I always get a friendly welcome from all staff and every staff member is able to tell me how my cousin is progressing. I have been kept up to date with everything and I know that I can trust the staff. Activities are wonderful and we have a lot of fun when relatives are invited in for events.

Lansdowne is a happy and extremely caring home from home.

When we first came across Lansdowne, we were impressed by the welcoming mangement and lovely staff team; and for the first couple of months, we were happy with the care my mother received. Sadly, however, the ownership/management changed and, with it, the attitude towards the care of the residents.

Its not often a care home evicts a resident because a relative has raised concerns about the care on offer. But that is just what happened to my very elderly, very frail mum. This care home, promoting itself as specialist in dementia and nursing, evicted her while she was in hospital, leaving her nowhere to go, and extending her hospital stay by two weeks while we found a more welcoming care home, where she is now being well-cared for.

The staff team are (mostly) still lovely; but this new management have made it difficult for anyone to raise concerns about the care their relatives receive, without risk of eviction, and are slowly eroding everything that made Lansdowne the place it was.

This is a difficult review to write. In the beginning, the care at Lansdowne was very good. However, since the home changed ownership and the care home manager changed, standards declined rapidly. The majority of nurses and carers truly cared about the residents but there were problems with some of the staff, and the way in which emergencies were dealt with, especially at night. Quite often, my friend was left in her room alone, even during activity time. Also, the food was not very good, sometimes just a sandwich for main meal. These issues were raised with the management team; and while an effort was made to improve matters, many troubling issues still remained. When our concerns were not fully resolved, the management solution was to evict a frail, vulnerable 96-year-old, arguing that they could not meet high expectations, despite promoting themselves as specialists in nursing care and complex dementia. I am sad to see such a decline at Lansdowne, and take no joy in posting this.

Overall I am very happy with Lansdowne care home. My mum and stepdad are clearly happy there. They recognise and like the staff. The staff are caring, kind and friendly with them. They often have a joke with them. I think that my parents' quality of life is much better now that they are at Lansdowne.

I would like the staff to keep a closer eye on my stepdad's hygiene with his feet. He has fungal growths on his toenails and the chiropodist does not appear to have done anything about this despite seeing my stepdad 3 times apparently.

The staff have been very welcoming and kind to me and my brother. They are supportive, always listen to us and comfort us when we are upset. They are a great bunch of people!

Generally all the staff - carers, activity, nurses - have been excellent. It's a busy home, but they have helped us manage our parents needs, hospital appointments, some mobility work with my mum, and all other aspects of care (they both have suspected dementia). Honestly I'm quite happy that my folks are here, and I'm hoping that things are just as smooth again in 2026.

I have visited the home three times. I am impressed by the number of carers who are constantly around, and the fact that, with an open door policy, they can keep an eye on the residents 24/7. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and lacking any bad smell. I appreciate the extra security introduced by the computerised entry and exit system, but it is also nice to have a person greeting you every time you come in, and someone wishing you well when you depart.

I am continually impressed with the whole experience whenever I visit the home. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. The home itself is clean, fresh and very well maintained. I cannot praise all the members of staff highly enough for the care, kindness and respect that they show to my friend. I was able to witness this at first-hand whilst I was giving my friend her lunch so I could see how kindly they encouraged the other residents to try to eat, without being overbearing and taking into account their feelings. The staff whom I regularly meet are a pleasure to chat too and they are fully aware of the changing needs and emotions of my friend. Thank you to everyone involved in her care.

My friend has been a resident of Lansdowne for about 15 months. I have visited her on several occasions and have been impressed by the excellent care she receives. Her health has stabilised since she has been living here. So is good to see her settled and happy especially today on her 80th birthday.

Not being able to continue looking after our mother at home, it is of great comfort to me to know how well she is being looked after at Lansdowne. Her physical health has improved and she looks healthy again. The staff are professional and caring, and I can not speak highly enough of what I see when I am visiting.

The staff are wonderfully cheerful and very caring to the patients. The staff ensure all the patients' needs are cared for with a smile. The staff are very patient with the patients. The staff also ensure patients like my mother are involved in activities so they don't just sit in their rooms, enabling them to make friends and prevent loneliness.

My sister became a resident recently and was made very welcome by all the staff. Her room was freshly decorated with colours that my sister chose, a handyman is always on hand to personalise the room, hang photos, fit shelves where wanted etc.
Although the staff are very busy, they always take care of my sister's needs, physical and medical, to the point where she was accompanied to an outside medical appointment.
All in all, I am very pleased.

Thank you.
