Lewin House in Aylesbury is a pleasant and lively care home offering nursing and dementia nursing care for 70 individuals spread across four ‘houses’.

The enthusiastic and caring team pride themselves on getting to know each individual resident and building relationships and communities within the home.

Each ‘house’ has lovely communal areas which are used for relaxing, socialising and building friendships. The extensive landscaped gardens offer a chance for residents to partake in light exercise or simply enjoy the fresh air.

My father has been a resident at Lewin House for the past 2.5 years and during that time he has received the very best care from a dedicated team who have been incredibly supportive, understanding, and respectful. The facilities are lovely with large, well furnished rooms and en suite bathrooms and
the communal areas are bright, cheerful and homely. All areas are spotlessly clean and there are lots of activities for residents. When my mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness she was able to spend the last months of her life receiving palliative care in the same residence as my father which allowed her to spend her last days with her beloved husband. The staff helped her to spend time with my father every day, including having meals together and I cannot describe how much that meant to us and how wonderful and supportive the staff have been during a very difficult year.

The staff do a good day's work for a good day's pay and they all work together as a team and they never ever stop working. They are on the go all day.

My husband receives 24-hour nursing care so I was familiar with the kind, friendly staff and stimulating, colourful environment. When I needed respite care, following an operation, I was pleased to be able to stay at Lewin House Care Home and was very happy there. My room was spacious, light and it
was cleaned daily. I was always treated with kindness, respect and appropriate care.

My husband was in Lewin House for six months until he passed away. The staff are wonderful and caring and supportive of our family through a very difficult time. I wish his time there had been better but everything that was possible was done to help. No care home could have done more.

My father, who was bedbound and very frail, spent 11 weeks at Lewin House before he died. He was extremely well cared for, and I can't praise the staff enough. They were always kind and patient. I know he felt looked after, and he was comfortable. It was a great comfort to my sister and me to know that.

I took my mum to visit my aunt. The staff were helpful and friendly. The covid controls seemed good. The security was good. The home looked clean, spacious, light, well equipped, and well looked after. The room was nice, with a nice view. The en suite wet room looked good. The staff knew the residents
well and seemed to really care. My aunt is a fussy eater, but the staff catered well for her.

My mother has been a resident at Lewin House for over eight months now, and during this time all the staff have shown to be caring, supportive and knowledgeable. They always act in a professional manner and show compassion. Whilst residents are encouraged to participate in activities, there is no pressure.
The food is extremely good and highly recommended to me by my mother.

All the staff are amazing. The Business Support Assistant is really caring and very helpful. We are very lucky to get my husband in here. They can't do enough to help, from laundry to cleaning to nurseries and carers (one of the cleaners helped me get the coffee machine going which I brought for my
husband). They are all very, very kind and thoughtful.

I recently visited my mum at Lewin House from Canada. Where do I start? The staff are outstanding, caring, diligent, friendly, and welcoming. I am thoroughly impressed by the high standard of service she is receiving. They have superb decor and enthusiastic events and activities, staff members. Wonderful
grounds to wander and chat with loved ones. Inventive and adventurous schedules for able residents who all look well attended, happy, and loved. Fabulous place. She is well cared for enjoys the activities, stunning gardens to walk around, and a beautiful room. The food is fabulous with a different menu each day, and Mum is spoilt with Indian food. The home is just like walking into a 5-star hotel. The whole team was involved in making her stay so wonderful. I am grateful for their kindness to us as well as mum. Thank you.

My mum spent the last 2 years of her life at Lewin House after an accident at home left her wheelchair bound and needing around the clock care and assistance. The care given by all the staff was exceptional, from the care/nursing staff and all the support staff and management team. There were regular
activities and entertainment which Mum particularly enjoyed along with the food which Mum always found to be very good. Based on Mum's experience we would highly recommend this home.

I have been extremely impressed with everyone at Lewin House. They ensured that the right level of care was arranged for my mother. The care staff, nurses and management were fantastic in getting everything prepared to welcome her. The care, patience and personal attention they give to residents is

Our mum arrived at Lewin House for palliative nursing care in February 2021 and died in late April. She had transferred from a residential home that was pretty good. But in her short time at Lewin House, we saw what a brilliantly run home looks like. The staff were very caring in both homes, but the
difference was in the management. The manager at Lewin House is calm and caring, and that has created the atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble. She also makes herself accessible to residents' families (even during recent very difficult Covid times). You're able to communicate with the home by email (and get an answer); there are regular Zoom meetings, and there is a warm welcome when you arrive for a visit. Staff very quickly got to know and love our mum, and despite her short stay, they were very sad when she died. Nothing was too much trouble for them - they listened to and responded to everything we said and suggested. Can't recommend the home highly enough.

I had a dear friend at Lewin House, Aylesbury, who I visited. Every visit, the home was clean and my friend and the residents all seemed extremely happy and well looked after. A big shout out to one of the nurses and one of the assistant managers and all the staff who made visitors feel welcome and
in my experience, look after the residents very well. In my experience, the home is welcoming and secure and I would recommend it to family and friends.

We could not wish for a better place for Mum to live. The care and support is of a very high standard.
The staff are so kind to Mum which makes it a very happy place for her.
My family and I are so grateful to all the staff who are very helpful when I phone Mum and now we are able to visit in the
garden. The manager and every member of staff are so welcoming.
I cannot thank them enough and wish everyone hopefully happier times ahead.

This is the first time we have seen Nan since lockdown began. She looked so well, content and very happy. We were impressed by the professional attitude, care and kindness shown. We came away feeling she was lucky to have found the home. Thank you - our minds are at rest.

Every time I visit my mother at Lewin House I always receive a warm reception from all of the staff I meet, from the cleaners through to the managers. I can not complain about the excellent level of care she receives, especially at this difficult time. I have recommended Lewin House to other families

Lewin House has a warm welcoming atmosphere. The cheerful team treat residents and visitors with respect as one would treat a family member. They seem to have a policy of continuous improvement. The decor is updated to reflect the events of the year. Residents individual preferences are checked as a
matter of course whether for food choices, activities etc. The medical staff are able to give a detailed response to questions and communication with relatives is excellent.

Katie Ruseva

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

As a graduate of the Medical University in Sofia, Bulgaria with a degree in Health and Social Care together with extensive knowledge of Pulmonary Disease, Katie has a wealth of experience working in the Social Care sector.


Her career with The Fremantle Trust started at Cherry Garth, Holmer Green where she worked with the team as a relief nurse. A transfer across to Lewin House then saw Katie progress from Staff Nurse, to Unit Manager and Clinical Lead to the role she holds now, as Home Manager.
