My mother-in-law was admitted to Denham Manor in August 2021 after a short spell in hospital and a few weeks in another care home. She has dementia and it became impossible for her to stay in her own home safely after losing her beloved husband of 73-years. From the first meeting with the new manager,
which is well deserved, it was clear that this was a place we could be sure that my mother-in-law would not only be safe but genuinely cared for. This has proved to be the case in the months that followed. Alongside the manager there are some really lovely carers who we can tell are genuinely interested in making the lives of the residents as happy and comfortable as possible. I’m sorry I can’t remember all the names but two members of staff, in particular, stand out for us. Thank you all.
Reply from Home Manager at Denham ManorThank you for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! We're happy to hear that your mother-in-law is receiving such great care at Denham Manor and that your experience is such a positive one. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team.

My wife of 62 years was admitted in May 2021 suffering from Alzheimer's when it became impossible to care for her at home. Despite Covid restrictions, it has been possible to visit her three times a week and it has been clear that management and staff, who have acted professionally at all times, have
done their utmost to look after her and keep her safe and secure. Her room is bright, cheerful and impeccably clean and the friendly and willing attitude of all staff has been of great benefit to her and her condition. I could not have made a better choice.

My partner has been in Denham Manor for nine months now.
The nursing staff have been excellent in ensuring her comfort and responding to every need. They are most attentive and caring.
The supporting staff are very good at keeping me informed of my partner’s condition and are most helpful on the occasions
I can visit.
The surroundings are comfortable, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

My parents have been residents of Denham Manor for just over a year. My father has dementia, and my mother has severe mobility problems, but Denham provides support for them both with their different needs and does everything they can to keep them together.
I am particularly grateful to know that they
are safe at Denham. Recently a dodgy mole on my father's shoulder, which otherwise may have gone unnoticed, was picked up by staff, and a referral was made. He also has very sensitive skin, and special care is taken with their laundry, using non-bio so as to not irritate it further.
The staff are kind and caring, sometimes under difficult circumstances, and the place is always spotless.

My grandmother has been a resident at Denham manor for 4-years. Throughout this time, the staff have always been kind, respectful and attentive. My grandmother has communication issues, and the staff really go above and beyond to help her. The management team prioritises resident care, which is reflected
in the high standard of care given. The building itself is grand and old, but well maintained. The grounds are beautiful and perfect for a short stroll. As a family, we are very happy with the care Nanna has received. The whole team at Denham Manor are fabulous! Thanks, guys!

The gentleman I refer to was transferred from the hospital in May/June 2021 at the age of 97 for palliative care. I have to say that he was not a happy fellow at the transfer! However, after a very short while, he warmed to the kind and friendly young ladies who took him under their wings and cared
for him to the end of his life on 19 August 2021. Not only that, the staff were so proactive with their almost daily reports to me (as his named next of kin) that I don't think I would be overreacting to say I began to look upon them as friends. I am an elderly lady myself, but it occurred to me today that I never did leave a review for them on their website. All I can say now is ''better late than never". Thank you so much, Denham Manor.

As we enter 2022, I would like to thank all the staff and management at Denham Manor for all they have done and are doing to keep their residents safe and comfortable through the past 2-years of the pandemic. My father has been a resident for 4-years; they have ensured his well being and maintained
good lines of communication with his family throughout what has been challenging times.

Father was a resident at Denham Manor for just over one year. He suffered from Vascular Dementia and needed 24/7 care. The quality of the care and attention given to my father was everything that my sister and I hoped for when it became clear that care at his home was no longer possible. The manager
was extremely well organised and approachable and her staff were very efficient and very kind. The quality of the facilities at Denham Manor was excellent and the hygiene and cleanliness were second to none. In these trying times of covid, it was very comforting to know that father was being looked after so well in a safe environment.

Denham Manor for me is special. I spent five months there recovering from an above the knee leg amputation. Whilst the building and grounds are stunning, it was made extra special by the staff, they are professional, kind and very, very caring. Nothing was too much trouble day or night. There is a very
friendly atmosphere present, which is of great comfort to all.

My experience of Denham Manor Care Home has been extremely positive.
The primary quality I hope for in the staff is kindness and I have seen ample evidence of that.
The housekeeping is obviously of a high order, with the room in which my wife lives always fresh and clean. With regards to my wife's
personal needs, I have never had cause for complaint. As a lady of 87 years with advanced Parkinson's disease, caring for these needs must be both demanding and relentless.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.973)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.973) out of 10 for Denham Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.973 for Denham Manor is calculated as follows: ( (510 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 524 Ratings = 4.973
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Denham Manor is based on 45 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 45 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I have been a Registered Nurse for 33 years and after I finished working as a NHS Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse, I started a service called Hospital at Home at Watford General Hospital over 25 years ago.

This service looks after people in their homes or dedicated nursing homes and is still going strong today.

I have held various senior roles including Chief Operation Officer, Head of Care and Operations and Company Director for large and smaller care home operators.

My days are very varied and as a Manager of a very busy care home, I am responsible for the day to day management ensuring the best possible care for those living in our community. With the experience I have, I ensure I share this knowledge with my team in order to deliver great care.

The most joy I get from my role is seeing our residents enjoy meaningful engagement and seeing our team enjoying their roles in caring for our residents. I believe we give all we can with compassion and love. I am proud to say my team have shown me they both care and love.

My biggest achievement is my family. I have been married to Lesley for 33 years and have two amazing daughters, Rachel and Daisy, as well as two wonderful grandsons Archie and Charlie. We also have 3 dogs, Cissy, Lolly and Bubbles who are very much part of the family.

I love working in the care industry and feel privileged to look after those who need care. I live in Rickmansworth, which although classified as being in Hertfordshire is only 5 miles away. I love this area, as there is so much greenery and beautiful walks to do. I am a keen gardener and nature photographer. I am a huge Manchester United fan, having been born in Stockport, Manchester and still play football at my tender age! Family are massively important to me and I pass those values onto my staff.
