My father has been a resident of Kestrel for 15 months. We are very happy with the care he receives. Any observations we may make are addressed immediately. The staff and management really care about the residents and their families and make it a happy place to live.

I am very happy in this care home and all the staff are kind, good and lovely. I came for respite care but could happily stay here forever. I can't find fault with anything, the good is good, there is lots of entertainment and it is very well run.

Kestrel Grove is, without doubt, one of the best nursing homes in the area. My grandmother and my father were both residents and my husband has been there (with dementia) for three and a half years. It gives me great peace of mind to know that ALL the staff are so kind and caring - it is quite excellent.

My sister has been a resident of Kestrel Grove for a year now and from day one she has been cared for extremely well. Even when asked if she is still happy there will respond by saying she is " happy and contented" and considers it to be her home now.

Whenever I visit, I have always found the staff

to be both caring and attentive to the resident's needs. Every week has regular activities and entertainment
and from time to time outside excursions to different venues (Sunday lunches and canal boat trips etc) paid for by the home.

A family run business with caring staff that deserves high praise for running a care/nursing home with a homely atmosphere.

I would consider Kestrel Grove to be the benchmark for how nursing/care homes should be run.

A very friendly, homely atmosphere with exceptional care. All the staff are very attentive to my Fathers needs at all times. There are lots of activities and outings arranged for the resident and their families. The nursing care is excellent, with a very good team working round the clock. I would highly
recommend Kestrel Grove.

Since my Mother who has dementia in Alzheimers became a resident in February 2018, I cannot fault the care and attention of all the staff. A gauge of an excellent care-home is the fact that staff are working here after 20 plus years service. Everyone is working with a smile on their faces and that is
a tribute to this homes management and senior nursing staff.
I can see that my mothers daily care needs are met.

Both my parents are residents at Kestrel Grove, since they have been there my worries regarding their health and well-being have vanished. The friendly attentive staff ensure their different needs are catered for. Both my parents seem happy and well looked after. Regular entertainment and activity keeps
them occupied and this place differs from so many other care homes I had visited, in that it is not a smelly God’s waiting room, but a fresh and vibrant environment to stimulate the residents as their need require. I can only sing the praises of this place and compliment the team, and hope my children find a place of similar quality when my time comes.

My husband has been a resident at Kestrel Grove for almost six years and I cannot praise the home highly enough. The staff are kind and friendly and it feels like being with a family. The food is excellent, there are varied activities for the residents and the staff are always open to new suggestions
for suitable entertainment. The home is family run and has always shown respect and interest in everyone.

In the relatively short time, my father was at Kestrel Grove Nursing Home, he was treated with care and dignity at all times. All the staff were very attentive and could not do enough for him. My husband and I were also kept up to date with his care and we were also dealt with compassionately which
certainly helped at such a difficult time. We would not hesitate to recommend Kestrel Grove to friends and family.

It is a very good care home. There are nurses and carers to look after the residents and entertainment in the afternoons (often live music on a Wednesday). they celebrate to suit the religions of different residents e.g. Hanukkah and Christmas. The home is set in beautiful grounds with neatly tended
lawns. The residents are treated with respect. My mother speaks Hungarian and Romanian and many of the carers can speak in these languages to her. They can have meals served when they choose to have them and they can choose what to eat.

There is excellent care in this home as I can testify, as my Mum has been there for nearly 16 years and now has full dementia.
The nursing staff are highly professional and always have time to talk. There are plenty of nurses and carers who stay for long periods
(four of them have looked after my
mum over ten years) and the atmosphere is warm, pleasant and relaxed. The home is very clean and, of course, very beautiful as it is in a well preserved period building with spacious and well planted grounds. The food is jolly good and the care staff are very kind and thoughtful, especially about small details like clothes and make up. There is always something going on in the way of activities.

I would say that the high standards in this home have consistently risen during the time I have been visiting it.

Since becoming a permanent Kestrel Grove resident in March 2015, my 92 year old father has enjoyed the best quality of life he could possible have at this time. His complex meds are well managed and his condition is carefully and sensitively monitored; he is treated with respect and genuine fondness
by the excellent and caring staff (at all levels), at all times.

The high quality of the environment including the cleanliness of rooms, the beautiful grounds, the fresh linen and flowers in the dining room helps to create a sense of pride in both the staff and the residents for whom they care. Activities are varied and regular, my dad especially enjoys the chair exercises, bingo and visiting singers; and more recently a great BBQ to which he invited me as his guest!

Kestrel Grove is a family run business and many of the staff have worked here for over 5 years which I believe contributes to the consistency of care, as does the 'in-house' training (no agency staff are used). The owner, of whom the staff speak very highly, is on site during the week and is very involved with the day to day issues. Nothing is too much trouble here and every request is met with a smile - I would highly recommend this nursing home without reservation.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.446) out of 10 for Kestrel Grove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.662 for Kestrel Grove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (111 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 154 Ratings = 4.662
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.784 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kestrel Grove Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.984
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am the Home Manager at Kestrel Grove Care Home, and I consider it a privilege to lead a team dedicated to delivering exceptional, person-centred care. My career in healthcare spans most of my adult life, beginning as a registered general nurse in surgical and community settings before progressing into residential and nursing home management. Over more than a decade working within the care home sector, I have come to regard it as the most meaningful and rewarding environment in which a healthcare professional can serve—where clinical skill, human connection, and compassionate leadership converge every day.

I am deeply passionate about enriching the lives of every resident at Kestrel Grove. To me, outstanding care goes far beyond meeting physical needs; it means honouring each individual’s identity, history, and preferences, and creating a home where people feel genuinely safe, valued, and understood. I believe that a positive culture—built on respect, dignity, transparency, and kindness—is essential to achieving this.

My vision for Kestrel Grove is one of continuous improvement and collective pride. I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical governance and CQC compliance, fostering a skilled and stable workforce, and strengthening a vibrant, inclusive community where residents can thrive. Through reflective practice, strong communication, and compassionate leadership, I strive to ensure that every person in our care receives not just good care but truly exceptional care.
