We are so grateful to Lynwood Care Home for the excellent care that our Mother Gillian received during her period of respite for 4 weeks. From the moment Gillian arrived , she was treated with kindness , dignity and genuine compassion.
All of the staff were caring , attentive and patient , and they really took time to make sure Gillian felt comfortable , and safe. It was particularly reassuring for myself as I was away on holiday during the first 2 weeks of her respite.
The standard of care was excellent , all of the nurses and carers ensured that Gillians stay was a positive and comfortable experience . We really appreciated the warmth that was shown towards her.
I would highly recommend this care home to other families looking for excellent respite care.

Sylvia, my wife spent 2 weeks respite care at Lynwood Care Centre. During that time she found the staff courteous, attentive, helpful and friendly. They always managed to meet her specific requirements particular to her varying care needs. Additionally Sylvia found the inhouse physiotherapy team to be highly professional and proficient. This was both in the gym and in the operational hydrotherapy pool. As a result of Sylvia's experience we are now planning her next stay at Lynwood Care Centre.

My wife Lorena has been resident in Lynwood for more than 3 years (since December 2022). I chose Lynwood based on previous knowledge and experience of a friend. A particular benefit to her has been the in-house physiotherapy and the entertainments. The building is light and bright with an open aspect and the garden area is a great pleasure as are other shared space. In our experience the management team has been responsive to any concerns and the care staff have given Lorena loving care and treat me as a friend.

Sadly, my brother developed Alzheimer's in 2021 & he was fortunate enough to be taken to Lynwood Care Centre & I have such experience of this illness and the challenges it presents & I live in Portugal and visit as often as possible & I can honestly say that I have never seen such a high level of care and compassion & my brother is respected and kept clean and as active as possible. In respect of staffing, I believe that your observation may simply be down to not fully understanding our staffing model and so I will explain briefly here. At Lynwood Care Centre we operate small 'households' where individuals with similar needs and dependencies live together and are cared for by a dedicated team. The number of staff deployed in each 'household' will vary at any given time, depending on the needs and core dependencies of the residents in our care. At no time are we understaffed. Lynwood's care for Mum was always good. The staff dealt with Mum's care in a professional manner. They showed her respect and love. They met her physical needs and within the time allowed to them, also her mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Some of the long-term staff became her 'friends and...
My only criticism of Lynwood is the admin. At times the admin at Lynwood was rather chaotic, leading to confusion and requiring us to expend too much time chasing and checking bills etc.

I know people move about and lose their blankets but regular checking would avoid embarrassment for visitors and residents.

I have found the staff and managers at Lynnwood to be very caring and extremely professional. My mum has been there since it was opened many years ago and considers it her home and is very happy there. She wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

Lynwood is a great environment for delivering care. What I like about it is how it’s structured into units, or as we call them ‘houses’, of 15 people. To me, it’s the ideal environment to enable us to care for people in a person-centred way and it’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work for Lynwood. Another thing that attracted me to Lynwood is the Best Lives Model of Care, which allows nursing staff plenty of time with residents, so we can use our clinical skills to the fullest extent. It means we have enough time to spend with each resident to ensure they are well cared for and that their needs are being met.
“I also like the fact that Ben is a charity because I know that we’re focused on delivering good care rather than on making money. The staff here are passionate about care and they have really good relationships with the residents in each house.
“Another thing I like about Lynwood is the space. It looks big when you first get here – it is a big building - but I like the fact that there is enough space to do activities, meet with families and visitors as well as provide care. It’s also a very homely environment. When you walk into each house, it’s very relaxed, everyone’s happy, it really is home from home. Residents tell me that they feel at home here and that they feel safe, which is exactly what you want people to feel when they are living in a care home.

I have worked at Lynwood since 2003, I joined initially as part of the care team, supporting our residents and relatives on a day-to-day basis and I was promoted to a house leader in 2015, in this role I managed a residential dementia house and it was my responsibility to ensure that a person-centred approach to dementia care was provided.
In 2021 I joined the management team in my current role of Head of Person Centred Care. Working alongside the Head of Clinical Care, I manage Dove, Kingfisher, Nightingale and Heron Houses, I support the residents and relatives to ensure our residents can live their best lives whilst in our care, whilst also ensuring that our staff team are supported in their role.
The care home lists weekly fees per person of £1,800 for residential care (respite of £2,000), of £1,800 for residential dementia care (respite of £2,000), of £1,850 for nursing care (respite of £2,050) and of £1,850 for nursing dementia care (respite of £2,050). Funding accepted: Self-Funding (Private), Local Authority with Top-up, Local Authority, NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC).
Older Person Care, Dementia, Physical Disability, Visual / Hearing Impairment are the registered (by the Care Quality Commission) categories of Care.
