Funding & Fees What's included?

Fees listed are without FUNDED NURSING CARE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE NHS
If your admission to the care home is assessed as requiring nursing care, you may be entitled to funding by the NHS. This is called NHS Funded Nursing Care Contribution (FNC) and is a contribution made by the NHS towards supporting the provision of registered nursing care to eligible care home residents. The payment is made directly by the NHS to the care home where the nursing care is being provided, and the Resident does not receive any money directly.
If the responsible CCG has assessed that the Resident is eligible for FNC, any payments received will be deducted from the Total Fees. The Resident will, however, remain liable for the Total Fees if FNC funding is withdrawn or if the CCG defaults on payment.

Coloma continues to provide a high standard of care and any day-to-day problems are dealt with immediately.
During the last year there have been notable improvements in communication with relatives via the video call meetings, entertainment, menus and how meals are served in the dining rooms.
Seeing
management out and about on the floors has the benefit of them seeing what actually goes on. I also appreciate how much time they spend on staffing to select and train new recruits, it definitely pays off.
Congratulations to all the staff on their hard work to maintain these standards.

Mum was a resident at Coloma for nearly two years and was very happy there. Mum especially loved the variety and quality of the food; the activities and all the friendly residents and staff.
Her care was exemplary during her time there.
Reply from Natasha Leslie, Registered Manager at Coloma CourtThank you your mum is missed by residents and staff in the home, I will pass on your comments to staff in the home, thank you for the review.

We were very impressed with the care that the team at Coloma Court provided for Dad during his entire stay, particularly over the last few months of his life. Every member of the team treated him with care and compassion and made him as comfortable as possible, and I know they took a personal interest
in Dad's well-being, as shown by the many personal messages we have received from staff since Dad passed away. The level of care he received in the last few weeks of his life was exemplary and ensured that he remained comfortable and peaceful. Coloma also kept my brother and I fully involved in the process, which has been a real help as we process the inevitable grief that follows Dad's passing. I can't thank the team enough for their support.
Reply from Natasha Leslie, Registered Manager at Coloma CourtThank you so much for your kind words; we ensure we take an interest in the care, treatment and well-being of all of our residents and support family members or representatives. We will continue to provide support to you and your family if required in your time of sadness.

My wife has been in the home for over seven years. She is happy in what is a family environment. During the period of review every opportunity has been taken to enhance and improve the overall home with respect to care, support staff, facilities, food, management, safety, activities, etc. Management
have been vigilant and hands on where necessary to enhance the smooth operation. Meetings with residents and relatives are held regularly. The structure, format, speedy response and communication have been excellent. The PCS system is fully operational with residents and relatives being able to access and monitor the daily care. There has been excellent input from the management team over the past year, which added to the overall performance of the home. Training is a constant process which has yielded excellent results. I have no hesitation in recommending Coloma Court to anyone who would eventually require a care home.
Reply from Natasha Leslie, Registered Manager at Coloma CourtThank you very much for your outstanding review, The team at Coloma Court strive to provide outstanding care and treatment to the residents but also support relatives and representatives, this review will be fed back to the staff in the home during our staff appreciation week. The telephone and email assistance was prompt and informative. My father's assessment which happened at the hospital was swift, caring, intelligent and kind by the colleague who carried it out. So much was made easy for us and priority always felt like it was my father. The medical care was excellent
and the staff that I met were informed and friendly.

I found my brother to be well cared for, looking clean and tidy. From discussions with the staff, they know him well and have a good rapport even though he can be stubborn at times! It is clear not only from this visit but previous visits that he is well looked after and does not want for anything.
It is comforting to know he is receiving excellent care and is in good hands. Thank you.

My mother, on the whole, has been very happy and very well looked after in the ten years she has been at Coloma Court Care Home. The bathroom is always immaculate and the water is lovely and hot. Food has varied over the years but on the whole good. We are happy she has been so beautifully looked after.
Thank you.

Mum has been a resident for much longer than most of those who enter a nursing home. She has been very well cared for. The accommodation is first-class, food good and entertainment available for those who wish to participate. In terms of nursing, she has all her requirements met in a caring and professional
manner. My only slight issue has been with communication about her care and lack of information unless requested.

My mother receives excellent care from the staff. Although she has dementia they have established a rapport with her and she is comfortable and settled in the ward in which she resides. I have found management and staff to be extremely helpful on any occasion when I have needed information or advice.
Also proactive in addressing her needs both personal and medical.

My 94-year-old mother has been a resident for seven months. She has advanced Alzheimer's and uses a wheelchair.
We chose the home because it was bright and airy, spotlessly clean, spacious rooms, communal eating and evidence of very personal interactions between staff and residents. It has a lovely
outdoor vista onto open fields and its own lovely accessible garden. It also has a Christian ethos which was important to the family, although every resident regardless of faith or none is treated with the same considered care and respect.
It isn't easy to decide your loved one should be cared for and I found the staff cared for my well-being, as well as my mother's. When you are at Coloma you get an extended family. The staff have always shown kindness and flexibility in my mother's care, even when challenging, and communication has been excellent, we have worked together to find solutions.
I never expected to find a home that I felt was good enough for my mum, in Coloma I have.

I have not been able to visit my mother since March 2020, it is, therefore, difficult to provide meaningful assessments for the criteria provided. I have rated all categories as good, based on previous experience.
Communications during lockdown have been good.
I have expressed some concern to Management
that pressure from some families has led to several well-meaning attempts to reinstate visiting. I take the view that whilst I would like to start visiting again, my mothers, my families and the Coloma staff health is the priority and foregoing visits for a little longer is a small price to pay to achieve that.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.818)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.818) out of 10 for Coloma Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.868 for Coloma Court is calculated as follows: ( (188 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 212 Ratings = 4.868
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Coloma Court is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Marie. I am the Home Manager at Coloma Court Care Home.

I am an experienced, supportive, caring, and efficient leader with over 20 years of experience in the Health and Social Care sector and over 10 years in a management position.

I have worked in various Leadership and Management positions within the healthcare sector, with extensive experience working in partnership with external stakeholders and managing large teams.

I have love and passion for leading a team and being supportive of my colleagues as well as the residents and their families. I have worked with several client groups and their needs include people with Complex Physical and Emotional needs, Mental Health needs, and Behaviours that challenge Epilepsy and Dementia. The skills and competence obtained from studying for a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care have enabled me to successfully plan, lead and implement change within a healthcare setting.

I have a strong work ethic, and I am proud to work in the care sector, which has been recognised by NHS England and CQC, who complimented me on my leadership style, determination, and commitment to implement change, working as one team. I always put people first, show kindness and still have the energy to love life and make it meaningful for myself and those in my care.

In my spare time, I train to run half marathons and raise money for local charities. I have a keen interest in current Care Standards, legislation and Innovation, which includes– Person-centred Assessment and Care Planning, staff and carers training and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS), and designing and implementing Best Practice Guidelines for Older People and People who live with Dementia.
