I have found all the staff so professional and caring etc: from the minute you walk into reception so smart and professional.
With full PPE up to Nightingale, nice welcome from the staff. My mother's room is spotless, the linen immaculate and the care all the staff give to my mother is way beyond perfect.
Such a relief when I can't visit I know she is being looked after 100%.

My parents lived in the village for a few years and moved into the care home in February 2020. From the moment they arrived in 2017 they were welcomed, looked after and cared for exceptionally well. From the front of house staff to the carers and caterers, they were always treated with the utmost respect
and dignity even as their dementia deteriorated.
When their care needs increased, they moved seamlessly into Kingfisher House, in the care centre. Here they were genuinely loved and looked after in a way our family would have done. Sadly, my mother passed away last week, but I draw comfort in the knowledge that in her final days she wanted for nothing and was looked after in a beautiful loving and kind environment by people that really, really care.
My father continues to live at the care centre and during this difficult time, everyone has been so kind and helpful which makes everything so much more bearable and our family will be forever grateful.

We have experienced having 2 parents in Lynwood in different units at different times.
With both parents Lynwood has always met our expectations, the care form all the staff has always been very genuine to both our parents and us as family. Both parents went in Lynwood at a very vulnerable time of
their lives and we had full confidence in Lynwood that they would give the care and support they needed - and they did.

The overall service is very good for the residents and in a wonderful environment. Having a hair salon and physiotherapist on site plays a very important part ensuring the residents enjoy their stay at Lynwood Care Centre. The carers are good and have performed well under these very challenging times.
Friends and families enjoy visiting and when the resident is well enough then it's nice taking them to The Prescott Restaurant for a longer chat, though not possible at this stage because of the virus.

The day staff are very caring and skilled. The night staff are less dedicated, as one would expect. The food style and type are generally good. The rooms are a good size and are well fitted out. They are comfortable and pleasing.

Always warmly welcomed when visiting relative. Sometimes not always possible to speak to at the time of visiting to a registered nurse about the health and wellbeing of my aunt, but generally, they always call back. They inform us if she is unwell and if an incident has occurred. We believe the care
is of high quality, compassionate, involving the individual, and highly respect their dignity and family input. We highly commend Lynwood and the Dove dementia unit.

My father has been a resident at Lynwood since March 2018. The care he receives is exceptional, from a very professional consistent team. He is treated with dignity and respect. He has dementia but it is evident that he is fond of his carers with whom he has developed an excellent rapport. We couldn't
have found a better home for him.

Extremely attentive nurses and carers employed by the actual home. (I cannot speak for the agency workers though as I do not see them.)
One nurse, in particular, has been very helpful in connection with identifying the needs of my father and his Parkinsons, leading to my father being made more comfortable
and having a better quality of life with new medication. My father always looks impeccably clean, well dressed/presented, and content - very well looked after by smiling and cheerful staff, which is so good to see.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.429)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.429) out of 10 for Lynwood Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.237 for Lynwood Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 114 Ratings = 4.237
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.192 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lynwood Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 102 registered maximum number of service users is 20.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.4 = 0.392
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

A quote from Nicola

"Since joining the team at Lynwood, it has been my focus to deliver our Best Life Model of Care which we successfully launched in December 2023, my team are now focused on providing person-centred care to our residents and I look forward to continuing to support and improve our quality of care here at Lynwood"

Lynwood is a great environment for delivering care. What I like about it is how it’s structured into units, or as we call them ‘houses’, of 15 people. To me, it’s the ideal environment to enable us to care for people in a person-centred way and it’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work for Lynwood. Another thing that attracted me to Lynwood is the Best Lives Model of Care, which allows nursing staff plenty of time with residents, so we can use our clinical skills to the fullest extent. It means we have enough time to spend with each resident to ensure they are well cared for and that their needs are being met.

“I also like the fact that Ben is a charity because I know that we’re focused on delivering good care rather than on making money. The staff here are passionate about care and they have really good relationships with the residents in each house.

“Another thing I like about Lynwood is the space. It looks big when you first get here – it is a big building - but I like the fact that there is enough space to do activities, meet with families and visitors as well as provide care. It’s also a very homely environment. When you walk into each house, it’s very relaxed, everyone’s happy, it really is home from home. Residents tell me that they feel at home here and that they feel safe, which is exactly what you want people to feel when they are living in a care home.

“I think the Best Lives Model will help us deliver an exceptional level of care because we are training our carers to a much higher standard than in many other care homes. They acquire nursing skills and other training which means the level of care they deliver is truly exceptional. I believe this model, where nurses deliver their clinical care throughout the care home – not just to people who are in nursing care units – is the future of care and will adopted by other operators when they realise the impact it has on care quality.

“Lynwood is special because of the way it feels here, it’s got a great atmosphere. It’s also unique in the way it supports the staff, it’s the first time I’ve seen this in a care home; very few organisations offer that level of support. Staff are listened to, they are supported throughout the ups and downs, and there is always someone there for them to talk to."
