Lewin House in Aylesbury is a pleasant and lively care home offering nursing and dementia nursing care for 70 individuals spread across four ‘houses’.

The enthusiastic and caring team pride themselves on getting to know each individual resident and building relationships and communities within the home.

Each ‘house’ has lovely communal areas which are used for relaxing, socialising and building friendships. The extensive landscaped gardens offer a chance for residents to partake in light exercise or simply enjoy the fresh air.

My father was transferred from the hospital to Lewin House just before his 90th birthday. The care and attention shown by all the staff was amazing. He was not with them long as he passed away shortly before Christmas but the home made sure he and my mother were kept comfortable calling out the doctor
to him many times. I'm very thankful he spent his last days at Lewin House and not the hospital.

Overall, the care at Lewin House is good, they do from time to time have issues with being understaffed - this can result in no supervision in the dining room for residents, who need to be supervised when eating, which can cause concern. There have been a number of times that the dishwasher is out of
use, this causes concern as the hot water is not hot enough to wash dishes and could lead to cross-contamination from one resident to another. I was there yesterday and washed the dishes myself due to staff shortage.
There are sometimes shortages of towels, bed linen etc and even pads from time to time. The permanent staff work hard to overcome these issues when really they should be addressed by management and resolved before it becomes an issue.
However, as I say the care is generally good and they try to understand each residents needs and work with the family. Overall, we are happy with Dads care and treatment at Lewin House.

Lewin House is a wonderful home. The care that my mother receives is excellent.
She has late stages Alzheimers and is very confused and not happy in herself. The care staff are all very caring and kind, even when she becomes aggressive and very rude. Since she became a resident at Lewin House in July
2016, she has been very well cared for.

Sadly, both Mum and Dad needed to go to a care home for the last part of their lives. Mum had Vascular Dementia and Dad required 24-hour nursing care. As a family used to caring for Mum and Dad ourselves, it was the most traumatic time of our lives.


We received the warmest welcome at Lewin House.

Even though Mum and Dad's requirements were different, the staff managed to get Mum and Dad into rooms next to each other and spent every day making sure they got to see each other.


They were encouraged to take part in lots of activities, they were absolutely brilliant, from singing to quizzes to exotic fruit tasting. Mum and Dad loved these and they loved the care workers and nurses at Lewin House that helped look after them.


Sadly, Mum and Dad both passed away within a short time of each other, both were supported through their end of life with the utmost care, compassion and dignity.


We will never forget the kindness they have shown to us all. Thank you to all of you, we won't forget you.

My mother has been a resident of Lewin House for over 3 years now and I have been very happy with her care. The staff are genuinely caring people, the facilities are good, the care is good and medical needs are met, the food is appropriate for the elderly. The residents are treated with dignity.
Lewin House is run by the not for profit Fremantle Trust - another plus in my opinion as it is all about the residents not the money, which is not always the case in other homes.


For anyone looking for a care home for their loved one, I would highly recommend Lewin House. Don't be put off by the location as it really doesn't matter to the residents. Once inside the doors, it is a safe haven and caring place.

Mum has spent 6 weeks in respite at Lewin House and now has a permanent place which we as a family are very happy with. The staff are absolutely brilliant so kind and caring and really look after Mum exceptionally well. As a family we are happy with the care Mum is receiving we could not have asked
for better such a relief to know she is in the best care. The rooms are lovely and spacious and very very clean, we can visit any time and the staff are so welcoming its a real pleasure to visit. All together a really nice place can recommend without reserve.

Katie Ruseva

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

As a graduate of the Medical University in Sofia, Bulgaria with a degree in Health and Social Care together with extensive knowledge of Pulmonary Disease, Katie has a wealth of experience working in the Social Care sector.


Her career with The Fremantle Trust started at Cherry Garth, Holmer Green where she worked with the team as a relief nurse. A transfer across to Lewin House then saw Katie progress from Staff Nurse, to Unit Manager and Clinical Lead to the role she holds now, as Home Manager.
