Nairn House is a purpose-built home in Enfield that warmly welcomes people with a range of residential and nursing care needs, including palliative and Parkinson's care.

They’re there when you and your loved ones need them most. For planned respite or last-minute trips. A safe space to recover after an operation. To experience what their home’s like before moving long-term. To just relax. Whatever the reason, their doors are open.

Nairn House is set within pleasant grounds and situated close to local amenities such as shops and a bus route. Accommodation features furnished en suite bedrooms with views of the gardens and each room has a 24-hour call system.

Meals are varied to suit individual tastes and diet and prepared daily by the in-house chef. They also talk to each resident about their likes, dislikes and any special dietary needs when they move in. That way, their food is cooked just right. A Night Bite menu is also available for out of hours snacks and refreshments.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Dedicated activity coordinators help ensure residents are able to pursue their hobbies and interests, as well as organising a range of activities which include bingo, quizzes, flower arranging and music sessions, there is so much for residents to enjoy. Regular trips to the seaside are also enjoyed as are shopping trips and themed monthly events.

My mum was placed in Nairn House Care Home late 2023. From the start, communication was bad, I don't know whether it was due to staff shortages or the ones that were there were overworked. It was constant going and knocking on the door, trying to get someone to come to see Mum or to get information
from them. On changeover of staff, they seem not to have any information. Mum got bed sores and no one noticed. Most of the staff were lovely. The home was kept clean and tidy.

My sister found it very difficult at first, just wanting to go home. I found the staff to be unfailingly kind and patient and she is gradually settling. I love the way I can pop in to see her whenever I have time and am always made to feel welcome. Her room is bright and pleasant and the whole place
seems very clean. The activities provided are very important to give stimulation and interest to a long day. My sister is encouraged to take part and socialise a bit. She is infirm so I wonder if some physio could be provided to help her muscle tone. She enjoys all her food which is appetising and well presented.

Big letdowns are the rooms. Heating was at best erratic. Mum's window didn't shut, terrible draught, needs replacing. Ensuites are much to too small, not enough space for an elderly person capable of washing herself. The building badly needs refurbishment.
Big plus, the staff, well trained, polite

My brother, who has had a life-changing stroke, has been at Nairn House since June. The staff are exceptional. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble and the nursing on the first floor is second to none. The patience and kindness they show to my brother is excellent. All of the staff smile and say hello
and the ladies on reception always greet you with a broad smile. As I live abroad, my brother's daily care is paramount to me, but on a recent visit I know I needn't worry and that he is in good hands. The home itself is very welcoming and spotlessly clean. It also has a small garden where the residents can sit. Overall, I am extremely content for my brother.

My mother has recently been admitted to Nairn House and I am so pleased with the encouragement that she has received since joining. The activities organised at the home, led by one staff member, have been excellent. The details and decorations match the activities and a lot of thought and effort has
been put in place to issue their success. The room is bright and welcoming and I have seen the enjoyment that the residents get from numerous and varied weekly events, including outside schools, guests, performances and group activities. There are at least three to four events/performances/activities per week and they stimulate the participants at all levels, due to the careful and imaginative creation, organisation and planning by staff. My mum was resident here for 3 and a half years. During that time, she was very happy. There were a few small issues over time that were ironed out. Mum loved the activities that one staff member provided and she showed great patience and humility to Mum. However, it's the last few weeks that I'm particularly
writing about. Mum was receiving palliative care and I spent a lot of time there during this time. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the care and attention they showed, not only to Mum, but to us as a family. One other staff member was always available to talk to and the reception team, nurses, carers and cleaning team, were courteous, respectful and nothing was too much trouble. The love we felt from everyone, towards Mum was outstanding and it made a sad and intense time much more bearable. It was spotlessly clean too. Nairn House has had some huge challenges to overcome but surely the most important thing is the residents' care and safety and that is something that is seemingly uncompromised.

I found all the staff at the reception desk very helpful. The staff on the first and second floors are very pleasant and helpful. I think they should get a hairdresser in as some need haircuts.

I am impressed by the staff as they are always friendly and helpful. I appreciate this as I find it difficult at the moment given my father's health. The care home could be improved with better grounds maintenance as the residents would benefit from spending time in the garden. More activities and encouragement
from staff would be great.

Always met by a cheerful young lady in reception. All staff were cheerful and helpful. My brother-in-law is always pleased to see any of the staff when they come into his room. Although he doesn't understand what is happening to him, he always seems entertained. His nurse is always very helpful and
