My mother is receiving excellent care at Lewin House. The staff on House One are friendly, attentive and very caring.

My mother lives with Lewy body dementia and her behaviour can be very challenging at times. The dementia care manager is superb. Our family are offered massive support by the manager and her team as we all try to care for our mother.

My brother has been a resident in Lewin House for six and a half years. The caring has been very good and of course, there has been ups and downs. He has been shown respect and kindness.

Any concerns have been addressed when needed. The building could do with refurbishment as it's not so homely and welcoming on the fourth floor.

I have found Lewin House a very warm and friendly environment to be in. Trying to accept it was the right move for my dad has been the hardest thing I have ever done, but with the help from the staff who have welcomed 'us' into their home, it has been made easier to accept. The level of care they give to each and everyone is exceptional and as I have witnessed on many occasions, nothing seems too much trouble, considering the amount of paperwork they do and the long hours they put in. They all commit 100% and beyond. Dad seems to have settled in well and is now getting used to the familiar faces he sees every day. Fingers crossed it continues this way, because if he is happy, I am happy (sort of).

From my first visit to Lewin House in August 2017 up to the present day January 2018, I can only speak highly of everything and everyone.

The care, cleanliness and attention given to the residents is very good and the whole home has a very friendly feel.

My father was transferred from the hospital to Lewin House just before his 90th birthday. The care and attention shown by all the staff was amazing. He was not with them long as he passed away shortly before Christmas but the home made sure he and my mother were kept comfortable calling out the doctor to him many times. I'm very thankful he spent his last days at Lewin House and not the hospital.

Overall Experience
Overall, the care at Lewin House is good, they do from time to time have issues with being understaffed - this can result in no supervision in the dining room for residents, who need to be supervised when eating, which can cause concern. There have been a number of times that the dishwasher is out of use, this causes concern as the hot water is not hot enough to wash dishes and could lead to cross-contamination from one resident to another. I was there yesterday and washed the dishes myself due to staff shortage.
There are sometimes shortages of towels, bed linen etc and even pads from time to time. The permanent staff work hard to overcome these issues when really they should be addressed by management and resolved before it becomes an issue.

However, as I say the care is generally good and they try to understand each residents needs and work with the family. Overall, we are happy with Dads care and treatment at Lewin House.

Lewin House is a wonderful home. The care that my mother receives is excellent.

She has late stages Alzheimers and is very confused and not happy in herself. The care staff are all very caring and kind, even when she becomes aggressive and very rude. Since she became a resident at Lewin House in July 2016, she has been very well cared for.

Sadly, both Mum and Dad needed to go to a care home for the last part of their lives. Mum had Vascular Dementia and Dad required 24-hour nursing care. As a family used to caring for Mum and Dad ourselves, it was the most traumatic time of our lives.

We received the warmest welcome at Lewin House. Even though Mum and Dad's requirements were different, the staff managed to get Mum and Dad into rooms next to each other and spent every day making sure they got to see each other.

They were encouraged to take part in lots of activities, they were absolutely brilliant, from singing to quizzes to exotic fruit tasting. Mum and Dad loved these and they loved the care workers and nurses at Lewin House that helped look after them.

Sadly, Mum and Dad both passed away within a short time of each other, both were supported through their end of life with the utmost care, compassion and dignity.

We will never forget the kindness they have shown to us all. Thank you to all of you, we won't forget you.

My mother has been a resident of Lewin House for over 3 years now and I have been very happy with her care. The staff are genuinely caring people, the facilities are good, the care is good and medical needs are met, the food is appropriate for the elderly. The residents are treated with dignity. Lewin House is run by the not for profit Fremantle Trust - another plus in my opinion as it is all about the residents not the money, which is not always the case in other homes.

For anyone looking for a care home for their loved one, I would highly recommend Lewin House. Don't be put off by the location as it really doesn't matter to the residents. Once inside the doors, it is a safe haven and caring place.

Mum has spent 6 weeks in respite at Lewin House and now has a permanent place which we as a family are very happy with. The staff are absolutely brilliant so kind and caring and really look after Mum exceptionally well. As a family we are happy with the care Mum is receiving we could not have asked for better such a relief to know she is in the best care. The rooms are lovely and spacious and very very clean, we can visit any time and the staff are so welcoming its a real pleasure to visit. All together a really nice place can recommend without reserve.
