Both my parents have lived at Park House for the last five years or so and, following Dad's death in November last year, my mum continues to live there. The care both my parents have received and continue to receive has been exemplary throughout. The manager and staff there do all they can to help
in all ways they can and especially to Mum since Dad passed away. Both my parents felt and feel safe and cared for at all times and I can't praise Park House enough for their care and thoughtfulness throughout.
Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeThank you for such a lovely review. We have loved looking after your parents - they have become part of our family as have you and the rest of your family. Dad was in Park House for just 10 weeks, but in that time he built a firm bond with the carers. They were always on hand to give him hugs when he needed them. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone from the owner and manager to the cleaning and catering staff did their utmost to ensure dad had what
he needed. Everyone is very friendly and always had time to chat to us when we visited; the nursing staff were always on hand to speak to if we had a query.
Meals were adapted to suit Dad's appetite.
The home is kept very clean and although Dad wasn't able move from his bed, I noticed that the residents in the lounge always appeared to be happy and engaged.
There is a lovely little garden area with chickens for the residents and families to sit in if they desire.
At the end I couldn't have felt more supported; the nursing staff and carers gave me the time I needed with dad but they were on hand as soon as I needed them, treating me with care and compassion.
Reply from Donna Aldred, Manager at Park House Care HomeThank you for those kind words. Everyone at Park House hopes they welcome all into our family however long they decide to stay with us.

We were very pleased with the outstanding care our relative received at Park House Care Centre. He was transferred there from hospital for a end of life NHS care package. Although very ill he was always given personalised care. All the needs were met and all the clinicians gave him the best possible
care. When we visited the centre it was always clean and our relative was always very clean and fresh. We were regularly updated on his condition and informed of any changes. We could not have wished for a better care centre of we have made the choice ourselves. We cannot thank you enough for everything you did for him.
Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeWe appreciate the excellent feedback you have provided on all aspects of your relative's care whilst with us. It means a lot to all of us, especially our care staff who spent more time with him than anyone else. We thank you sincerely for taking the time to complete such a positive review.

For ten days my mother was there I cannot fault the care she was given. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The kitchen staff were always happy to do an alternative. Her room was bright and clean with plenty of space. The grandchildren were made welcome and shown the chickens and grounds.

Overall, extremely pleased with our mother's care at Park House, especially as we, her family, can confirm she was not the easiest person to get on with; extremely fussy and independent, and ensured everyone knew she was around, but not easy to live with either due to her bossiness! (We would have liked
for her to have been persuaded to get out of bed, but knew she was in extreme pain, did not like the hoist, and she would scream, so not the staff's fault! Even if she could have sat on the edge of the bed, that would maybe have helped her mobility, but we understand her reluctance and would not blame the staff at all), so thanks for all that you did while she was with you; much appreciated.
Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeWe very much appreciate the feedback. Thank you for your positive comments. The hoist can be an issue for some, and not everyone takes to having to be hoisted, but it is the only safe way to transfer people. We liked your mum for her personality, and it was a pleasure to have looked after her.

Very well run with good staffing levels, nice rooms and excellent care - small enough to have a really personal touch but large enough to have good facilities and lots of expertise. Above all, however, the staff were so caring, loving and attentive - they cannot be faulted. In the time that Mum was
a resident, we always knew that she was safe, well cared for, and happy. The staff would chat to her, sing with her, hug her and laugh with her. What more could you ask for? Thank you, Park House Nursing Care Centre and your amazing staff for looking after Mum so well.
Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeThank you for your very generous feedback about our service. Park House is a very well run home, the rooms are good sizes and have a very homely feeling. Dad was in there for 6 months and the care he received was outstanding. The staff are friendly and will always help in any way they can. Staff keep the rooms and other areas very clean and there is always a
pleasant smell as you enter.

The manager was always there to talk to if we had questions and the nursing staff made sure dad was always comfortable. I cannot thank them enough for the level of care dad received, he was very happy there. I am so glad we have good memories of his last months. Thank you all.

Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeThank you very much for your lovely review. We are so pleased to hear that you were satisfied with the care your father received. The home always smelt clean and was tidy with nice facilities. Individual rooms were clean, spacious and laundry was efficient. Staff friendly and appear to be well trained. Adequate numbers on duty at every visit, no obvious time pressure. I have visited to see a staff member reading the newspaper
to my Mother. Local medical team available. Food is cooked on-site and was well presented and varied. It always smelt and looked appetising. Staff monitor and record what is consumed. Off menu meals prepared as needed to encourage residents to eat. Drinks and snacks are available all day. General atmosphere is very happy. It did not feel institutional. My mother who always had pets liked the home's dog and hens. Management is available to staff, residents and family over the phone and face to face to discuss care issues. My Mother did not want to go into a home but reported that the home was nice and the staff were pleasant. Well worth checking out. I have no concerns with CQC rating.

Park House was a very calm, friendly place for my husband to be in his last months. He was cared for with love, dignity and compassion. He made some lovely friends of staff and residents. Activities were stimulating and varied and as a relative I was treated politely, we both felt part of a family.
The bedding maybe could be replaced but everything else was truly amazing. I was informed of all that I needed to be regarding my husband.

I want to say a huge thank you to the owner, manager and all the staff for the care and support that was given to my Mum and the whole family. Mum spent 5 years at Park House where there was always a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. I always felt welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Mum enjoyed
watching the activities, even though she was unable to participate, celebrating birthdays and Christmas with everyone. Over the last few months of Mum's time at Park House, her care was the same high standard as always and her dignity was maintained to the end. While circumstances were difficult, due to COVID-19, I was consulted at every point with Mum's end of life care and although I was not able to be with her as much as I would have liked, I knew she was being looked after by the caring, compassionate staff, at all times. Park House has been a big part of my life and I shall miss all the residence and staff. Thank you so much for all that you have done for us.

Park House was my parents final, and fourth home - importantly, they regarded it as home, and we're happy. The staff were kind, caring and thoughtful, and always went the extra mile to ensure their happiness and comfort. They became an extended family and were loved by Mum and Dad. It was a comfort
to me, knowing they were always in good hands, and I am eternally grateful for the care they received. I cannot thank them enough.
Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeThank you for taking the time and trouble to give us some feedback on the experience your mum and dad had of living at Park House. It was a pleasure to have had them with us as they both contributed to the life of the home. Your father was always a great inspiration to us and many of our staff enjoyed spending time with him. It is good to know that they considered the staff part of their extended family as that is hopefully the feeling we try to create for everyone. I am glad that you felt assured and comforted to know they were well cared for. Thank you again for your positive comments which we really appreciate.

Park House is a friendly and homely care home. Mum has always been looked after and cared for very well. She was always treated with respect and dignity. Staff were always helpful and polite. Nursing care was very good. We believed Mum always felt at home and safe in this environment. My only criticism
would be perhaps slight issues with staffing levels at weekends. This sometimes led to Mum not being washed or dressed before late morning.
Reply from John Tillisch, Proprietor at Park House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to send in a review of Park House. It was nice to read that you considered that the home is friendly and homely as we do try to make it such. And also that you considered your mother to have been very well cared for. We do take on board your comments concerning staffing levels at weekends and we have tried to address this in the recent past by recruiting extra staff. We appreciate your feedback as it is important to us. Thank you!

I visited my friend many times from January until the middle of March and always found her very well looked after. Everywhere was nice and clean, the staff were always very friendly and helpful. It was always nice to be offered a cup of tea and cake! As I am not able to visit my friend at the moment
I do speak to her on a regular basis and always find her quite content to be where she is. The atmosphere in the home is good, everyone speaks to the visitors which is nice and I am looking forward to when the restrictions are lifted and I can visit my friend again. Thank you for taking good care of her.

Park House looked after our mother wonderfully well during her 13 months' residence. All the staff showed very high levels of compassion and competence. I particularly liked the fact that staff do not wear uniforms to engender a sense of family between staff and residents. Mum was genuinely happy at
Park House and I could not fault it. During the COVID-19 crisis of 2020, their procedures kept the virus out of the home and it was a great relief that mum passed away peacefully, in her own bed, merely of old age. The care home is exceptionally well run and is owned by a gentleman who truly cares - there is an ongoing programme of investment in the building and facilities.

My partner went into care in March 2010 and died on 26 March 2017 with Altzheimer's. From the day he went into the home, he was loved and cared for, so he was very happy there and whatever he asked for, if it was possible for them, he had it.

They did all they could with true happiness for him and

the home and to the very last week he was very well cared for, as well as my family and his.

Park House made my stepdad feel loved and cared for, for the 7 years he was with them. He was very happy being there. Our relative chose to go into Park House and was very happy, saying "this is my home". She was there for just over 7 and a half years. As dementia took over, she could be very difficult at times but was always treated with great kindness and respect by all the staff. I never once heard anyone raise
their voice to her.
She was treated as an individual and the staff went out of their way to try and find out things that she liked and to make sure she was happy. Everyone knew her well, from the ladies in the kitchen to the manager and the owner and all would pop their head around the door to see if she was alright and have a quick chat - a real "home from home". Although everything possible was done to prevent falls, my relative's health problems meant she was more susceptible than many. If one happened, or she was unwell, I was always contacted and told how she was. When she died in December 2016 in Park House, it was very peaceful and a senior nurse was with her.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.477)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.477) out of 10 for Park House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.877 for Park House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.877
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park House Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
