The Review Score of 8.3 (maximum of 10) for The Harefield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Harefield Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.053 for The Harefield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.053

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.25 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Harefield Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 8 positive Reviews (40 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 8 Target = 0.500

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My wife is being well looked after by a team of sympathetic, caring, kind, patient, happy and loving carers and staff that anyone could wish for. My family and I are happy with the way she is treated. We hope this carries on with the regular carers and not agency staff. I would be willing to increase my contribution to increase the regular carers wages.

At first felt very happy with the care home as the care seemed pleasing and good but later felt the organisation of management was very poor with staff feeling exhausted and morale was at an all-time low with the lack of staff to cover shifts, therefore, the care wained. We were pleased to move my father elsewhere which we were very happy with. I feel our family would not recommend this care home.

My father is always well looked after and is very happy in the home.
He looks healthier and happier than he has done for 5 or 6 years and he has been in the care home for 4 years now.
The staff are doing an excellent job.

Thank you for your review. Great to hear that your dad is happy and healthy and well looked after. The Bupa customer care team.

I have found Harefield a caring and reliable home for my sister-in-law over the last eight years.
She has always seemed settled and comfortable and the carers always have time for her, that I have seen.
Her clothes have been clean and changed as far as I'm aware. Feeding is a problem at times as she plays with food at times rather than eating it. I think they do their best though to manage this problem. It's also nice to know chiropody and hairdressing are an option in the home.

The Bupa Customer Care Team.

My father has dementia and extreme mobility problems. My mother and I have been very happy with the quality of care he receives. The staff talk to us and him often and really do express genuine care and concern for my father's well being. The home is always very clean and the meals served look very well prepared. I believe all is being done to make this a proper home for the residents. Thanks to all the staff who look after my father so well.

It was a very hard decision to make when a nursing home had to be found for my mother, but after a long search, I found the best! The Harefield Care Home. My mother is treated with kindness, respect and dignity and has great person-centred care. The manager is a great role model, very supportive and is never too busy to see me . The atmosphere is homely. The cleanliness is excellent the food good and every member of the team shows professionalism at all times.
