Reviews

8.6 Woodland Hall has a Review Score of 8.6 (8.550)

The Review Score of 8.6 (maximum of 10) for Woodland Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Woodland Hall in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.203 for Woodland Hall is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.203

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.347 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodland Hall is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 14.4 positive Reviews (72 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 14.4 Target = 0.347

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My wife has been a permanent resident for three years. During this time I have been confident that she has been well looked after, both personally and medically. I have been kept informed of any changes in her condition and been able to discuss and agree to the action being taken.
The staff are friendly and have a close, kindly relationship with the residents. The home is well maintained, providing a comfortable environment.

Facilities are good for dementia patients, with small friendly lounges, ready access to toilets nearby and easy access to gardens and courtyard.
Staff are friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. Good to see regular staff faces who know who you are. My mother presently sleeps poorly at night and this is getting good attention to resolve.

Every time I visit my mother, the staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional - from the carers, chef, nurse, activities staff, management and reception staff. Communication - mostly by email to the care home is answered promptly and efficiently - communication from nursing staff and carers to the family is prompt and informative also. I would thoroughly recommend the home and so does my mother!

Since leaving admitted to Woodland Hall in 2013, my wife has received excellent and compassionate professional care from the staff. I have always been kept informed of her condition and also have a good relationship with the staff.
One criticism; recently the management have decided to move staff to alternative wings. The has resulted in some long term nurses and carers becoming dissatisfied as they have built up a warm, compassionate affiliation with the residents in their care.

Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Woodland Hall responded to this review on 18 May 2017:

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, and for your lovely comments and scores for Woodland Hall – I’m incredibly happy to hear your kind words. In regards to the care team moving to different suites in the home, as you may know, we’ve had lots of positive changes in the home in recent months, including the opening of our newly optimised suites and the recruitment of new colleagues. In order to ensure we have a good mix of experienced team members on hand alongside newer colleagues so they can learn procedures and get to know residents, we have rotated some nurses and carers across two suites. You should, of course, continue to see the team members you already know well around the home supporting newer colleagues, and we hope that, once everyone is fully inducted, that team members will be assigned more permanently to specific suites as before. Of course, all our team members are highly knowledgeable and experienced, but we do realise that it is beneficial to residents to have continuity of carers and nurses with whom they build strong relationships, and this is what we endeavour to provide. Thank you for bearing with us during this busy and exciting time for Woodland Hall, and please do let any of the senior team in the home know if you have any further comments or suggestions now or in the future.
