Generally very happy with the service and nursing home.
Lovely to see the same faces working throughout the week.
The staff know patients and their routines.
I do feel the staff need the support of other staff members, especially on weekends.
They are thoughtful and try to rush to everyone but I
feel there should be more staff/patient ratio!

Dad has been a resident at Cloisters for over 4 years. The carers work extremely hard and have a lovely friendly approach to all residents.
It is a happy environment where everyone is treated with dignity. The manager of the Mayfair unit, has made a significant impact in the running of the unit, always
friendly and approachable she encourages relatives to get involved in all aspects of their loved ones care.
The kitchen staff are happy to receive requests from residents or their families and do their best to meet these if possible.
In the last year there has been a change in home manager which has contributed to Cloisters being a lovely nursing home, as a family we are happy that dad has been cared for by such lovely caring people.

My husband has been a resident in Cloisters since August 2014. In June 2015 he suffered a stroke and in 2016 he fractured his hip. Since that time, his condition has deteriorated and over the last year, he has been unable to talk or walk. A nurse started working at Cloisters in 2015 and I cannot stress
how much her care has made a difference to my husband. She encourages him and her understanding and empathy with him and all the residents is exceptional. She has made such a difference and her presence at Cloisters is a great asset.

In the last few weeks of my mother's life at Cloisters care home the staff were very caring and ensured she was as comfortable as possible. In her room t here were flowers, photos of family members and played relaxed music on the TV and she loved music. Sadly Mum passed away on June 20th 2016 and the
duty nurse phoned just after her passing to advise me, expressing her sympathy.

cloisters nursing home provide good care overall, any requests required for my father are undertaken quickly, efficiently and professionally. Since my dad has been admitted he has become more stable, bedsores have cleared up quickly due to management of the head nurse. Staff are friendly and always
shown care to my dad. Safety is good but the front door should be monitored when visitors come to the nursing home. My dad has settled very quickly and prefers being there than hospital. The nursing home is always clean. I feel I can trust the staff to take care of my father, which is important.

My mother came to Cloisters just over two months ago following her previous home being forced to close for poor service by CQC. At first I had high reservations due to Cloisters having an inadequate CQC score. However things seem to be moving in a positive way. The manager and martyn have filled me
with confidence that my mother will finally be looked after correctly and treated well. The staff also all seems to be very friendly and there are plenty of them.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.979)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.979) out of 10 for Cloisters Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.048 for Cloisters Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (23 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.048
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.931 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cloisters Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.431
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
