My mum was a temporary resident (c. 5 weeks) at Chestnut Court when her long term care home in Romford refused to have her back after contracting the coronavirus as they said they weren't equipped to manage her quarantine. Mum was placed in Chestnut Court by the Health Authority and it was the best
thing for her in the end. The Home isn't as 'posh and hotel-like' as her Romford nursing home but the staff were more in attendance and professional, the food far superior and her overall care superb. I would have happily kept mum at Chestnut Court but mum missed her friends at her previous home so eventually, I managed to get her back. I would highly recommend Chestnut Court.

My Dad was a resident at this home for under a year. Sadly he had recently passed away. The care and love he received by this amazing team was just suburb. His final days he was respected and was given dignity always. The management and staff were so kind to my wife and I. We felt this is more than
a business. This is part of our extended family. The nurses on the first floor were outstanding. One nurse spent many hours caring for my dad on his final days. We would like to thank you all for being so kind. Thank you.

I cannot express just how much I appreciate the quality of care, respect and professionalism of the management and staff of Chestnut Court. When visiting my aunt I immediately feel the great atmosphere that permeates in the home. When I ask about my aunt I immediately get a detailed answer as to how
she is. My aunt is 100 years old and in the current emergency, I am completely confident her quality of care will not in any way become less important.

I would like to thank all staff and carers who are looking after my father in the unfortunate times we are having.
If it was not for your dedication, and commitment to look after all the residents, we would not know what to do.
I really appreciate all you do, and you deserve to be recognised as front
line workers.
You are our heroes.

My mother sadly passed last week from a short illness, however, has been in the home for the last two years. During this time she has received excellent care, she loved the activities and was made to feel very welcome. She continued to tell all the family regularly she loved being there. Our thanks
to the management and all staff especially at this difficult time, please stay safe.

I lost my father-in-law December 2019 2 weeks before his death we was advised to look for a care home that would be suitable and fits the care that he needed, came across Chestnut Court Care Home on the list that was given by the Hospital had a look at the Reviews and was so happy and determined that
this was the place where we all wanted my father-in-law to go. The staff and all the nurses when we arrived for the meeting were unbelievable couldn’t have asked for more. Wishing everyone well in these hard times that we are facing all the residents couldn’t be in better hands my heart goes out to you all.

My mum was in for palliative care and I couldn't have had better care and support for my mum and family. All the staff treated you like family, couldn't have been treated better and when my mum passed away the care carried on, I cannot thank them enough while we went through a hard time they were there
to help. I would 100% recommend Chestnut Court.

Since our initial visit to the home, we have been greatly impressed that you can visit at any time and nothing is hidden from you. Staff are welcoming and friendly. The whole set up comes across as a personal home and family orientated concern. My mother seems much more contented and relaxed since being
there.

I moved my Dad from a previous home to Chestnut Court in January 2019. From the moment we arrived all the staff were amazing, helpful, friendly and made Dad and I feel so welcome. They have been efficient and all Dad's needs have been met. The past 3 months have been particularly distressing but I now
feel a sense of relief and reassurance now Dad is at Chestnut Court. I cannot fault their care, their patience and my Dad seems much happier in his new home.

My husband was only in the home for 7 weeks but the care and kindness he received was second to none. When you have to choose a home for someone you love and care for is a very hard task, but when my daughter and I visited the home without notice we were made to feel very welcome. Myself and family
felt this home was the right choice.

Only had experience for a few weeks but found the staff to be very caring and professional whilst caring for an elderly friend/neighbour who was referred for assessment. Whilst she was there she was admitted to hospital and then returned to Chestnut Court for palliative care was always kept informed
of her progress.

Her room was very clean and I always noticed she was not neglected being washed and changed every time I visited.

The manager went above and beyond her duties. After the patient's death, she contacted the funeral directors for me and took me to register the death as I was not next of kin as her relatives were unable to get here in time and things needed to be arranged in a hurry.
Extremely happy with the care and service provided.

Chestnut Court Care Home was like a family home filled with caring people, management, carers, nursing staff, kitchen staff, cleaners and laundry staff. Everyone was so very kind and considerate and their aim was to please. My congratulations to the nurses who were excellent at treating my mother's
leg. The cleanliness of the whole place and the food was extremely good. I would not hesitate to recommend Chestnut Court and my thanks go out to them all looking after my mother in her final weeks.

The manager and her team have done a wonderful job of making my nan feel welcomed as she settles into her new life at Chestnut Court. My nan was extremely apprehensive about leaving her home but the team have provided support and reassurance throughout this whole process. I can not thank them enough
for making my nan feel safe and cared for. Every aspect of this care home works from the activities, food to the cleaning staff. Everyone is just lovely.

My mother spent three and a half weeks here as respite care. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The management were also very helpful. Food was good and day activities were planned to keep up spirits. Overall, the rooms, gardens and general areas were all good to excellent
- would highly recommend Chesnut Court as a place where an elderly member of the family would be well cared for.

My dad is in this nursing home and I must say that he is very well cared for. All his needs are met and the endless cups of tea he likes are always there for him. He has dementia and since he was transferred to Chestnut Lodge from hospital he looks so much better, he is always clean and tidy, his
room, bed etc are all spotlessly clean. All our family are so grateful to all the staff and we would like to give them all a very big thank you.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.074) out of 10 for Chestnut Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.199 for Chestnut Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (124 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (12 Poors x 2) + (16 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.199
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut Court Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2018

Hi, my name is Cathriona and I am a Registered Nurse with 21 years experience. During my career I have worked in a variety of settings but have worked in a nursing home setting for the last 9 years.

I am originally from Ireland and completed my training as a Nurse there. I moved over to the UK in 2018. I have worked with MMCG since then and have had the opportunity to work my way up the ladder from a Nurse to Deputy, Acting Home Manager and now Home Manager.

I look forward to meeting each of you over the coming weeks. My door is always open for chats or more serious discussions. It is a privilege and a pleasure to now be part of the Chestnut Court Family.
