The Hornchurch Care Home, conveniently located in a residential area of Hornchurch, Essex, provides personalised residential, nursing and dementia care to older people.

My dad arrived at the home last August 2016. He had ben in a house where he spent his entire time in his room. Since he has been in the Bupa Hornchurch Care Home, he has thrived. He is now really enjoying his food in the company of other residents in the dining room. He enjoys outings and activities
most days of the week. The carers are cheerful and attentive and make him laugh

My neighbour needed nursing care (vascular dementia) and other issues.
She is 90 years old and we looked at care homes in RM13 and RM12 over a few weeks.
The home we chose was far superior overall.
The whole team at Bupa Hornchurch are on the ball, all striving for the same goal, the people they
care for.
Over many years I have seen care homes where my family and friends have been.
This home is by far the best.
I'm sure my neighbour will be cared for and safe. We have kept an eye on her for 17 years and we would not just put her in any home, we feel this is a wise choice.

My mother has been a resident since August 2015 and we have been previously very unhappy. Management has changed and over the last few months improved but there is still a lot of improvement required. The rooms are small as said in a previous review, when we arrived our room was in a terrible state,
we painted it for our mum in the colours she wanted but the general maintenance of the building is poor, 'maintenance man' is not good. The room was very dirty, blue tac and holes in the wall from the previous occupant, dull and dingy. Her bedding was ripped! We cried that's how upset we all were, including my mum! Decor is tired.
Mum's clothes often go missing and are often shrunk. The food isn't good, no sugar/salt in food and the cuts of meat are cheap, fatty and hard for them to eat. Soup is not palatable and cake is tasteless. Needs improvement.
The staff, in general, are helpful and friendly. The entertainment is excellent and the entertainments coordinator does a fantastic job.

My mother does appear to be very happy and well cared for. The only unsatisfactory element is the rooms which for a long stay person are extremely small and basic. I would expect better lighting, in my mother's case, she cannot even see out of the window as the bed is in front of it, better seating
areas in the room and generally more space.

Under new management, standards have been raised including the opportunity to discuss care standards during planned meetings. My mother (and late father) have been here for 4 years and seem happy in their care.

Pervine Emery

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2021

As a Registered Nurse with over 30
years’ experience, Pervine has gained a
wealth of experience in providing care
and nursing support to elderly people, to
enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable
leader who is passionate about delivering
the highest standards in care and quality
of life for Residents.


Pervine closely shares HC-One’s vision
in aiming to provide the kindest care for
each and every Resident. She extends this
caring approach to her Colleagues and
works closely with them to deliver care
and support to Residents in a way that
they gain the most benefit, in a warm and
welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and
activities with nearby schools and clubs
and is always keen to include the local
community in life at The Hornchurch.
When asked what she enjoys most about
her role, Pervine remarked: “It means
the world to me to know I’m making a
difference in the lives of our Residents. It’s
always wonderful to see them with smiles
on their faces.”


Outside of work, Pervine enjoys spending
quality time with her family and friends.
She also remarks herself as an avid
shopper, as she enjoys shopping at her
local high street stores.
