I would like to thank the whole care team at The Grange. Sadly my Mum passed away in May. The end of life care Mum received was second to none. Thank you all so much for your care and compassion. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you!

My mother was placed in The Grange since December 2018. She has received great care, kindness and compassion by the staff. I would like to mention some who have been outstanding - Team leader and staff.

My aunt has been a resident for 3 years, staff are always kind and courteous to her. She has formed friendly relationships with other residents and seems on the whole settled, although some days are getting rather difficult now due to advancing dementia. Her room is nice with patio doors opening onto the garden, she loves the seeing birds every day. My absolute bugbear is the return of her clothes, we have brought her at least 100 pairs of pants during her time at the home each week I go she has none or 1 or 2 pairs, I go to the laundry and may find only 2 or 3 pairs, its ridiculous how week on week they disappear. They are all marked with her name and still disappear, we buy them each week for them to vanish it infuriates me. After another fall on Friday, I asked the staff to let me know what outcome was when she was taken to St Mary's, 2 days later still no contact. Weeks ago she was taken to the hospital about her pain in her eye, still no contact about what the outcome is! More definite contact with family needed.

My father has received the most exceptional care in the Rose Ward. He was cared for above all with love, affection and unbelievable kindness.
The standard of this care home is extremely high and my dad loved his meals with extra ice-cream. The kindness of the staff was exemplary.
My dad's family live in South Africa and we were so at peace knowing how wonderfully he was cared for.

He was so very happy during his short stay here. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

As a family, we are very happy with the care received at The Grange and from Primrose Unit. We have built, and continue to build, a good relationship with the staff to ensure the best care possible is provided to our mum.

Entertainers/activities that go room to room would be useful so every resident can see what is on offer.

My mother moved to The Grange Care Centre after a lengthy stay in a hospital. We were advised she needed 'end of life care.' We were given a choice of three homes. This home was by far the nicest. The welcome of the staff, spotlessly clean, cheery settings, great facilities and dedicated, attentive patient care. This was followed through right to the end. A difficult time for the family made so much less painful because of the excellent care.

Overall Experience

My mother spent nearly two years in The Grange Care Home before she succumbed to cancer and was moved to hospital for her last days at the age of 90.

The carers and nurses were all lovely, hard-working, polite, compassionate and caring. My mother was often very depressed but they would sit with her, when they had the time, and try to cheer her up with conversation as she was an educated woman and kept all her mental faculties intact to the last.

The rooms and communal areas were kept clean and tidy but the carers seemed a bit over-worked for the number of very frail, bedridden and dependent residents plus the many afflicted with dementia that they had to look after and keep a close eye on.

All staff were willing to offer information and support when asked. Overall, I would recommend this care home.

I have been very pleased with the level of care my wife has received at The Grange Care Centre since moving here last August. The staff are committed, caring and friendly and I have been impressed by the very low staff turnover. Cleanliness and hygiene are excellent and the menus are varied although can be variable in quality.

I find The Grange Care Centre a very good care home as I am only here until my flat has been refurbished. The activities are really good and the carers are very helpful. I have a social worker who I sometimes talk to but I wish I could see more of her so I can catch up with any news about my flat. With all that's going on I am satisfied.

Having stayed here 3 times or so over the years, the service seems to improve all the time.
From top to bottom the home is run extremely well. The cleaners are all friendly and fantastic. The food is of very high standard, thanks to the chef.
The management keep a low profile and let the staff do what they do best, but are there when needed for discussion and advice.
The icing on the cake for me are the staff. Friendly, helpful and fun but most importantly fantastic at their job.

Best summed up if I had an elderly relative, this would be the place to bring them for care.

I am neither happy nor unhappy with living at the Grange Care Centre. But I will say this it is not for young people, they mainly cater for the elderly.

The food here is of poor quality. So much so I cook my own food. I buy it from Tesco and have it delivered.

I am pretty much independent, there are only a few things I cannot do, like put ointment on my back.

I can shower/toilet by myself.

Reply from Sherry Mutambiranwa, Home Manager at The Grange Care Centre

I'm sorry that D P does not like the food served at the home. There is an option to choose or order an alternative from what has been served to the majority of the residents. It is difficult to cater to everyone's taste in a home with 160 residents but the chef tries hard and will prepare special orders.
