Overall Experience
My mother has been a resident at the Cloisters Care Home for nearly three years now. Initially, we were not sure what to expect but the staff explained everything and answered all our queries.
I have found the care and support for my mother to be of the highest standard you could wish for.
All the staff, from the nurses, carers, administrators, cleaning staff and kitchen staff are excellent.
The food is good with varied dishes that are changed every week.
As a result of the superb care and support that she receives, my mother is settled and happy at Cloisters Care Home.

My two brothers and I are all in agreement with this review.

Reply from David Martins, National Sales Manager at Cloisters Care Home

Horrible service and care. They had problems at the start and have only gotten worse. They seem short-staffed or something and every mistake is met with well that wasn't me by every carer, and the management doesn't do anything about it. My father was in a home with some extra care and he felt they did a way better job than this lot, despite it not being adequate for him at all.

The manager was the best by far since my mother moved in in July 2015. Sadly left.

All staff are caring and friendly with special mention of the carers and the nurse.

Having had the devastating news about my father’s terminal illness, it was clear he was going to need specialist palliative care in the final stages of his life. All local care home managers we spoke with were brilliant - very helpful and very informative. We finally chose Cloisters Care Home where their team gave us a considerable amount of confidence about all aspects of his care. My father was at Cloisters for around ten weeks before he sadly passed away. He built a strong bond with all his carers and was provided with high levels of care, including emotional support. We were able to visit him frequently, all within Covid guidelines, allowing all of us, including his grandchildren, to spend precious time with him. The team at Cloisters gave my father something he always wanted to maintain – and that was his dignity. Even during the final moments after his passing, the level of professionalism and care shown by the team was incredible. We will be eternally grateful to everyone at Cloisters.

Overall Experience
The minute you walk through the door and are met by the manager and her team the caring shows. My ex-husband went to Cloisters Care Home for palliative care. This was during the difficult time of Covid and lockdown. It was a hard time for everyone, staff, patients and families. The nursing staff were brilliant and made sure he got all the care needed. They helped him through all his little meltdowns with a smile on their face. We could phone anytime during the day or evening for updates and we were allowed to speak with him on the phone.
When lockdown eased they made sure we got to visit him as often as was allowed. It was all well organised with rapid Covid tests before entering.
When the sad time came to say goodbye to him, he and the family were all treated really well and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Even after he had passed the support from the manager and her team was really great.

Thank you for making his last few months more bearable for him.

This is a happy and cheerfully run home. Welcoming, clean and fresh admission. Care staff are all very kind under the excellent manager who cares deeply for all her staff and residents. Food not always of the taste of my friend, who despite being the age of 97 is a very good cook herself. Need to be served a little hotter than tepid/warm. She is not a complainer. Customer care for paying residents needs more application. Thank you to everyone who has helped her stay to be a comfortable one.

My mum has been in the home since last August and we as family were very pleased with the care and support my mum received in the home.
My mum was given choice of any meals she requires by the kitchen staff.
The staff were very friendly and made my mum comfortable in the home.
As she could understand a little English the home had Asian carers who could communicate with my mum.
All her needs were met in this home.
Me and my family were welcome by the staff who were very friendly and could visit whenever.
During the lockdown we were able to see my mum with distance in the garden which was lovely for my mum.

Thank you for the care and support for my mum, from her son and daughters.

The lockdown has been and continues to make visiting loved ones difficult. However, Cloisters has kept up its high standard throughout and during July I have seen everyone going above and beyond to ensure everyone that is able gets to see relatives as often as possible. Garden visits and walks around the grounds everyone is happy and enjoys their day. Birthdays are celebrated and staff love to join in with everyone. We are very lucky for mum to be so loved.

My mother has been at Cloisters for several months now and we have visited very regularly. From the very first phone call and visit right through to the point of submitting this review, I have been extremely pleased with her care. She is treated well, with warmth and dignity. She isn't a big eater and has difficulties around food but staff do their best to understand her preferences, offer her alternatives and encourage her to eat and drink. They are diligent, proactive and genuinely caring. As other reviewers have said, all the staff, those behind the scenes and those we see regularly including the carers, nurses and management, do a difficult job brilliantly. Thank you, everyone, at Cloisters for the biggest gift - peace of mind about the care of a very vulnerable loved one. Thank you.

Bubs Job Title:Wellbeing Coordinator

I joined Advinia as a Wellbeing Coordinator because the B Happie initiative perfectly aligns with my own personal values and goals. It’s all about supporting residents to feel truly at home and to live joyful, meaningful lives while in our care.

What I love most about my role is that our residents are empowered to shape their own wellbeing journey. They choose the activities they want to take part in, which gives them a strong sense of purpose, connection, and independence. We also encourage residents to continue the hobbies they’ve always loved, ensuring that their passions remain part of their everyday life.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see our residents smiling, engaged, and immersed in the activities they enjoy — from musical sessions and creative arts projects to reminiscing over a warm drink, playing games, or singing together. We also enjoy visits from the local church, schools, and charities, which help strengthen our connection with the community.

At Cloisters, we love celebrating key calendar events, staying active with yoga, musical chair exercises, and sports days, and spending time together in our beautiful garden or over friendly chats in the Cloisters Café.

At Cloisters, B Happie isn’t just a slogan — it’s a way of life. When our residents are happy, we’re all happy together!
