The home is very welcoming. All the staff are friendly and always very accommodating. They listen to your concerns and put the needs of the resident first. The home is always clean and my husband seems to enjoy the food. I am impressed with the range of activities on offer.

My mother is looked after in every way with dignity and love. She is totally not able to do anything for herself. The staff are all amazing and support us as well. Activities especially the music brings mum back from things she doesn't remember, she has severe dementia. The garden is beautiful.

A very clean and pleasant care home, with very willing staff, though I feel probably a little understaffed until recently there was a young lady who took the residents for various projects, and was of great help to keep the residents interested in various projects which most found enjoyable, who will replace her? There were quite a few visiting groups of singers, artists to entertain from time to time.

I was welcomed by the receptionist and asked to sign in. I went to my friend's room, she is bed bound. All the staff that I met were warm and friendly. My friend commented that she is well cared for and made to feel part of the community.

The activities organiser called in to see her and told her what would be going on and that a service dog would visit later that day and would see all residents, even those who could not make it to the lounge.

Overall my family and I have found Clairleigh to be a good nursing home. They take care of my wife in a compassionate and kindly way. The activity program is very stimulating which is very important for residents suffering from dementia. An area for review would be dietry planning - to take cognisance of residents changing calorie intake requirements. The clinical support is good both nursing and GP services. On the whole communication is good although some foreign-born carers may struggle sometimes with the English language.

Reply from Billy Bains, Director at Clairleigh Nursing Home

I understand the point raised regards foreign - born carers however there are sufficient numbers of English born staff, we use a mixture of staff, we have looked at the dietary planning issue, residents that have capacity are able to make decisions regards how much food they wish to consume.

Our father was admitted to Clairleigh Nursing Home in August as he could no longer be looked after at home. The care he received until the day he died 11 weeks later was excellent. All the staff made dad feel welcome, treated him with respect and were also very kind and caring. Clairleigh felt like a big family home. The activities were numerous and always excellent! Thank you.

Mum was a resident at Clairleigh for three years. The home provides an excellent level of care, mum at all times was treated with the utmost respect and love by all members of staff. The home offers a clean and warm environment with a very pretty garden which residents are encouraged to use at all times. In the warmer months the entertainment team lay on outside live music and food events for all residents and family members to enjoy. There is always a full calendar of entertainment laid on and the staff take the residents out of the home to visit local attractions. There is a hairdressing salon, cinema room and a sensory room (with portable equipment for residents who are not mobile).
In her final weeks, the staff sat with mum whenever we couldn't be there, this gave us great comfort. All staff supported the family enormously at the end and throughout mum's time with them, for which we cannot thank them enough.

Top class with a team of highly dedicated staff.

My father went into Clairleigh for a month of respite care in May. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there, any nerves we had as a family were quickly abated by the kindness and professionalism of the staff. He was very well cared for by everyone and made to feel like part of the family. I can't speak highly enough about every aspect of Clairleigh and I a very grateful for the way the wonderful staff looked after him.

Dad stayed at Clairleigh for two months following a spell in hospital earlier in the year. We we delighted with the care and kindness he received at Clairleigh. He has severe dementia and Alzheimer's, and the staff at Clairleigh looked after his every need extremely well. The staff are lovely and the home itself looks more like a boutique five star hotel than a nursing home - it's extremely smart and spotlessly clean.

Although he was unable to participate due to his condition, the home has a wonderful entertainment and activity programme for the residents. Mum would visit almost every day and she got to enjoy and take part in the fun, which was lovely for her. They have a truly gorgeous garden there for the residents to enjoy.

It's a place I would be more than happy to live at when I'm old and need good care. Thank you everyone at Clairleigh for helping us at a difficult time.

My father stayed at Clairleigh after having suffered a stroke in January 2025. He also has mild dementia/Alzheimer's. Clairleigh really is a wonderful care home. We couldn't fault the staff. They were so lovely and caring and patient. Our father was extremely well cared for during his time at the home. He made a great recovery and we now have him back at home with us but should we ever need additional care for him in the future, we would have no hesitation in returning him to Clairleigh!

Overall Experience
Mum was a resident of Clairleigh from November 2021 until her death in January 2025. The care she received was excellent and she thoroughly enjoyed joining in the many activities and visits provided. Her health particularly her mental health improved after she moved in thanks to the engagement with the staff and other residents. Towards the end of 2024 she became increasingly frail and sadly died in early January 2025. The end of life care she received from both the nurses and care staff enabled her to stay at the home rather than have to go into hospital. This care at the end of her life was outstanding, both the kindness and professionalism of all the staff helped both her and the family during this difficult time.

A special mention for a certain member of staff and the Activities team for all their hard work and the way they treat all with dignity.

I cannot praise this home enough, they genuinely care for their residents. My mother was admitted in July 2024, and the staff from the nurses to the carers and management and entertainment are completely committed to making my mum's new life as comfortable as possible. I visit at various times of the day and have always been welcomed. My mother seems very happy and I know that she feels confident in their hands. Thank you Clairleigh Nursing Home.

I have an old friend who has been at Clairleigh for about two years. I visit her each week and I have been very impressed. I think the most important thing when thinking of a care home is the staff" All those I met are just the best. They genuinely love their residents. There is plenty of entertainment for those who want to partake. I was amazed at how quickly my friend accepted her new life. She has a very comfortable en-suite room and can spend as much time as she wants there. Having seen several care homes I would highly recommend Clairleigh.
