see dad on his 2nd day, asking his likes and dislikes. I have seen meals varied (in taste, and texture) for my dad and others and there is home made cake every day. The maintenance chap was so helpful, putting up pictures and shelves to make dad feel at home. We're so happy we chose Ellesmere House!

My mother was so well looked after by the whole staff team at Ellesmere House. From the initial communication by the management to the warm welcome we received from the receptionist every one was so friendly and helpful. The care staff are always engaging with Mum by either reading the daily paper or playing some of her favourite music. Chef came to visit Mum on her first day and was very keen to know what Mum liked and disliked. The activity staff encouraged Mum to join in with a cookery session, which she really enjoyed. The cleaners never stopped cleaning, taking extra care with door handles and handrails. Overall, I was very impressed.

Ellesmere has been absolutely fantastic over the last year, caring for my mother during the pandemic. They have kept in regular contact, letting me know how Mum is getting on when I haven’t been able to see her. I know she is safe and cared for greatly by the staff. The manager is always available and approachable, and I feel very secure knowing my mum is in great hands.

Despite the restrictions Covid has brought, my wife has always been very well cared for by lovely carers, cleaners, cooks and activity staff. The staff support FaceTime conversations every week and my wife looks happy and healthy. There has been a change of management, but the home still seems to run smoothly. I would happily recommend Ellesmere House.

This lovely, bright care team cares for both my grandmother and my father, both of whom are suffering with variations of dementia and Parkinson's disease. The staff are unbelievably kind, caring and encouraging. They are always upbeat and patient and the dignified care that they provide is so appreciated by my relatives, residents and by myself and my sister. They take time to get to know an individual's preferences and give good updates each time we visit as well as regular phone calls when they have concerns or want to update on a doctors visit.

The rooms are very bright, always clean and both the rooms and common parts are pleasant smelling. The food is good and plentiful with fruit, cakes and biscuits always available outside of meal times. I am most impressed by the times I have seen staff just one on one with a resident, taking time to sit and talk or just wait a while with them so that they aren't lonely. I'm so grateful for the care they provide.

My husband passed away in July 2018. He was Ellesmere for about a year. He had the beginning of dementia and could not walk or move without help.

All I can say is that this nursing home was wonderful and the staff were so kind and compassionate. He always looked good, clean, tidy and smiling. I visited every single day. Thank you all.

Since my arrival in 2015, I have found that the overall care is adequate but due to a shortage of staff (not all!) We do not have an activity sheet anymore and the same food is uninviting and no proper taste fruit juices are supplied. I realise the location of the home is an expensive area, but the monthly bill is confusingly high to meet the above needs this needs to be readdressed.

Ellesmere House is warm and welcoming and my mother has been cared for in a caring and sensitive way. It is such a relief to know that she is being cared for at all times.

The home tries hard to involve the residents in many activities and there are opportunities for everyone to be involved.

I had a great short stay in Ellesmere House after an operation. I had an excellent experience at the home - I am in my 50's and was a low maintenance patient.

I found the staff very good and caring, I felt safe to be in that environment after my operation. A good service for people recovering from an operation, as well as caring for long-term patients.

My dad is extremely disabled (half paralysed, double incontinent and high risk of choking). In 2015 he ended up having three unnecessary surgeries because a previous care home neglected my dad. I had to change his home and thanks to God, we have received the appropriate care and support in Ellesmere House. The manager is always happy to help and treats us so fairly and shares a high amount of professionalism. The chef helped me to give dad the appropriate pureed food. Finally, the room is great and the building is always clean.

My mother lived at Ellesmere for 4 and a half years and received excellent care from a compassionate staff group throughout. This was particularly evident in her final days when she was treated with extreme tenderness and care. Staff listened to the family and made everything possible for Mum's final days to be as comfortable as possible. The staff do an amazing job. They are friendly, willing, patient and really care for the people they look after. Well done to the team at Ellesmere.

Chad Bain
Chad BainJob Title:Home Manager

I joined Care UK in 2018 as a Registered Nurse from the Bahamas. Since then, I’ve worked hard to climb the ladder to Senior Registered General Nurse, Clinical Lead and now Home Manager. A little while ago, I even won Care UK’s ‘Nurse of the Year’ award, which was a highlight!

Care UK is a great place to work: as well as being a leading care provider, the support it gives to its teams is exceptional. I’ve been supported to learn and progress and do as much training as possible, and I aim to empower my team in the same way, so they can do their best work.

I’m entirely dedicated to the residents’ well-being and ensuring they receive the highest quality care. Even the smallest actions can make a huge difference to a person and make them feel special and cared for. I always look forward to any opportunities I have during the day to chat to the residents and my colleagues here at Farm Lane and Ellesmere House.
