Stone House Nursing Home provides care and support to older people living in Aylesbury. The home was built in 1862 and is located in five acres of grounds.

Residents receive round the clock personal care and are assisted as much or as little as they like. They have open and evolving, digital care plans to provide individual, effective and reliable care. This provides peace of mind for residents and their relatives alike. Care plans are regularly monitored and are tailored to each resident's needs and involve family members, friends, and medical practitioners, who help to ensure the correct level of care and support is provided.

All bedrooms are fully furnished, come equipped with an electric bed, SMART television, call bell, telephone and Sky TV facility if desired. The home has fibre Wi-Fi available for all residents and a dedicated guest network throughout. iPad tablets, FaceTime, Zoom and Skype access enable regular communication between residents and their relatives.

The home's chef uses fresh local produce to provide a wonderful choice of meals on a daily basis. Residents may choose where they take their meals, be it in the privacy of their own room or together with other residents (and often friends and relatives) in the dining room.

The home has exceptional activities coordinators who arrange a varied programme of events and outings with its bespoke minibus, including visits to local stately homes, drama therapy, musical entertainment, Yoga, virtual reality headsets and the more earthy pursuits of helping the garden to look as wonderful as it does.

My husband has received very good care and treatment whilst at Stone House Nursing Home. The staff have been kind and caring and have even incorporates celebrating special events. He has appreciated his very pleasant room. The only negative point is the accessibility at the main door and the time that
it sometimes takes to get up to his room for a person using a zimmer!

Stone House is a wonderful care home set in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.
My mother is very well cared for. She always looks immaculate, with lovely polished nails and her hair always looks amazing.
The staff are exceptionally caring and friendly, from the Manager down to the laundry
lady. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My mother will recognise individual staff members and smile and wave to them, or even blow them kisses. She is very happy at Stone House.
There are many activities laid on at the home. My mum finds it difficult to participate, but she loves the visiting singers and all forms of music.
The food is excellently prepared by the resident Chef. There is a large and varied menu and residents do have some choices when they choose their meals.
In short, all my family love the care home and we would happily recommend it to all our friends and relatives.

Lovely place in a great location. The building is well-kept and appreciated by the residents. All the staff are friendly and very caring of the residents. There are lots of activities from painting to animal visits to visiting singers that everyone enjoys. My mother-in-law always comments on how lovely
the food is. The recent project to upgrade the patio and gardens is great. The summer fete was amazing with staff dressing up and a fabulous spread of food. Certainly a happy and well-respected home.

The Stone House team are a marvellous set of people, from the manager, the nursing staff, the carers, the caterers, the odd job man and the cleaners! All seem to work to one aim - to make their residents' lives as good as they can be. They cared for my father with true affection, respect and dignity,
never forgetting he was a person first and a patient second. They were always welcoming to friends and family and in many ways, just as caring about them as their residents. Sadly we lost my father after a short illness in hospital at the end of January, but I can honestly say that Stone House made the last few months of his life the best they could be.
The Stone House team looked after my mother too before her demise at the age of 96, and her care was also exemplary. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

All the staff have been welcoming and helpful from the first time we came to view the home to my father and all the friends and family who have come to see him. My father found his time in the hospital very difficult, and it has been so good to see him relax and settle since he moved to the home. We
appreciate the level of everyday care that he is now experiencing.

I have always found the staff to be helpful, genuinely caring and friendly. My mother has been a resident at Stone House for 18 months, and in that time, has enjoyed a wide variety of activities from crafts, music, animal visits (dogs, monkeys, alpaca and even penguins) to outings to the cinema, the
local garden centre, the Christmas lights at Waddesdon Manor and many others. The food is very good, and once a month, we have lunch together in the dining room. The gardens are lovely, and with the improvements that are currently being made, they will be even better in 2024.

Stone House Nursing Home is sat in beautiful countryside with two Holm Oaks. The exterior is a small geo country house and an extremely quiet interior which creates an atmosphere of calm and peacefulness so important for all residents and quiet efficient and dedicated staff.
Since my husband arrived
in June 2018, I have had no complaints. The food is excellent and nursing care is exceptional with all staff ready to discuss any problems. I would be more than happy to be a resident here.

My mother received outstanding nursing care during her short three-week stay. The management team took time to asses her needs and know her family, and on arrival, all staff were well briefed. The nursing and care team showed empathy, responded promptly to my mother's needs and were proactive in engaging
specialist external support when required as well as providing ongoing feedback regarding my mother's complex medical needs. This released the care burden from our shoulders, allowing us to spend quality time with my mother, knowing she was being looked after in a professional and loving manner. We consider the staff at Stone House as friends or more of an extension of our family. For this, we will be forever grateful. Thank you, Stone House.

Prior to Mum coming to Stone House, Mum had a very traumatic three months being in two hospitals and having a bad experience staying in a temporary nursing home. The staff at Stone House have been very caring and understanding and Mum had settled and says how nice the staff are. The chefs are very accommodating,
so she can have a varied diet as Mum has a lactose-free diet. The maintenance staff have put up shelves so she can have personal things from her home, which makes it feel more homely. The family feel Mum is safe and well cared for.

Having had previous experience with Stone House, it was interesting to see the subtle changes of modernisation without interfering with the charming exterior appearance. Large well kept gardens surround the home, ideal at the rear for walking with carers or wheelchairs to enjoy the wildlife, birds and
squirrels etc. The food and service are excellent, served in the dining room, your own room or lounge. The carers are all extremely friendly, polite and efficient, as with the nursing staff who are keen to help when possible.

Our 91-year-old mother became a resident this summer arriving with complicated dementia and health needs. After a lovely welcome, she settled in well; liking her room, the food and the staff, who took the time to chat with her, getting to know her likes, dislikes and about her life. She was looking
forward to walking in the lovely gardens and joining some of the many activities on offer to the residents. Sadly, it was not to be as her health deteriorated. However, the Stone House team managed her increasing needs exceptionally well and with great professionalism despite the difficult circumstances. The attention to detail was simply outstanding and we will always be grateful. Stone House is extremely well managed at all levels. Staff are friendly, approachable and professional, delivering a high level of care. Our Mother felt she was in a safe environment, well looked after by the caring and attentive staff - this was hugely important and comforting to her family.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.953)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.953) out of 10 for Stone House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for Stone House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (263 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stone House Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
