My auntie was in a terrible state before she came to Denham Manor, what a transformation, she started singing and telling stories about her childhood, her whole demeanour changed. The staff are exceptional. A big thank you to all.

Very happy with the care/nursing mum has received since she became a resident in July 2014. Most of the residents had to be moved to different rooms whilst renovations were being carried out which was done with as little disturbance as possible. Over the last year I have got to know most of the staff
quite well and have been made to feel like family which is comforting to know as I know mum is being treated as family also. My only concern is that some of the familiar faces have gone and having made some enquiries it seems they have left to go to other care homes where they can earn more which to me seems a shame to lose excellent carers due to poor pay.

My mother has been a resident at Denham Manor for 2 and a half years now, also my father before he passed away last year. During this time I have had no reason to complain about anything. All the staff are very caring and the nursing care is also good. Lovely nurses, nice the residents see the same
faces. The home is run by and an excellent manager, her door is always open so you can talk to her at anytime. The refurbishment at the home recently is very nice and along with the beautiful gardens makes Denham Manor a nice place to live. I would recommend it to anymore.

Each time we visit the home we are made welcome, offered refreshments and find the staff, nurses and carers very friendly and show concern and consideration towards our aunt. We are most grateful for their help and care as we are unable to visit on a regular basis and rely 100% on their services.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.969)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.969) out of 10 for Denham Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.969 for Denham Manor is calculated as follows: ( (345 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 356 Ratings = 4.969
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Denham Manor is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I have been a Registered Nurse for 33 years and after I finished working as a NHS Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse, I started a service called Hospital at Home at Watford General Hospital over 25 years ago.

This service looks after people in their homes or dedicated nursing homes and is still going strong today.

I have held various senior roles including Chief Operation Officer, Head of Care and Operations and Company Director for large and smaller care home operators.

My days are very varied and as a Manager of a very busy care home, I am responsible for the day to day management ensuring the best possible care for those living in our community. With the experience I have, I ensure I share this knowledge with my team in order to deliver great care.

The most joy I get from my role is seeing our residents enjoy meaningful engagement and seeing our team enjoying their roles in caring for our residents. I believe we give all we can with compassion and love. I am proud to say my team have shown me they both care and love.

My biggest achievement is my family. I have been married to Lesley for 33 years and have two amazing daughters, Rachel and Daisy, as well as two wonderful grandsons Archie and Charlie. We also have 3 dogs, Cissy, Lolly and Bubbles who are very much part of the family.

I love working in the care industry and feel privileged to look after those who need care. I live in Rickmansworth, which although classified as being in Hertfordshire is only 5 miles away. I love this area, as there is so much greenery and beautiful walks to do. I am a keen gardener and nature photographer. I am a huge Manchester United fan, having been born in Stockport, Manchester and still play football at my tender age! Family are massively important to me and I pass those values onto my staff.
