My mother has been in Lynwood Care Home for four years and seems very content. Whenever I visit, she is always clean and well presented and the staff are very welcoming and helpful.
My mother moved into one of the houses for residents with dementia two years ago, and, although virtually bed-bound now, her carers still try to chat to her and find her sense of humour.

Overall I’m very pleased with the help and care my mother receives.

I visited the resident in her new home and was impressed at how welcoming it felt from the receptionist to the care workers. The visiting room was clean and you could see that all safety measures were being taken to keep everyone safe in this current climate. To cap it all my friend said that the staff were treating her well and looking after her. That alone made me feel relaxed.

Thank you keep up the good work.

Mum had respite care at Lynwood Care Centre for 1 month when she was discharged from hospital. We received a very warm welcome from the start and all of the staff could not have been more helpful. The nursing and care staff treated my Mum with kindness, respect and dignity. They quickly got to know her likes and dislikes ensuring, for instance, that she was able to sit in her preferred area in front of the window. The excellent health care resulted in a quick recovery which enabled her to return to her own home. My Mum has dementia which has resulted in her being unable to enjoy previous activities however, she thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food including lovely roast dinners and homemade cake at teatime. The managers were incredibly helpful regarding Mum's discharge from hospital and leaving date to coincide with support at home. The receptionists always gave me a warm greeting when I arrived, were helpful and informative and personally took Mum her daily newspaper. I would highly recommend it.

Lynwood Care Centre have very poor interim management. Ignorant and needs training on how to listen! Not well respected in house, how this person has been employed I will never understand. Lynwood care staff are excellent, shame the interim management is not up to the same standard.

Reply from Anna Burke, Marketing Manager at Lynwood Care Centre

Thank you for taking the time to submit this review and we’re sorry you had an upsetting experience. In this instance, our interim manager was carrying out her responsibilities, ensuring visits stay within the allocated times. Unexpected and out of the blue my husband had to go into a care home at only 59 years old and I’m so glad it was Lynwood. He is in Kingfisher House and I can’t express how the nurses and, especially, the carers are looking after him all with the back up of management. My husband wants for nothing and with covid 19 going on everything is in place from the moment you enter the building. Well done to you all. If I ever need 24-hour care,I will make sure I come here with this excellent bunch of people keeping everybody safe.

Mourning is private, grieving is pain, feeling the sorrow over and over again.
Losing someone close just cuts so deep, waking at night because you just can't sleep.
No one can tell you when it's time to move on, when your flowers will dry or tears have all gone.

But face it we must and hold our heads high, smile and wave and try not to cry, together with a care home that can do no wrong, think of the good times and remain forever strong, so sing from the rooftops and relight the flame. If you want the best, Lynwood is the name!

Very happy with Lynwood Care Home. My mother has been a resident since September 2019, and whilst she has complex care needs, she seems happy. The staff are amazing with Mum; kind and caring despite a challenging situation. They always try their best, and we are very grateful, even more son in these Covid times.

I have found all the staff so professional and caring etc: from the minute you walk into reception so smart and professional.

With full PPE up to Nightingale, nice welcome from the staff. My mother's room is spotless, the linen immaculate and the care all the staff give to my mother is way beyond perfect. Such a relief when I can't visit I know she is being looked after 100%.

My parents lived in the village for a few years and moved into the care home in February 2020. From the moment they arrived in 2017 they were welcomed, looked after and cared for exceptionally well. From the front of house staff to the carers and caterers, they were always treated with the utmost respect and dignity even as their dementia deteriorated.
When their care needs increased, they moved seamlessly into Kingfisher House, in the care centre. Here they were genuinely loved and looked after in a way our family would have done. Sadly, my mother passed away last week, but I draw comfort in the knowledge that in her final days she wanted for nothing and was looked after in a beautiful loving and kind environment by people that really, really care.

My father continues to live at the care centre and during this difficult time, everyone has been so kind and helpful which makes everything so much more bearable and our family will be forever grateful.

We have experienced having 2 parents in Lynwood in different units at different times.

With both parents Lynwood has always met our expectations, the care form all the staff has always been very genuine to both our parents and us as family. Both parents went in Lynwood at a very vulnerable time of their lives and we had full confidence in Lynwood that they would give the care and support they needed - and they did.

The overall service is very good for the residents and in a wonderful environment. Having a hair salon and physiotherapist on site plays a very important part ensuring the residents enjoy their stay at Lynwood Care Centre. The carers are good and have performed well under these very challenging times. Friends and families enjoy visiting and when the resident is well enough then it's nice taking them to The Prescott Restaurant for a longer chat, though not possible at this stage because of the virus.

The day staff are very caring and skilled. The night staff are less dedicated, as one would expect. The food style and type are generally good. The rooms are a good size and are well fitted out. They are comfortable and pleasing.

Always warmly welcomed when visiting relative. Sometimes not always possible to speak to at the time of visiting to a registered nurse about the health and wellbeing of my aunt, but generally, they always call back. They inform us if she is unwell and if an incident has occurred. We believe the care is of high quality, compassionate, involving the individual, and highly respect their dignity and family input. We highly commend Lynwood and the Dove dementia unit.

Mihail Gafincu
Mihail GafincuJob Title Head of Clinical CareJoined 2023

Lynwood is a great environment for delivering care. What I like about it is how it’s structured into units, or as we call them ‘houses’, of 15 people. To me, it’s the ideal environment to enable us to care for people in a person-centred way and it’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work for Lynwood. Another thing that attracted me to Lynwood is the Best Lives Model of Care, which allows nursing staff plenty of time with residents, so we can use our clinical skills to the fullest extent. It means we have enough time to spend with each resident to ensure they are well cared for and that their needs are being met.

“I also like the fact that Ben is a charity because I know that we’re focused on delivering good care rather than on making money. The staff here are passionate about care and they have really good relationships with the residents in each house.

“Another thing I like about Lynwood is the space. It looks big when you first get here – it is a big building - but I like the fact that there is enough space to do activities, meet with families and visitors as well as provide care. It’s also a very homely environment. When you walk into each house, it’s very relaxed, everyone’s happy, it really is home from home. Residents tell me that they feel at home here and that they feel safe, which is exactly what you want people to feel when they are living in a care home.

“I think the Best Lives Model will help us deliver an exceptional level of care because we are training our carers to a much higher standard than in many other care homes. They acquire nursing skills and other training which means the level of care they deliver is truly exceptional. I believe this model, where nurses deliver their clinical care throughout the care home – not just to people who are in nursing care units – is the future of care and will adopted by other operators when they realise the impact it has on care quality.

“Lynwood is special because of the way it feels here, it’s got a great atmosphere. It’s also unique in the way it supports the staff, it’s the first time I’ve seen this in a care home; very few organisations offer that level of support. Staff are listened to, they are supported throughout the ups and downs, and there is always someone there for them to talk to."

Dawn Brown
Dawn BrownJob Title Head of Person Centred CareJoined 2003

I have worked at Lynwood since 2003, I joined initially as part of the care team, supporting our residents and relatives on a day-to-day basis and I was promoted to a house leader in 2015, in this role I managed a residential dementia house and it was my responsibility to ensure that a person-centred approach to dementia care was provided.

In 2021 I joined the management team in my current role of Head of Person Centred Care. Working alongside the Head of Clinical Care, I manage Dove, Kingfisher, Nightingale and Heron Houses, I support the residents and relatives to ensure our residents can live their best lives whilst in our care, whilst also ensuring that our staff team are supported in their role.
