Stone House Nursing Home provides care and support to older people living in Aylesbury. The home was built in 1862 and is located in five acres of grounds.

Residents receive round the clock personal care and are assisted as much or as little as they like. They have open and evolving, digital care plans to provide individual, effective and reliable care. This provides peace of mind for residents and their relatives alike. Care plans are regularly monitored and are tailored to each resident's needs and involve family members, friends, and medical practitioners, who help to ensure the correct level of care and support is provided.

All bedrooms are fully furnished, come equipped with an electric bed, SMART television, call bell, telephone and Sky TV facility if desired. The home has fibre Wi-Fi available for all residents and a dedicated guest network throughout. iPad tablets, FaceTime, Zoom and Skype access enable regular communication between residents and their relatives.

The home's chef uses fresh local produce to provide a wonderful choice of meals on a daily basis. Residents may choose where they take their meals, be it in the privacy of their own room or together with other residents (and often friends and relatives) in the dining room.

The home has exceptional activities coordinators who arrange a varied programme of events and outings with its bespoke minibus, including visits to local stately homes, drama therapy, musical entertainment, Yoga, virtual reality headsets and the more earthy pursuits of helping the garden to look as wonderful as it does.

I was so very impressed with every aspect of this beautiful home, from the first moment I came to visit I cannot fault one thing. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The best thing for me is that I know my father is getting the best care and support every day. He is so well cared for, he believes he is
in a hotel.

Beautiful surroundings and beautiful caring staff, what more could anyone have for their loved ones?

An appointment was speedily arranged for me to view Stone House nursing home the following day after my initial enquiry. Whilst I was viewing the nursing home, I was compassionately shown the actual room which my dad would be in by the admissions manageress, then shown around the rest of the home and
introduced to several of the key staff who were all very polite and cheerful. By the time my viewing was concluded, the manager of the nursing home had already visited my dad in hospital to assess his suitability to be transferred from hospital to Stone House. All further arrangements to move dad were carried out by Stone House on my behalf.

Dad was admitted for palliative care and was treated with extreme dignity, care and humility (as was I) by all the nurses, staff and management involved in his care. Dad needed 24-hour nursing care and I feel he could not have had better care for the remaining few days of his life than he received at Stone House.

Reply from Samantha Ncube, Home Manager at Stone House Nursing HomeI would like to start by saying, what an honour it was for us to have had the opportunity to look after your father. It was also such a pleasure to have met you and your family, you will always be welcome at Stone House. Thank you so much for your very kind words, I will ensure that they are shared with the team.

I would recommend Stone House Nursing Home to anyone who expects the highest quality of care. My cousin has been looked after with kindness and has improved health wise since she came to live here. To sum up, I would say she has been treated with DIGNITY - which I think is so important.

I visit the home about three times a week. The staff work relentlessly in often difficult situations to help residents have a fulfilling life as possible. They are always treated as individuals and with respect. Likes and dislikes are noted and acted upon. There is always someone to put an arm around
a resident if they are upset or tearful. They are cheerful and helpful even in the most difficult situations. The food is freshly cooked and appetising. An alternative choice is always available. My husband needs total care. His dignity is always treated with respect. The home itself is spotlessly clean and welcoming. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Stone House Nursing Home
Reply from Samantha Ncube, Home Manager at Stone House Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to review our service. We will be sure to pass on your very kind words to the team. Whenever I visit my father-in-law, I am always impressed at the level of care the staff deliver, they are always very attentive with the patients. There is always a great atmosphere in the lounge. I know he really enjoys his meals, which always look great! I know the staff spend a lot of time with
the residents and they truly benefit from this. The activities arranged are excellent and the outside entertainment is always greatly enjoyed by the residents. I would not hesitate in recommending Stonehouse, my father-in-law is really settled there.

My husband has been in Stone House for a few months now and from his first day, the staff have done everything possible to make him feel welcome. A full programme of activities is arranged every week and residents are encouraged to take part if they so wish.
Assistance is given to residents who require
help with eating or drinking and meals may be taken in the dining room, lounges or their rooms as preferred.
Medication is given as prescribed and full records kept.
Visiting relatives and friends are also welcomed and given every opportunity to raise any concerns they may have.
Stone House has allayed any fears I may have had in leaving my husband in their care.

Stone House care home was selected from four other local homes, to provide for my wife's care needs which include dementia and other health issues.
What a wise decision this was thanks to the dedication of an excellent and well-motivated management, nursing, caring and support staff. An atmosphere
of comfort, friendliness and confidence prevails throughout the home resulting in an excellent standard of caring for all residents.
All my wife's needs are well provided for, from personal hygiene, comfort, medication, daytime activities, entertainment and her food. Her food is nutritious, tasty and tailored to suit her personal taste and chewing/swallowing capability. She cannot feed herself and staff feed her at all times with patience and understanding.
As my wife's awareness and health diminishes, I can take comfort from knowing that she will be well looked after and cared for with dignity and compassion.

My dad has been at Stone House Nursing Home for about 8 months and receives a visit nearly every day from a family member. At no time have we ever had any cause for concern over his care which I believe to be outstanding. Any health issues are swiftly identified and treated. His mental health problem
(dementia) is professionally dealt with. He is encouraged to take part in activities. Being in the day room each day allows him to interact with other patients, carers and nurses keeping his mind active. I have absolutely no worries about his care. I know he is in good hands.

My father has been a resident for 7 months. I cannot fault the care he receives. The staff are excellent and look after all the residents with great care. I visit the home regularly but always find the same level of care. Each resident has their own individual needs and you clearly see this is observed
by the staff. There are varied activities always going on if the residents would like to take part. The activity staff are very encouraging and make such a difference to the residents. I would have no reservations in recommending Stone House, my father is quite settled and happy.

Stone House was one of the first nursing homes I visited, having been recommended by a very close friend who's grandmother had been a resident. After researching and then viewing 14 other care and nursing homes, none could compare with my perception of Stone House. My mother has been resident at Stone
House for well over a year now, and I take the view that the excellent levels of nursing and care, in managing my mother's needs, must surely have helped her pull through a most difficult and stressful time, whilst suffering from dementia, Parkinson's disease, osteoporosis and other conditions. The staff are really kind, above all, they also understand the stress sometimes experienced by relatives trying to cope with dramatic changes in their loved ones. Hats off to all at Stone House, I have nothing negative to say at all. My mother is confined to bed but I have seen other residents enjoying joining in all the activities.

We reviewed half a dozen care homes in Bucks and Stone House, gave us a great feeling of empathy and care. In mum's 18 months residence, she was loved and cared for as if with her family at home and I know she felt very much at home immediately. She became a resident until her recent passing. The staff
have become part of our family and went out of their way to care for mum, even visiting her during her time in the hospital and attending her recent funeral. I would not hesitate to recommend Stone House.

From the outset, I was extremely impressed with both the homes beautiful setting and the accommodation; which is excellent and provides a safe and secure home from home atmosphere that is important to the elderly. A full social calendar improves the residents quality of life and the food/drink is freshly
made and of an extremely high standard.
Management and staff skills are outstanding and all personnel are friendly, caring and approachable. Residents are treated with the freedom, compassion, respect and dignity they deserve. Communications are excellent and I have every confidence that I will be kept fully informed when necessary. A care plan was agreed when my mother-in-law was admitted and this is reviewed on a regular basis to meet her individual needs - care and nursing issues are always discussed when necessary and addressed in an appropriate manner.
My mother-in-law is extremely happy and wonderfully cared for in this outstanding Nursing Home - excellent value for money.

In particular, the staff have been professional in the way they have looked after her and they have also got to know her as a person, showing genuine affection and compassion. The home provides
a very stimulating environment and activities appropriate to my mother's level of dementia. She has responded extremely positively, both mentally and physically and is unrecognisable to the person she was when she was first admitted after a long stay in hospital.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.953)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.953) out of 10 for Stone House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for Stone House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (263 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stone House Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
