Parkside Care Home

Most of the staff were considerate and friendly, we found the weekend staff to be not as competent and less staff seemed to be available at weekends. The gardens are lovely, my Dad enjoyed walking and sitting in the peaceful spaces. The visiting restrictions made it awkward for our family to visit my Dad as we would have liked. My Dad really enjoyed the food at Parkside. The manager really went out of her way to make sure my Dad was ok and she organised a fantastic trip for him which he loved. The staff that was on when my Dad passed away were sympathetic and kind. They looked after my sister.

My aunt is very well looked after. Visiting her is always a pleasure. The staff are helpful and kind. The home is undergoing renovation and looks homely and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it.

We first used Parkside for respite care for my Mum. During our initial visit, we were greeted by kind and caring staff who explained exactly how my Mum would be cared for. When we left after that first visit, we knew that Mum would be cared for just as well as she was at home, and loved almost as much too, and when the time came for Mum to be a permanent resident at Parkside, my brother and I were at peace with what had to be. Mum is now settled and happy at Parkside. She is beginning to take part in a variety of activities (Bingo, flower arranging, sit and chat over chocs and tea, etc). Parkside is a modern and clean environment and the staff are supportive of both my Mum and my family. We are kept abreast of any developments in Mum's health and welfare and telephoned on a regular basis to check whether we have any concerns about her care. When we leave after each visit, I know that Mum is safe, happy, and well cared for.

I became a respite care resident for 3 weeks, so, therefore, I've been "on the inside" and can see both sides. It was a real eye-opener. Just how really hard the devoted care staff work, and how they have to juggle the job of feeding those who cannot feed themselves and take meals to those who can. Not once was there a raised voice. All carers spoke lovingly to those in their care, with a smile on their face and a smile in their voice. And the food was excellent. Beautifully cooked and well presented on the plate to the residents who could eat by themselves. No shortage of food or drinks. Even wine at dinner time if you wanted it. All staff, despite the pressure on their working time, seemed to enjoy their work and would often go out of their way to ensure that anyone in their care if they felt under the weather or seemed down, they made an extra effort. I was so well looked after with care and food, it almost felt like a hotel. A great big thank you to you all.

Everyone has been very good, I can't fault it. I'm very happy.

I'm quite happy here at Parkside Care Home, everyone is nice to me. I feel at home, I enjoy the food and activities. I would recommend the home.

As a family, we are extremely impressed with the way the home is run and the level and frequency of communication received regarding my Father. In October my Father managed to fall and break his hip, the speed and efficiency with which the staff dealt with the situation and got him to hospital was very impressive.

Mum unexpectedly went into Parkside Care Home during the lockdown, at first we thought she would be a short stay visitor, but on realisation that she was bed-bound, she will be staying a lot longer. The staff have been very friendly and helpful and I can't thank them enough. Mum has a lovely room and is surrounded by reminders of her own family, and now extended family of all at Parkside Care Home.

Parkside has cared for my mother with advanced Alzheimer's since 2012. She has been looked after so well. All the staff are wonderful with her. The home is a pleasure to visit. There are lots of activities regularly. We are always regularly informed of any issues and prompt attention saved her life recently ensuring she received full medical attention. We can sleep at night knowing she is in a calm, safe and caring home.

Friendly people who worked at this home and very helpful. Looks clean and fresh; it looks like a hotel in the dining area. It's so nice to visit inside the home, and it certainly has a good feel to it.

When visiting my Mum, I have found the care staff to be very helpful and friendly. When performing the Covid test essential for my visit, the staff explained the procedure and care is taken to make sure that I am put at ease. Although it has been a difficult time with limited visits and Covid, I have found the staff to be kind and friendly.

The communications are good and the manager and her staff are helpful. The care team do a good job in difficult circumstances.

Excellent nurses and carers. Feel safe. People here helpful and caring. Food and cakes are very delicious. Excellent activities. Clean and homely environment.

My friend was unfortunately diagnosed with a terminal illness and came to Parkside for Palliative care. He was admitted during lockdown and sadly we have been unable to visit him in the home. The staff have been excellent in arranging garden and window visits. He has no family but a large group of very close friends who have a window visit on a weekly basis and the home have been very accommodating. Their communication is excellent, they always ring if they have any queries or to let me know of any changes in his condition. It's hard not being able to 'pop' in and telephone calls with him are no longer possible due to his condition but the staff are always cheerful and very helpful whenever you ring for an update. I would definitely recommend Parkside to anyone looking for a care home and their treatment of their residents during these unprecedented times is remarkable. Keep up the good work.

Mum's needs are met and, we as a family, have the peace of mind she is in an excellent care home.

The care home has managed and adapted well in response to Covid-19 and have kept us well informed of processes.

Mum has made friends and looks forward to going to the dining room for dinner, taking care of her appearance. She has enjoyed having her hair and nails done regularly. Mum enjoys discussions with the other residents and staff. Nothing is too much trouble for the excellent staff.

My mother has only been here for a short time but all the communication so far has been so positive and warm. When I phone and speak to staff, they know who I am without me even saying. Due to Covid-19, I have not been allowed into the home yet but my experience so far fills me with confidence for when I am able to visit.

A very well run care home facility.

I was happy with the care that my mother received whilst staying at Parkside Care Home. There were always varying activities going on at different times, and also there were visits from various groups.
