This was a good place for Mum to recover from surgery. The staff were all great. The only concern was the constant breakdown of lifts and hot water.

Reply from Julie Twidle, Home Manager at The Pines Nursing Home

We are delighted to hear that The Pines has been a good place for your mother to make her recovery after surgery and that you have found the care and support here to be excellent. The health and wellbeing of all our residents is our absolute priority and we work with every resident and their...

Food is excellent but breakfast tray is not quite big enough. Laundry service is excellent and the majority of staff are very kind and efficient. Hot water has not come on from my taps on three separate occasions since I moved in.

My father came to The Pines after a series of falls and the onset of various medical conditions which were hard to manage at home. Every single member of staff at The Pines has been kind, caring and considerate towards him. My sister and I feel incredibly grateful to have found this lovely care home. The house is warm and inviting and he feels comfortable and safe here. The food is also first class. We could not have asked for more.

I was extremely anxious the day I walked into The Pines. My wonderful anut was going to die and could not come home, this was going to be where she would spend her last days.
Thank you to all at The Pines, you were gentle, compassionate, and gave her dignity and peace.

To our family, you gave us the peace of mind we craved. I can only give praise to you all.

I find most (but not all) of the staff extremely pleasant and helpful and the home is very clean. However, there is often an unacceptably long delay when my mother rings the bell for assistance. Also, the building requires to be upgraded - My mother's room needs a fresh coat of paint and new curtains and her bathroom is not fit for purpose and appears to be used as a dumping ground for supplies. The gardens are not well maintained and indeed the footpaths are dangerous.

My mother is well looked after in every respect. Although of severely limited capacities she appreciates regular attention and support provided in various aspects. Staff members are kind, attentive and knowledgeable. I and a few other visitors come regularly to see my mother and we are courteously received on each occasion. Communication is efficient between care home staff and me as the main representative. We appreciate the many and varied qualities of The Pines Care Home and its staff very much.

After submitting our previous review concerning the passing of our Uncle we would like to say at his funeral two of the carers from The Pines attended which we were extremely pleased to see.

Despite not having a call from the manager personally we would like to say very many thanks for your show of support and caring attitude which is greatly appreciated by the whole family.

My mother-in-law has been resident in The Pines for many years, during which of course many changes have occurred eg ownership, staff, different focus on treatment. However, the options stated below cover her current situation and only relate to the last few months. Essentially, we are comfortable with the services provided to her at this time.

As the Home Manager at The Pines Care Home, I lead a professional team in providing the highest standards of residential and nursing care for up to 40 residents.

I began my nursing career in South Africa where I trained in a large university training hospital. It was a fantastic experience that helped me develop the skills and experience that formed the foundation of my nursing career. Ten years ago, I relocated to the United Kingdom where I worked as a nurse and then as a Nursing Home Manager.

I have a wide range of experience across multiple areas including: Apheresis, Midwifery, Mental Health and Community nursing. Care of the elderly has always been a field of care I enjoy and have gravitated towards, a natural fit for me.

I love getting to know each of our residents, their stories and experiences, and I feel a great sense of satisfaction when I know our team has done everything possible and have managed to make a positive difference in enhancing our resident’s wellbeing.

The team at The Pines is dynamic and diverse and we all strive to provide the best care. Every team member is valued, and we support each other in everything we do. We are open, honest, and respectful and we treat our residents with dignity.
