Overall, this is a very good care home. The attitude is generally very good and they work really hard to take good care of the residents in what can be quite challenging circumstances. There is lots of effort to create a strong community atmosphere. A major plus is that they are very good listeners, so whilst they can't always do everything to meet everyone's own specific needs or wants they always listen and do their best to accommodate.

It is a well appointed building with an attractive garden. It provides good care for patients who have a wide range of needs. I was a resident as the husband of a wife who was undergoing cancer treatment in a nearby hospital. My room was fine and the staff understanding and helpful. It was good to see quizzes and review of the press to keep people active and informed. At times there can be some confusion at meal times but its OK, it grows on you favourably.

Before coming to the home two of the management came to the rehabilitation unit at the hospital and told me about Heathland Court. The welcoming atmosphere greeted me when I arrived and all members of the care home have shown kindness and support including the residents. It is well appointed and was well decorated for the Queen's birthday. The food is very good, varied, colourful with salad, vegetables important part. Activities take part of each day, a programme is given to residents and the activity organisers go round encouraging people to come and it is lovely to see wheelchair residents joining in.

As I no longer live in London I came to Heathland Court to enable me to have some cancer treatment. I was warmly welcomed and the staff were very sympathetic to my needs. I did not like the ripple mattress on my bed and this was changed immediately. The staff listen to residents and all are treated with kindness, Heathland Court is an attractive building with a lovely garden which I very much enjoyed. Visitors are also warmly welcomed- my 7 year old grandson said "You have a very nice room, Granny!"

Since I have been here certain items of laundry have not come back and I have had to buy new underwear. Also some of the carers seem to think that you are here for them to do what they want to do and not what you want them to do. But overall the staff are okay.

Although my uncle was only in the home as a respite resident for 2 months he found the stay to begin with very good but as time went on he felt that there was not enough staff on especially at night. The food was always cold not just sometime but all the time. I think the place is just very short staffed.

Heathlands has taken my mother in, in the last months of her life. They have welcomed her in and taken, in my opinion, very good care of her. She has been listened to and her dignity preserved. I visit most days, the staff always inform me of anything relevant, significant (on occasions phoning me for updates.) It seems to me that everyone communicates well and generally knows mum well. The staff appear consistent and patient. I was so despondent with the care available, it's been such a relief to have found Heathlands. Thank you!
