Hillside Nursing Home offers residential care for the elderly and Nursing Care, including higher needs and dementia care, together with a respite service for other carers in the Romford area. My mum who has dementia was moved to Hillside Nursing Home in August 2019. I was very impressed by the way staff interact with residents and the caring, warming and consideration they show towards them. I have also been kept up to date of any issues relevant to mum, so I would defiantly recommend Hillside
Nursing Home to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one and for the peace of mind knowing they will be well looked after and cared for.

Hillside Nursing Home is very welcoming and friendly. The staff are all very pleasant and always have a nice smile.
All the residents have a cake on their birthdays, which is wonderful and the entertainment is superb. Management joins in, and it gives a lovely atmosphere.
The food is good, and a
nice cup of tea is very much appreciated. Long may it continue. Good health and happiness to all.

All staff are very pleasant to visitors and always have a cheery smile when I visit. A great deal of patience is shown when needed and everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
A welcome cup of tea is always offered. I felt my husband is safe and well cared for, which, of course, is why I chose
Hillside Nursing Home. I am always made to feel welcome and never made to feel "in the way".
I can always ask questions should I need to.

Really pleased with mums care. The staff are fantastic, couldn't wish for better. They are very caring and have time to talk to you. The food is lovely and has a wide range. I am so pleased mum is staying here. Would definitely recommend this nursing home.

I visited an elderly man who has been in the home for three years and I looked after him for five years at his home and now he is in this care home and we have a lovely manager and she is very suited to this care home and looks after the home and help the elderly with breakfast and cup of tea, chats
to the elderly in their room if they are in bed and the care home is good and the staff are too.

As a family, we would like to thank all the staff at Hillside Nursing Home for the care and kindness shown to our mother. All the staff are wonderful, especially one staff member who my mother has grown very fond of. Nothing is too much trouble and her bubbly personality is very good for helping my
mother adjust to new surroundings. The manager is very competent and has excellent people skills.

Although it appears that dad has deteriorated generally in regard to his condition, he has put on weight since his arrival. This, in turn, has meant he is healthier in general and has not needed hospital care as a result. I can only attribute this to the care of the home which, although less glamorous,
is much better for him than the last one.... Thanks for all your assistance!

My husband has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. He was told about 18 months ago and since then he has had 'funny turns' which he lands up in hospital, with the last two he had been in 24 hours and completely altered my husband from the day before he went from hospital to Hillside Nursing Home. It
has been a nightmare for me and the family but the care and attention he gets is outstanding. I feel like the home is an extended family and feel at peace he is so looked after.

Inequitable distribution of staff resource on the two floors of the home. Inadequate nurse and carer staff resource/allowances made for those needier, bedridden residents on the first floor that need more personal care. There should be a resident’s room converted to a nursing office/facility on the
top floor. It has been noted that nursing staff are expected to be on call to residents, and at the same time still handle confidential telephone discussions with residents’ family members or the doctor about the residents’ health matters. These calls have taken place whilst visitors are in attendance and with screaming dementia residents demanding attention from nursing staff in the background. It would be helpful if family members had a private room/facility at the home that is not used by staff for breaks, staff training and photocopying. Personal daily healthcare records should be computerised so that better use can be made of existing staff time instead of carer staff having to complete copious, repetitive manual records.
