We chose Chestnut Manor for my elderly mother when she needed nursing care 3 years ago and it was a great move for her.
There is a real sense of family and community there, helped by the welcoming entrance cafe and beautiful decor and courtyard; friendly members of staff at all levels; an excellent activities team and engaged carers who treated her with kindness and respect.
It's had its moments over the 3 years but is now very well managed and well staffed.
She wanted to die in familiar surroundings with those she loved nearby and she was able to do that, with the home providing end of life care to her, but also supporting us with great kindness through a difficult time.

Thank you all very much.

What can I say, other than well done to Chestnut Manor Care Home for the way they put on a very good Valentine's day for the residents. I was invited to a special 3 course dinner with my partner, and with all the trimmings, of balloons, hearts, chocolate etc. It made me feel special to be part of this. I can't praise the admin staff & activity ladies of the care home highly enough. Thank you so, so much.

Mum has been at Chestnut Manor for nine months and we are very pleased with the care and support. The staff are excellent from reception to care to activities. The summer party was lots of fun as were the Christmas activities. Outstanding! The only room for improvement is food which is a bit hit and miss!

Mum settled in at Chestnut Manor Care Home very well and has made some lovely friends there. We had a few issues with the food alternatives for Mum but must say that since the new manager started everything was promptly rectified to a high level. The activity team are amazing, bring fun & challenges to all residents and they are very attentive to all. Carers, support staff and reception are all very welcoming and a pleasure to chat to. Chestnut Manor is a very happy, safe & caring environment.

Three years ago my wife became a resident at Chestnut Manor Care Home where she has received professional care with compassion, understanding and friendship, all this has been greatly appreciated and a great relief for our family. Chestnut Manor Care Home is bright and clean and more like a family home. Its the wonderful staff who are at the heart of this. The carers, nurses, and all the support team who are part of the housekeeping, and the receptionists who are so welcoming. It demonstrates a happy team lead by good management. It has been reassuring to know that my wife is looked after so well. We meet many people in our lives and we occasionally meet people who we just know will make this a better world. The staff at Chestnut Manor are such people. It has been a privilege to know them and call them friends.

I have found the home very welcoming from the reception staff, to the entertainment staff, cleaners, hairdresser and care staff. It is an extremely brightly furnished home. The bedrooms are regularly cleaned and they hav all the facilities you need e.g. ensuite. The entertainment staff are brilliant! They make the residents feel very welcome and laughter is in abundance. The care staff are very good and on hand to help.

Lots of positives about Chestnut Manor. It is very clean and well-kept and well decorated with a lot of effort out into seasonal changes. My children have loved the animals that have visited the home (we're still sad that the rabbits and budgie left). The food is good, if rather English school inspired. My mum has been there 18 months and the nursing care has been very good. Special mentions for a staff member who was super welcoming when my mum first moved in and another who is generally brilliant and has turned the 2nd floor around. We find the evening staff very shy so it is hard to get general updates in the evenings (when I am able to visit) so I find it hard to judge how much entertainment is offered to bed-bound residents.

My father came to Chestnut Manor Care Home for respite care while my mother, his usual carer, recovered from surgery. He was, to be honest, reluctant to come. However, the staff did everything they could to make him feel welcome and at home. He made friends with other residents and joined in some of the activities. He also enjoyed the food, which was of a high standard. Should we need further respite care in the future, we would definitely return.

My mother's care was exemplary. She attended for respite care. The home is bright and modern. The interior is of a very high standard and the ambience is calm. My mother's room was bright, clean and airy. Meals were in an upbeat dining area where residents interacted with each other. A daily schedule of activities stimulated residents. The best aspect of Chestnuts Manor Care Home were the caring and professional staff at all levels. My mother was treated respectfully at all times. My sister and I, as visitors, were welcomed with kindness. Should my mother require further residential care, we will definitely be back without hesitation.

We cannot fault the care and attention that the management team and staff play in making my father's respite care stay, the best we could ask for. 110%!
The team take complete worry away from our lives from the moment we drop him off.
The facilities are 5 star and the level of cleanliness and attention to detail is second to none.
We would not have dad stay anywhere else now, and we feel that the service is top class and the team work tirelessly for this to work.
Everything is of the highest quality such as the food, entertainment, trips out, the bedroom facilities and accessories. It's a delight.
Dad is treated with kindness, care and dignity always. Nothing is ever too much for the team.

Thank you for caring for him so well.

My Mother has been at Chestnut Manor since its inception in the Autumn of 2021. She has severe Dementia and has many complex needs that over a period of two and half years have been handled skillfully.

She has also been treated with much care, kindness and generosity of spirit. It is a testament to all members of staff from management, nursing, caring, catering and reception that my Mum is still here and has had a quality of life, she otherwise wouldn't have had. All the staff have my heartfelt gratitude, thank you.

My friend moved here 2 months ago. She needs a great deal of care and assistance with everything. Staff go out of their way to help her and to communicate with her. The staff are kind and caring and look after residents very well. Clear clinical management structure, manager approachable and efficient. Any minor issues are dealt with promptly. Stable relationship with GP practice which conducts weekly visits. Facilities are excellent, always clean and tidy. I am not responsible for payment of fees and so cannot comment on value for money.

My father came to the Chestnut Care Home last week.
His legs need attention weekly due to having serious ulcerations- the team was amazing starting with removing the dressing followed by giving my father the most amazing shower, he was in heaven!
Finally, both ladies applied the viscopaste bandage which is put on in a specific way - the staff member had watched the video I had sent and then applied the process perfectly!

What a team - thank you.

We are absolutely thrilled with the quality of care and quality of life that our elderly, independent-spirited mother is experiencing at Chestnut Manor. The home is beautiful, the facilities superb, the food wonderful, the atmosphere calm and happy and there are lots of varied activities and encouragement to socialise - but what really makes this home special is all the wonderful staff, from carers and nurses to housekeeping and reception. We've seen our mother flourish in an environment of real love, compassion and professionalism, where she is understood, valued and respected as an individual. We are made to feel welcome at any time, are kept informed about any issues, and always feel able to raise any questions or concerns. Our mother has dementia, so her care needs will change over the next years, but we are confident, having observed similarly excellent care of other residents with more advanced dementia, that she'll continue to be lovingly supported throughout.

We were very fortunate to find such a welcoming and caring home for our Ursuline sisters. Most of them arrived in September 2021 and settled so quickly which is a great tribute to the staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are attentive and courteous. They act quickly if something is wrong and contact me if they have any concerns. The activities are well planned, great respect is given to people who belong to a faith tradition. The end-of-life care is excellent. The Manager, leads a great team.

We had a very poor experience at a care home locally, where my friend declined in health rapidly; but the care received at Chestnut Manor is of no comparison. The majority of staff are outstanding or what I like to call ‘Westlake Wonders’. The visuals are clearly magnificent, but it is the quality of care given that is of utmost importance and this is where I feel Chestnut really stands out from the crowd. The respect, compassion and kindness given is matched by expertise and professionalism. Residents also have a number of specialised resources available, alongside staff who really know their stuff. It's clear through their actions that the well-being of residents is at the heart of everything, even when difficulties occur. Where there are errors, it's dealt with appropriately and with complete transparency. The atmosphere at events is joyous and there is love between staff and the residents, with delicious food too! We're so happy at Chestnut and have optimism about the future.
