My parents were both in this home and were treated with care and respect. When it became obvious that my father was going to pass away, the home took him back from hospital and allowed him to spend his last few weeks at the home, in comfort and with dignity. We were very grateful to the home and the staff for their help and support during a very difficult time.

My mother was thankfully moved into Abbotsleigh Mews in December 2014. From the start, we as a family knew that she was in the right place for her. She has dementia and was wheelchair bound. She has always loved people around her and the Abbotsleigh Mews staff proved to be wonderful to her. From the general manager to the cleaning ladies she was always treated so kindly. When sadly she passed away the nurses and carers couldn't have been more supportive to myself and my husband. Doctors said that she probably not make it through the night so we started to sort out a hotel nearby, to be near, just in case. The ladies of Abbotsleigh Mews wouldn't hear of it and proceeded to give us a room for the night and fed us as well.

We couldn't praise Abbotsleigh Mews high enough. It was a terrible time for myself and my family but the generosity and care provided by the home helped us enormously. Thank you.

The staff at Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home looked after my brother. During his stay, they were all incredibly professional and made my brothers final weeks so peaceful.

Excellent care is not enough, they should be very proud of their work.

This refers to the special efforts provided by the residential care unit at Smythe House.

My aunt was recovering from an infection that had adversely affected her Alzheimers. The care from the staff was excellent and greatly appreciated by my aunt. She said the food was great.

The patience shown by the staff did a lot to reassure my aunt when her dementia/confusion was at it's worst.

Both my parents were in Abbotsleigh Mews (my mother still lives in the Dementia Nursing Unit). My father moved into one of their Residential Units last June and was very happy there. Unfortunately, he became ill and was admitted to hospital in February. When the doctors told us there was nothing they could do for him, we moved him back into a nursing bed at the home. Sadly my father passed away recently but the care he received during his last few weeks was wonderful.

The staff were very supportive of both him and us family members (hugs were offered when needed) and we could not have asked for better. In the end, we were with him and the staff on duty were amazing - they supported us with information and welcome cups of tea and allowed him to have a dignified end to his 97 and a half years of good life.

This is a very well run care home. All the staff were extremely friendly and offered their time to look after the residents and their family. Everyone involved with my mother who visited this care home remarked that this was a very good care home. The accessibility being able to visit my mother at any time except meal times was great and put me at ease. There was a high level of cleanliness. The staff are not doing an easy job and with long hours - 12-hour shifts - their approach to the job is excellent, always pleased to interact with a smile. Keep up the good work!

Carers very attentive when fully staffed. However, frequently understaffed. However, frequently understaffed!

Records last year in 2017 were not always up-to-date. However, this improved at the latter part of the year when new folders were introduced with a lot more info recorded in them.

A lovely purpose built home, very attractive, with beautiful gardens. Staff are very attentive and professional and take the time to be 'kind' to all residents. There is a good range of activities on offer, both in the home and on arranged trips. Management are very helpful and considerate and have accommodated Dad's needs. Overall a very happy, homely place to be.

I have occasion to visit Abbotsleigh Mews Care Home two or three times weekly in order to visit an elderly relative (Nan) 93 years of age. She has been at Smythe House for two years, during which time her general health has improved and her mental health has remained stable due to the great care and attention she receives from the management and staff at Smythe House. She is so comfortable there, and her favourite saying is "I'm very well fed, very well watered and so very well looked after here, it's my home and I couldn't be happier". On a personal note, I have found Smythe House to be a very happy place where the residents are treated with care and dignity at all times; it's so refreshingly clean and it's a pleasure to visit this house where the visitors are treated respectfully and made welcome, it's just like one big happy family. Thank you, Abbotsleigh Mews, and thank you Smythe House for looking after and caring for our Nan so very well.

Dad has been a resident of Calvin House for the past four years. The continuity of staff has played a major part in the excellent care that he has received. Dad is always treated, with dignity and respect, as the person that he is, rather than the condition that he has. The range of activities organised, provides regular stimulation of body and mind. Any incident, or concern for his health and wellbeing, is immediately shared and discussed with me. This gives me great peace of mind. I am always made to feel welcome when I drop by - a real home-from-home environment. Efforts are continuously made by the team to improve this homely feel; e.g. making the resident's bedroom doors look like street doors (each with an individual look). From manager to gardener, senior supervisor to cleaner - they all work as a team to maintain excellent care for the residents.

My grandmother has been resident at Abbotsleigh Mews for the past 2 years. She is happy and settled. Staff are kind, caring and treat her with dignity and respect. She is encouraged to participate in activities and staff are aware of her likes and dislikes. They are always welcoming to relatives and involve us in decisions concerning my grandmother's care. I can relax knowing that she is in good hands.

My mother receives the most wonderful care. Staff always have time for my mother (and the other residents too!) whether it is to help her with personal care, her comfort, eating, drinking or simply a cuddle and reassurance. My mother is able to retain her independence albeit she does not have a lot left and can choose what she does and when. The staff keep me informed of any changes in her health or well-being, and treat us like family when we visit. Cannot praise the staff highly enough.

When my uncle first came to this care home he could not feed himself, walk or make any conversation but within a few weeks, the transformation was amazing. He could drink from a cup himself, his eyes sparked again, with the help of a frame he could do small steps. The staff are all very caring and attentive and the proof was there for us all to see.

Bevan House undergoing refurbishment caused staff so much extra work where at one time residents had to spend time in their rooms - causing staff to visit on lots more occasions.
The care my husband has been given was still carried out and meals though difficult were as normal as were drinks and activities, still done as far as possible - rooms cleaned and free from dust.

I can only offer praise for the staff and the caring in this unit, second to none.

The care my father received in the dementia unit and later in the nursing unit was outstanding. The skill patience and humour with which the nurses and carers treated my father was wonderful. They did everything they could to make his final 18 months as comfortable and as normal as possible. He always had everything he needed and in his words "they treat me like a king". It was important to me to find a care home that would suit his personality. I certainly found it in Abbotsleigh Mews.

The loving support the staff offer my father is second to none. The senior carer in Calvin House takes so much time to update my father with Crystal Palace football achievements, which was so important to him in the past. Her husband too is a lifelong supporter. (Poor man).

The other wonderful carer is the deputy team leader who's endless care makes my father smile and laugh as she talks to him about is past adventurous life. The team leader creates a smooth and dignified home where residents are given so much time and care.

My review as a relative is regarding nursing care over the past year. The nursing staff seem dedicated to the residents at this nursing care unit. The care residents receive is dependent on sufficient staff being available at the times and the number of hoists available.

Most staff treat the residents in a dignified way.
