Mum is very well cared for - the home is warm and clean - the staff are wonderful and treat Mum with respect. They have got to know her preferences despite communication issues due to dementia and she is clearly settled and happy after a move from a larger and less personal home. Thank you.

The quality of care provided for my mum is excellent,
The cleanliness and safety of the home is very good for all the residents, The common areas are free from clutter and well-maintained.
The staff's attitude towards my mum goes above and beyond.

Plenty of social activities, and emotional support. Mum is encouraged to participate in activities. Staff members are well trained with a positive attitude.

Whenever visiting Northcourt Lodge all residents are treated with dignity and seem to know the staff well. The home is clean and well-maintained. There are regular staff and agency staff are not used whenever possible. Dad moved from another care home in the area and there is a marked improvement in the care he receives at Northcourt Lodge. I would recommend this care home, as a smaller home the care is much more personalised.

Staff at the home are always very welcoming even in these trying times. My mother appears to be very happy now that she has settled in. There are a lot of good activities going on during the week and hopefully, once the restrictions are lifted, organised local visits will be able to take place once more.

Review from Nahida G (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 June 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
The main reason for selecting this care home is due to its size. I feel that it is small and the residents are well known to the staff and so can get that personal touch of care. When I raise a query it is dealt with immediately and my compliments to the management.

The only thing I would say needs attention is the furnishing as these are now dated and are showing their use and age, particularly in the bedroom.

When I came for 1st viewing, I brought the husband of the potential resident to live in Northcourt Lodge. Residents and staff were all smiling, chatty and happy and gave us a very warm welcome. The resident moved in May 2019 and all the residents gave the warmest welcome and the staff were fantastic. The new resident started her new life and hasn't looked back! Love my visits to the home.

Northcourt Lodge is an excellent example of nursing home care. My Aunt has resided there now for almost five years and I have never had any occasion to complain or not be happy with her care. Whenever I arrive to visit with my husband, we are always greeted with a smile on the door, being opened for us and a friendly 'hello, nice to see you'. Any questions we have are always dealt with by either the staff or management, whichever is appropriate at the time.

My mother is happy, well looked after and eating well. There is only one less positive comment - The staff don't seem to notice when my mum can't hear or when her hearing aid batteries need replacing. I feel that it is extremely important that Mum can communicate as much as possible so could a quick check that she is hearing properly become part of her daily routine, please?

Reply from Jan Edmonds, Executive at Northcourt Lodge Nursing Home

Thank you for letting us know about this. Your feedback helps us get better. We are looking into this issue and hope to resolve it promptly and accurately. We are now initiating a new process where we record when hearing aid batteries are changed which will ensure regular checks for all users.
